Me who doesn’t like fantasy except for Rick Riordan and Leigh Bardugo deciding to watch this video: sounds like an afternoon 👁👄👁
i would definitely recommend the raven cycle for anyone looking to start fantasy from an easy start since it’s urban fantasy. think welsh mythology, psychics, magical woods, and some amazing characters!
Thank you
It's so good! Even though I mostly read adult fantasy I still really enjoyed it.
Ashley just embodies fall! She's my comfort youtuber 💗🥺
As much as I love Scythe, I wouldn't recommend it as an intro to fantasy, because it isn't fantasy. Scythe is actually sci-fi, and it is a great intro to sci-fi. It just isnt fantasy
Oooooo thanks
Yes! I thought the same, Scythe is more of a Sci-fi dystopian book book.
Totally don’t understand the difference between fantasy and sci fi
@@Isabella-de7kv simply put, sci-fi deals with technology/technological advances, dystopias, space/space travel and the like. Whereas fantasy deals with magic, magical/mythical creatures, the supernatural, worlds other than our own (not including planets in space)
@@atmreads You pretty much nailed that explanation, though dystopias are definitely something that can occur in fantasy and not just sci-fi. Other than that, you provided a wonderful explanation, ATM!
Holy shit!! She didn't show The Lightning Thief!! Literally shocked. *giggle*
SAME
Nevermoor has been on my radar for a while so I'm definitely gonna pick it up soon !!
I’m just starting to get into fantasy, thanks for letting me know where to start! 😃
I agree with you about Throne of Glass. And even if I didnt it doesnt matter, each to her own. This book and author really grew on me. After watching so many booktubers diss and hate on SJM I really went into thinking im gna hate it but I wanted to form my own opinion. I stuck with Assassins Blade and ToG, and now in the third book...I like it. I really do. Calaena and Chaol after my favorite characters amongst all the fantasy books im reading rn. I have added the series to my September TBR and now my October TBR. I can see myself finishing the series and moving on to Thorn of....whatever those books are called. WHY DO I LIKE IT??? Well... You know there's alot of fantasy out there. YA and Adult. And tbh with whats going on in the world, you really just gotta pick with YOU ENJOY. Fudge the naysayers. Time is short ya'll. Do what you enjoy. DO YOU. And if SJM is your thing. Each to your own
YES the GRACELING is so great 😩
I wanna say..
✨Thank you so much for all the amazing videos that you let us see, Literally I'm loving every video of yours! and hopefully this little message made a little smile on your face ✨
This is the video we all needed. Thank you, ash :)
I just finished all of an ember in the ashes series! I heard them as audiobooks and I can so recommend listening to them!
I'm sad that you recommended not to carry on after Graceling - even if Fire isn't for you I really recommend Bitterblue and Winterkeep where familiar characters are re-introduced! Plus Fire has some Easter egg moments as it's set in the same world just a different magical location.
I love manga but, I really want to start read fantasy 💕 also my sis says I needs to read a book with no pictures 😅
Ashley, almost fall coming out!❤️🍂
I read Scythe and A Song of Wraiths and Ruins only because you recommended them and I can say that I enjoyed both of the books and also love Scythe to death. I trust you more than any book youtuber for good recommendations because you got the taste for sure! Looking forward to reading more books recommended by you
middle grade is my favorite genre! i loved this video!
For Urban Fantasy, I recommend the Daniel Faust series and Harmony Black series from Craig Schaefer. The Harmony Black series is an off shoot from the Faust series, but you can start with it if you wanted to start a shorter series. I started with the Harmony Black series and then went back to read the Faust series and loved getting to know some of the characters better. It didn't hinder my enjoyment of either series. You can't go wrong.
Mistborn is ny favourite fantasy series ever!!! i read Nevermoor by your reccomendation and i loved it!!
I am starting to read fantasy and this was really helpful ty
I recommend "The Court of Miracles" by Kester Grant, I absolutely loved the story! I just couldn't put it down! It is a stand alone sadly but there are 3 love interests in total...An Assassin, The Prince, and A Survivor. The main character is a thief named Nina who is trying to save her sister from a guy called the Tiger. There are guilds of criminals and there are 8-10 guilds, whoever is apart of a guild are protected by that particular guild and are considered family and have to leave their blood family behind but, Nina does not leave her sister. Idk if I explained this well but in the end she does save her sister and I highly recommend this book
As I person who loves Namjooning, I really wanted some new recommendations. Thanks.
I went to the book store the other day and picked a random book off the shelf. I took it home and really regretted not coming here and finding a recommendation. 😭 it was not a good book at all. Next time I’m at the book store, I’m looking for these. Thank you!
Yay! I’m early! For Fantasy!
Please can you put the titles in the description? I find it so handy, and I’m sure I’m not the only one 😊
I just picked up Nevermoor for $3 at BAM. I can’t wait to get into it!
It’s suuuuch a nice book/series! Absolutely love it
What about stand alone fantasy recs, not part of a series
First
Thank you so much for the recommendations
+1 subscriber.... i loved the way you explained them
So glad you included Nevermore! Also they have a release date for book 4!!
When is it?
@@stephaniereese4949 i think it’s sep. 2022
oh oh a recommendation video for people who are getting into adult fantasy because it can get intimidating sometimes
so books like adsom, etc.
I really enjoyed graceling and the throne of glass series but it's not my Sarah j maas book that would be crescent city I really need to check for the sequel to a song of wraiths and ruin
OMG you rec asowar, tog and aeita, 3 of my 5 favorites 🥺🥺🥺
hey did you finish the keeper of the lost cities series?
Hello! Could you review the Lore of HID&GEM / Lore of HDnG? It's a wiki style read with very deep storyline, the fanbases would be super excited to see new reviews and video essays!!!!!!!!
I recommend SCARLETT LOST IN THE FIVE LANDS by Rajendra Sarilla. It's an amazing fantasy novel with powerful female characters and mind blowing war scenes. I read it on Kindle since paperback was not available outside India.
Yes, This is what im looking for
Your really great🥰❤😘😘😍💖
KAYAN KOLLYN: the spiral of the ellmott & messenger of the secret 😊😊😊

Yas to an ember in the ashes 🙌🏻
I've started reading fantasy with The Ruby Red trilogy by Kerstin Gier and I think it's a really good choice for a beginner
Have anyone read it? What are your thoughts?
Love from Poland
@desertrosereads you should definitely finish it, as you said it's fun and easy so it's a good choice when you're overwhelmed with high fantasy and complicated worldbulding
Amri and the night brothers is a good book the 2 one is coming out in Jan of 2022
It’s about a girl who’s brother gose missing and she finds out about a magical world and her goal is to find him
It is a chosen one book so if you don’t like that trope I don’t recommend this book that much
Spoilers
It’s one of those books where she is trying to get a place in a thing and your like she s going to get it and sometimes it’s annoying
I know that wasn’t super spoilery but it kinda is if you read the book
(I’m not making sense )
(I promise I’m better at talking kinda lol)
Nevermoor book 4 comes out not so soon tho, on september 2022
me, trying to recommend fantasy to my sibling who primarily reads contemporary: here read Priory of the Orange Tree 👁👄👁

The iron king is amazing for beginners
