- It’s been a while since we’ve had this kind of “mad” storm without resolution! Still no clue why she was mad, but those pets calmed her down at least.
Billi is a female domestic shorthair, she's 13 years old, her favorite word is mad.
Inspiration for learning to “speak” with buttons from Hunger4Words (check her out on IG).

Clearly it takes 22 presses to adequately convey her frustration 😆
It be like that some days 🤷🏾♀️ just replace Billi's "Mads" with "damns" and it me 😆
Who knows a cat can be this poetic?
and still did not get a pet. poor girl!
@@kickDustPedestrian She got lots of pets!
So mad, she can't speak.
“Let’s give pets the intelligence to tell us how they feel!”
Everyone claps, awards are issued.
Then several weeks later,
“Mad. Mad. Mad. Mad. Mad. Mad”
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
You'd have to be so stupid to think that a cat knows what "mad" means...cats don't speak our fucking language, they do no not understand words other than food and their name and hand gestures, this cat is just pressing a random button, it could be pressing one that says "sad" and the owner would start to think that it's depressed...hey guy, your cat isn't talking to you...
@@yesdude3914 sounds like someone needs a turn with the 'mad' button
@@yesdude3914 ...Bruh. The same concept applies to this with the food, name and hand gestures. It's simple word association in their mind. To be able to tell if this was accurate or not, you'd need to know what training the cat had with the buttons. Not to mention, the description notes this as having happened before. For all we know, this time, it could've just been for attention, but you're gonna need to look into this more if you want to be able to call a lot of people stupid, buddy.
@@yesdude3914 who in the Smash Bros roster do you think would logically run the best brothel?
I'm currently 19 and, like many teenagers (or so I've been told), I sometimes get mad for little to no reason. When this happens, I just send my mom a short video of Billi hitting her mad button so she knows how I'm feeling.
Did she give you a hug after that?
@@msmaria5039 she does indeed
Thats is very cute and sweet
You should have bought a mad button and send your mom a video of you pressing that button
I think you should get your own mad button!
When she says she's mad, washes her hand, and then says she's mad again, I felt that.
The fact that she wanted pets after expressing her anger makes me think of how a lot of kids want that too. Sometimes it's a bad day and you throw a fit, and what you really need is not to be punished, but just have some affection
You make it sound like this is real.
@@iamperplexed4695 It's totally real, did you see how mad that cat was?

I literally just had this exact conversation with my mother.
😂😂😂😂
😁😁😁
Same. Only this conversation seemed to be more structured...
🤗🤣😂😂
@Sarah Bailey oh I was definitely Billi lol
I think the issue is that you're responding to an "anger" word like she is a human. When she is actually mad she would want you to leave her alone, but because of your attentive response whenever she hits "mad", she has now associated "mad" with "look at me now", rather than actual anger.
That’s possible. But it’s way more entertaining to believe she was throwing a temper tantrum. Also, kids and pets often express anger to their parents where they can be seen and reacted to.
That makes sense. She wanted attention. Sometimes anger is used that way.
I think the whole idea of trying to teach your cat to act and feel like a human is delusional itself.
It's a great experiment for sure, but birds are smarter than cats and even they don't understand the concepts of human feelings.
Not trying to be mean, but people who do this kind of thing really need to get their own kids, it's like they've decided to settle for rising animals instead which doesn't really help their mental health.
@@rRekko speak for yourself. I have both. Honestly my cat listens better. Maybe you don’t have the smartest cat but animals are far smarter than we give them credit for. My cat is the best.
@@rRekko Animals can 100% be mad, and a whole array of emotions, they aren't limited to humans.
All cats should have a Owner Verbal Training board. The fact that the owner is well trained and able to respond to the verbal prompts is definitely impressive!

@@BilliSpeaks Billi means "cat" in Hindi language. Just letting you know 😂
@@indiankid8601 I'm sure they know
I think perhaps Billie understands the word "Mad" as meaning "I want immediate attention", it was one of the first words she learned, and as a result she may not fully comprehend the emotional connection, but realizes there is an immediate & colorful response from Mom when it is pressed. Impulsive and surprised response from mom in the beginning of training with Mad button may have confused Billie"s understanding of the Mad button; not signifying frustration but requiring "right this second" mom response. I think Billie's Mad button maybe representative of "mom look at me, come see what i"m doing". Billie"s whiskers do not signify frustration or anger, but attentiveness and anxiety.
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing!! Her eyes weren't slotted and her tail wasn't lashing. Her fur was relaxed too. Clearly a cat that wants attention, not space.
I was just thinking how did Billy learn to associate a word and a button with a rather complex emotional state he experiences but unlikely can describe with much sophistication. But if instead he associates the word with any feeling that makes him want soothing and then receive attention and soothing when he presses this button, it would make sense how he learned it.
Ya think???😂 I agree?! She is enjoying the one way conversation.
This is a bit like my cat asking for food, but doesn't eat it and only wanted an interaction with me.
Nah, it's just a cat. Can't connect a symbol with abstract thoughts.
A cat learning a 20 something symbols language would be in the news.
The cat is just pressing buttons and the woman is just imagining a meaning...
The “sitting facing away from you” to express “mad” in more than one way 👍
It’s like she’s a toddler who is upset but can’t explain why until love is given and the world is in balance again. ❤️
I laughed out loud when Billi pressed the "Billi" button right after you said, "Well, that's a bit dramatic!" That seemed very appropriate, as if to say, "Dramatic? have you not met me?"
I thought the same!
"Dramatic? Don't you know who I am?!" xD
Lmfao
I thought it was because she said "you are dramatic" and they mistook it and said "no my name is Billi"
The way she turns her back, then looks over her shoulder with an icy glare is pure Drama Queen! I think I felt those daggers she shot from her steely gaze.
Give her whatever her Majesty's heart desires, NOW!

