TMG stands for Trimethylglycine. It’s a form of Glycine that has 3 methyl groups bonded to it. Tri meaning 3. Methyl meaning methyl groups and glycine meaning the amino acid Glycine. TMG is also commonly referred to as betaine. It has many benefits and some potential side effects. When considering any supplement you should always do your research and consult with your doctor.

I take a lot of supplements. At what point is "enough is enough"? 200 capsules, pills and powder per day? And what of adverse interactions between the supplement cocktail I'm ingesting each day? I also see a lot of "can", "may", "should", "might", etc. describing the supplements. That's not scientific, it borders on guess work. And the cost for all of these supplements gets prohibitive.

Recommendations for TMG dosage seem to range from 500mg to 3grams per day. So, yes you are on the lower end of the range with 500mg. If you want to start with an even lower dose you could consider splitting that in half and start with that. Hope that helps.

Hi, I agree with not over thinking it. My understanding is that most people who are taking TMG (betaine) for athletic performance are taking around 1 to 1.5 grams per day often split up in 2 doses. Some people take more depending on height and weight etc. I've been taking 1 gram per day every day usually in the afternoon. I've taking 2 grams before but most often I just do 1 gram. I would recommend doing a little research especially as it pertains to your specific goals but I hope that helps.
