As much as i know as a philosophy enthusiast ,it was not a child who were drinking the water but it was a DOG which came up and drunk the water and gone then diogenes thought this dog drunk water that much quicker and i am keeping this mug. Then he became disciple of a DOG

Fact- Diogenes had a strong affinity towards animals. He lived his life with the dogs on the streets, shared food with them, valued them more than humans and harboured compassion to the extent that he preferred his body to be feasted by animals after death probably a sky burial. The otherwise savage dude had a soft side. Alexander is known to have said ‘ In the next birth god should bring me as a Diogenes rather than an Alexander’