The fact this cat understands and communicates his feelings is awesome

She’s mad because she doesn’t have any other words to describe her feelings and she doesn’t appreciate that you just laugh at her frustration.
I relate to Billi so much. I don’t announce it to the world, but I do randomly get mad. Like grit my teeth mad at quite literally nothing.
I love how when Billi is asked why she's mad she's just like - "No reason, only Mad."
Understandable
Cat moment
I can relate. I spend most of my time mad for no explainable reason.
It do be like that sometimes
Sometimes I don’t even know why I’m mad or upset or anxious! So just being aware that she is indeed mad and telling her owner w a button word is cool🙌🏼
Is it, I wonder, that when Billi presses "Mad", she knows she'll get attention? She never tells you *why* she's mad because she isn't---she just wants you to stick around!
Yeah they seem to create their own language with the buttons. Billi saw a cat outside once. Billi pressed "Billi" and "outside." Meaning there's another Billi outside. Cats don't know what names are. It's like that cat from Coraline who said "We don't use names."
you are exactly right. Most animals know some words, but not as words, but as sounds that elicit reactions from us. My dog knows so many things it astounds me and a lot I have not taught her. She is very observant, reads body language and tone extremely well and appears to understand what is happening most of the time. This cat wanted something, he knew if he pushed a button he would get a reaction regardless of which button he pushed.
I’ve had cats. They knew their names, the names of the other cat, the dogs, etc. These days I have dogs and a horse. They all know each other’s names.
@@PetroicaRodinogaster264 Animals are really good at that. My dog used to be very sick and would tear up furniture. I'd come home and "SON OF A BITCH!" Nearly daily before we finally figured out what was making her sick and acting that way. The other day I dropped a glass and said the words. She came up tail tucked apologizing. Guess I should say I never hit her for eating furniture, but she figured out I didn't like coming home and seeing what she tore up day after day for a year.
@@PsychicIsaacs All three of my cats think their names are "hey there" in a high chirping kinda call. Started when they were outdoor strays, and I'd say "hey there" to greet them...then i noticed some would come over when i said it even if they were already around, and thus discovered I could use it to call them from great distances. I have 3 of them now as indoor cats and they still come running into the room if i call them that way, or circle me mewling if they're already there. It's funny when two are already there but I'm calling the third, and the two act so confused about why I'm calling them from 2 feet away.
What I’ve learned from this is I already read my cats mind, they don’t need buttons to tell me, lol.
If you can't read a cat, you probably shouldn't be taking care of one. They tell you if you pay attention.
@@ZedF86 That's not exactly true..people can be pretty good cat owners without fully knowing what their cat means. Most understand basic cues but advanced things tends to be reserved for those who REALLY pay attention. How well you read your pet is irrelevant as long as you take good care of them and can notice when they're not feeling well, knowing more tends to better help but it's not quite necessary and with so many cats in the world who don't have homes barring more from homes with "unless you can read their mind or know cat sign language don't own one" wouldn't really help much...especially when every cat communicates slightly differently, and a first time cat owner will likely struggle a bit and not fully know cat body language (they'll learn over time everyone does), so by what you're saying people who've never owned cats apparently can't own them as they're not experienced in cat body language? Gotta be careful with nitpicks and how far you take them
I felt that one. I've been mad for awhile now without knowing exactly why. I wish I could get some pets!!

I am very certain the cat does not actually use these buttons like we use language, but he for sure understands that he gets attention when he presses them.
ascribing meaning to noises is the foundation of communication
Understanding what making the noises gets him is literally the basis of language formation
I actually really disagree with this statement. If you watch this channel and the others for long enough you will realize that the animals are pressing the correct buttons within the context of the conversation. For example, billi knows to press the water button when her bowl is empty. Under your theory she would just be arbitrarily smacking random buttons till someone came and paid attention. Animals are very capable of using language, they bark, meow etc to each other to communicate. They are capable of learning our languages as well. I think people assume other Animals are less smart than humans in the way ignorant people assume people who don't speak English as a first language are less intelligent. It's not about intellect, it's about a language barrier. Cats don't speak English, but this cat is learning to speak English. There is a dog who was fostered in a Spanish speaking home that was adopted by a family who speaks English and the dog only responded to commands in Spanish until they taught him the English words. The dogs intelligence never changed, he just had to learn a new language.
I can’t remember the exact context, but Billie has a button for their name, and when her owner had another cat all over, Billie kept pressing the Billie button, it suggest is that maybe she might view all cats as Billie that’s the closest thing to her that she can gather. So I think that suggest a higher level of understanding.
@@allisonharranmua8193 animals ARE less smart than humans. This is a scientific fact. This cat pushes buttons because it's been trained and knows that it will get a response from the pet owner.

Maybe!
Yes or maybe she feels pain somewhere?
@@googleaccount-sf7im i think she would've pressed ouch
It's more like it wants something else and can't comprehend why the button it's pressing isn't producing any results. Animals don't understand concepts only action and reaction. So button presses that only result in communication aren't something the animal truly understands as they can't actually interpret complex speech or more accurately complex ideas such as feelings.
Interesting.
Please note, as indicated in the video and by the feminized spelling of her name, that she is a ‘she,’ and not an it.

Well to be fair the cat don't look mad at all. This button probably gives her the most attention from owners. Anthropomorphism is fun, but we should not think about pets like they're human. They think differently and we can easily misunderstand them, which can in some cases hurt them.

The cat was showing body language that suggests mild annoyance or frustration. Ears were slightly splayed, light tail flicking.
I think you're forgetting that there's probably a reason the cat wants attention. Especially as cats aren't like dogs, and often want to be alone. The cat may have actually been feeling bad that day, and the company actually helps.
