You know the funny thing I've noticed here? Every human goes through multiple philosophies that can be represented using a DFA (Deterministic Finite Automaton) diagram. This is like proof that we are in a simulation, meaning everything is pre-planned or constrained, so ultimately, nothing matters. Edit 1: But then, this thought itself should also be pre-planned, so we can never be sure if we are thinking in the right direction or not because there is no right direction. This realization led me to an advanced mode that strongly resonates with अद्वैत (Advaita). Yesterday was Father's Day and although my father is no longer in this world, but he was a great philosopher in his own way. He studied almost all religious books and philosophies and after all his hustle, he probably realized everything. However, he knew he couldn't explain it all to a child, so he might have named me in a way that one day I would delve deeply into the meaning of my name. what is 'void' in buddhism is 'full' in advaitya when you see it from the perspective of yourself it is void and if you see it from the perspective of pure consciousness it is full
Buddhism definitely doesn't say it's only void (the video only says this for sake of having to give a long explanation) for the reason that you can still clearly observe that there are feelings/a world etc.; it's the middle/avoidance of extreme nothingness and extreme tangibility; nihilism/annihilationism and eternalismism. it's closer to avdaita in that regard but just that it implies that there's no permanent atman. It also presents deep meditation ("pure consciousness") as a state useful for insight in its jhaana model, either as general deep samaadhi or the "6th jhana / 2nd arupa jhana", but consciousness is also quite "existent yet intangible; observable yet not solid, not reliable" like any other feeling or thought. the stream of consciousness is like a sandy beach stretching down the shore, but when you look closely, it's made of millions of disconnected grains; clearly that's not a void and clearly it's not "full" in the sense of something worth holding on to.
@@Purwapada no, consciousness is "the clear light of the void". It is so that we don't misunderstand it as a "thing", so it is put as "no-thing", not "nothing". Yes, they say the atman doesn't exist, but that's because the idea at that time was that the atman was a thing, which changed with the coming of Advaita, especially with Shankara, and slowly the Buddhists lost the logical grounds, and then popularity.
Every philosophy mentioned in the videos has many different branches under them with changes in them depending on the place like Kashmiri Tantra and culture like in China, Japan, South East Asia. And many philosophies were missing but he still did an excellent job to bring others as most Hindus don't even know 1 of them properly.
We follow a strategy called achintya bhedabhed tattva where we understand that there is a difference between the creator and the player and player can never become the creator however there are a few qualities of the creator in the player but not in full.

I resonate with each and every one of them to some extent (with a bias for Karmyog and Itihasa) and feel a sense of completeness after watching this video as your way of describing these philosophies is like connecting really abstract pieces of a puzzle while making sense of why every piece exists. Its like finding words to describe what I have always observed and is something abstract but never known what to make of it. Thanks for this video Ashris, you made my day! I will share this with some like minds too.
>>Bhakti and Charvaka are two extreme ends >>Advaita and Buddhism are opposites of each other >>Buddhism and Jainism are the opposite in terms of dealing with suffering. >>Nyay and Purana are opposites as Purana is about learning everything, while Nyay about questioning everything. >>Smarta is the most encompassing, so it will go against Kashmir shaivism, which sounds Henothiestic >> Mimansa and Tantra have same methodology but different approaches
@Priyadarshannn Tantra is liberal huh ? I have listened to Rajashri Nandy, and it all sounds actually more strict than vedic path as it is like a FastTrack process so you need proper guidance and there is a most difficult Vamachara where you'll have to some things like offering Panchamakara is mandatory, he himself as a upashak had said this.
Won't say they are opposite of each other.. they both are just pointing to same direction.. words have limit, so they can't represent the truth..only experience of truth
My father has always said that Hinduism is not a religion, but a way of life. It has something for everyone. It is a way to discern the nature of reality. As a young Indian, I do hope that all youth of India explore the philosophies of hinduism spiritually, instead of being swayed by zealots who wish to establish It as an organised religion like the abrahamic religions. It is a mere gimmick for control , it is an exploitation of bhakti. We must resist this tarnishing of our great way of life, and we must advance It with more ideas by intellectual excersize.

