Low rate technique rehearsing starts elsewhere, here, "paddling" with so much technical thinking and poised effort clear for all to see. Almost all rowing international work on video is "race pace", or mere paddling, from a distance. This is "coach's view" stuff, and so useful to inspire better feelings and thoughts... opium indeed, as you say.
