Oh brother... I just found your channel. First video I watched. Embarrassed to say I thought 1x was smaller than 4x. OTHER way around. I now get the odd look I was receiving from the Orvis guy at the store. Safe it to say... I subscribed and starting with video number 1. I've got a lot to learn. But I think I've found my teacher!!!
I have been fly fishing for years and enjoy learning more about it from the videos you put out. Brian, you brake down the subject matter and make it very easy to understand the information. Not everyone can do that, I'm looking forward to your next video. Tight Linens My Friend.
Great video as always! I've been looking for a leader gauge for so long would defiantly order one when you get them in the shop keep up the great work we all appreciate what you do for fly fishing as a whole
Brilliant video again. Leader straiteners are great. I need a new one actually, as I lost my good one and am now using a cheap version, that's not so great. The Loon stuff is generally good kit so thanks 👍😁
The tippet gauge is going to be extremely handy. However I have used just a set of calipers to gauge my leaders or tippet for a long time. They are super accurate but a bit bulky if you're adding a pair to your arsenal. But if you have a set laying around in the garage it'll make due till the tippet gauge is available from Mad River Outfitters. Hope that helps sombody.
One thing about knots I’ve gotten in my leader, IF I can get them untied, the SHAPE of the leader will have changed! It’ll feel flattened out in places.
I MADE THE CUT! Thanks for all you do for us new fly fishers! My knots were definitely due to creep and I have practiced to fix that as best I can.
Thanks for participating.

We appreciate that. Will pass along to Brian.
I have always used a micrometer for making leaders, and they are not so expensive these days. Keep up the good work Brian, I'm a huge fan 🙂
Thanks for watching and stay tuned for the leader gauge.
Thank you very much for all the totally awesome answers you give... you are really good at teaching us the way things work .
Thanks for watching.

Looking for the casting video you mention. I certainly get bad casting knots. What to do besides looking back more often. thanks!
A link to the video should be in the description down below. Just work on the timing.
@@Madriveroutfitters I don't see the link?
Let us know when you do get this leader gauge. I want to get one!
Of course we will.

Brian mentioned another video about collapsing and fly casting mistakes but I don’t see it linked anywhere?
Check the series called Fly Casting? You should find it there. If not, give him a call at the shop and he'll be happy to help. Thanks.

Sometimes best just to change it....eh?
new to fly fishing. do you have to use tipits or can you just use the leader
The tippet is a part of a leader. You can’t have a leader without tippet. Watch this: ua-cam.com/video/AtXPJszdW9s/v-deo.html
Listen, I need to know who makes the shirt that you always have on?
Definitely sharp and I’m sure it would help me catch more fish lol!
He shops exclusively at Mad River Outfitters and is usually wearing Howler Brothers brand.

great video
Thanks for being here.
The leader straighter not only works well for fly leaders but for all other leaders for fishing.
Agreed. Thanks for watching.
A leader gauge has been needed in the industry for some time. I blame euro nymphers for its demise! 😄
Don't worry....we are bringing one to market soon as he states here.
Leader Straighters are awesome!!!! God even gave me two of them at birth, my hands. :) Thanks for the videos I really do appreciate them.
Yes, as he says here....he was born with a leader straightener but for those that need more.....we sell them. Thanks for watching.
In every video, you know Brian gets serious or is about to drop important information when he reaches back and clips his glasses.
Very true….
I had the numbers backwards... thought the smaller number was smaller
Not sure what you are referring to but feel free to email or call the shop with any questions. They are always happy to help. Thanks.
@@Madriveroutfitters the tippet material
Another planet, great LOL
Thanks for being here.
Brian, love you videos. There is a way to check the diameters on those leader at different points. BUT you have to have a caliper😢😢😢😢
Thanks for watching. As he states here....a leader gauge is on the way. Stay tuned.
This is America! You can do anything you want😂
Well.....almost anything. Thanks for watching.
How does a bite tippet not break the fat kid, skinny kid analogy?
Please send your questions over to Brian directly through the shop and he'll be happy to help/answer. Thanks.