It's just overview. We are just going with conventional categorisation. But remember many of these have converged at many places. Gita, one of the three pillar of vedanta has sankhya, yoga in it, too. All 6 darshana agree and keep veda as authority. So all converge in vedanta. Shri Krishna In gita says..all jnani are nishkam karm yogi. One cannot exist without karma(action). So jnana is also given to do right karma. So everything converge. Only difference that is seen is bcz all of these have emerged at different times, and with diff terminologies

As a smooth brain Westerner who grew up in a godless new baby culture, I have been piece by piece been trying to understand the vastness of Hindu Philosophy and practise.
Thank you!! I hope this has some international recognition!! This helps a good bit to know what all these mean and to see what resonates most. Thank you India for being such a long time deep thinking culture

Every culture and country has had deep thinkers and philosophers ; not just India . The Roman philosophy is great too , so is the Indian one . One should always be a learner and try to strive for the truth
@@Bimla-rj4gh Though I agree, it doesn't mean those philosophers' ideas embed themselves in the culture. Most of the actually epic western philosophers ran counter-culture and still are, though you could argue for the integration of their ethics. Indian culture has been more skilled at integrating different ideas than many.
@@LisahTaliIndian culture was always on spirituality which is missing in West and West society was about social and industrial which is missing in india
u know what ... we never know that some of these philosophies might have been practiced and borrowed from else where as well of the ancient world.. but credit has to be given that India being the only country that took on the wave of abrahamisation head on and protected its culture from being completely vanished unlike the other ancient cultures ... look to the west of India every continent is more or less islamised or christianised ... Its India where Arabs/Turks/Afghans/Brits/French/Dutch/Portuguese all managed to colonise at some or the other point but yet majority still resisted and managed to remain Hindu making it the oldest living civilisation

what is 'void' in buddhism is 'full' in advaitya
when you see it from the perspective of yourself it is void
and if you see it from the perspective of pure consciousness it is
full
Pessimism vs optimism, charvakas and ajvikas wins with realism😂 😂
Buddhism definitely doesn't say it's only void (the video only says this for sake of having to give a long explanation) for the reason that you can still clearly observe that there are feelings/a world etc.; it's the middle/avoidance of extreme nothingness and extreme tangibility; nihilism/annihilationism and eternalismism. it's closer to avdaita in that regard but just that it implies that there's no permanent atman.
It also presents deep meditation ("pure consciousness") as a state useful for insight in its jhaana model, either as general deep samaadhi or the "6th jhana / 2nd arupa jhana", but consciousness is also quite "existent yet intangible; observable yet not solid, not reliable" like any other feeling or thought. the stream of consciousness is like a sandy beach stretching down the shore, but when you look closely, it's made of millions of disconnected grains; clearly that's not a void and clearly it's not "full" in the sense of something worth holding on to.
void/emptiness is non dualism. Buddhist Madhyamaka rejects shiva/conscious ground as reified
We can put it simply as zero leads to infinity 0 --> ♾️ (mathematically)
@@Purwapada no, consciousness is "the clear light of the void". It is so that we don't misunderstand it as a "thing", so it is put as "no-thing", not "nothing". Yes, they say the atman doesn't exist, but that's because the idea at that time was that the atman was a thing, which changed with the coming of Advaita, especially with Shankara, and slowly the Buddhists lost the logical grounds, and then popularity.

what a brilliant BRILLIANT video. i have just discovered the gems of indian philosophy for the first time from this. this has been quite impactful.
I have been surrounded by so many schools of thought of Hindu religion since my childhood and never knew that such well defined categorizations actually existed.
>>Bhakti and Charvaka are two extreme ends
>>Advaita and Buddhism are opposites of each other
>>Buddhism and Jainism are the opposite in terms of dealing with suffering.
>>Nyay and Purana are opposites as Purana is about learning everything, while Nyay about questioning everything.
>>Smarta is the most encompassing, so it will go against Kashmir shaivism, which sounds Henothiestic
>> Mimansa and Tantra have same methodology but different approaches
@Priyadarshannn Tantra is liberal huh ? I have listened to Rajashri Nandy, and it all sounds actually more strict than vedic path as it is like a FastTrack process so you need proper guidance and there is a most difficult Vamachara where you'll have to some things like offering Panchamakara is mandatory, he himself as a upashak had said this.
Yoga that I practice and what is actually can be called as yoga is a mix of Advaita, tantra and kashmiri shaivism.
@@brutalcombatant5355 a good guide in tantra shows you a shortcut , a bad guide screws up your entire being💀
Advaita and Buddhism aren't exactly opposite. If you compare both, you are either nothing or everything. They are both two sides of the same coin.
