I also want to learn the 2D animation style of Disney, because of its fluidity and expressiveness. I really admire their animators!
That's great Arn! 😊 I always felt the same way!
Same here!
@@yoshi_chuck05 maybe with a lot of practice we'll be able to learn it!
Ok. Ok.
People why this video called" disney way of animation" or smth. When its literaly showing off , like the basic thing that most of the compitent to any degree animators do?
Gotta be honest, Yzma is probably the best female Disney villain. Lol And Kronk is the best sidekick.
Hello Sheikah! 😃 On the straight side Cinderella's step mom scares me, but on comedy Yzma
is the winner! What's going on between her and Kronk at the dinner table it's Top comedy material!!!
@@PixiGags Agreed! Lol
She also makes a cute cat 🐱
“is that my voice? is that MY voice? oh well.” LITERALLY ONE OF MY FAVORITE PARTS FROM THE EMPEROR’S NEW GROOVE BAHSJAJJAA
😊😃
Fun fact that line was actually adlibbed. Eartha Kitt (Yzma’s actress) was completely shocked by the filter on her voice and that was her actually asking the voice director if that “was her voice” she was hearing.
lol first I tought at the three breakdowns "dam das alotta frames" and then the inbetweens.. it still amazes me how people managed to create such high effort animations, thats so impressive even with a huge team
Yes dear Kein 🙂 classical animation requires dedication! 😊

Cool thx!😁
You're welcome Snou! 😊
Oh my God! Thanks for this 👊 A question, in inbetween they normally use more slow in and out or favoring or thirds? Thanks❤
Hello Renata 😊 You are very welcome! That's a good question, actually the best way is if you try to imagine the action as a all.. even if they chart sometimes drawing by drawing try to visualize how the chart for the all movement should be!
Check this one for example:
www.pinterest.dk/pin/611152611924950018/
That's the chart for the all movement, but usually it's divided up, a part per drawing(usually to indicate the needed in-betweens from a drawing to the next)... so if you have a 3rd or a half, that is part of the bigger context.
Some animators (like myself) preferer using fewer but longer charts.
Different body parts can have separate charts, like the body slows in, but the hand arrives a bit later, for example.
Sometimes you have quicker actions, like an eye blink or a finger pointing, that can be a
3rd favorizing the previous drawing, because you want to shoot out, then in the next drawing where the finger settles back that can be a slow-in favorizing the last settling pose. It depends of the action. 😃
I hope it makes sense! 🥰
@@PixiGags Wow! thank you very much Pixi for the valuable information. I will test this yes. Very nice of you to share your preferences too, thanks again.❤
How you explain the scene ... so helpful 😘
Glad it was helpful! 😊
The lip sync is so smooth I can hear what hes saying
Thank you so much Elena! 🙂🙏
Btw as an animator my self without help or i think from alanbaker i learned that and it helps a lot with the first action then inbetweens
Yes indeed, Jazzy! That makes sense. I am sure that with time you will find a personal method that will suit your needs and temperament! 😊✨👍
Hey, this is really cool! These type of videos keep helping me doing my animations looking smoother!
Also, I have a question, did you ever saw the animation about Rikki Tikki Tavi? It's impressive but, I watched also something about The Jungle Book, and this one is a great one, I would say.
Ever watched " The White Seal "? The animations of Kotick swimming are so good! I wonder if you know this one
Thank you Delta! 😊 I love all Chuck Jones movies and shorts! You refer to "Mowgli's brother", yes... it's amazing.😃👍 "Rikki Tikki Tavi" I also like a lot, with Orson Wells voice over! I have also seen "The White Seal", he did a version of "Peter and the Wolf" and also a Feature Film called "Gay Purr-ee"!
@@PixiGags I watched Gay Purr-e! And I loved it when i was younger. I really like movies about cats, it's a good thing to watch now being older, because it's like a reference to how animate. Chuck Jones is great with what he does! It's great to know someone with a nice taste!
This is a really good video, it helped me quite a lot! If you don't mind me asking, what animating website do you use? Thanks for the video!
Hello Nickis! :D You are welcome, I am glad you find this helpful! If you mean what program I use that would be TVPaint!
@@PixiGags Thanks! I subbed :D
Я один это пересматриваю только из-за озвучки?
How do you plan inbetweens when making your timing charts? I struggle with mine because it feels like I just add eases on everything but this seems much more fluid!
Hello Ashley!
Thanks for the interesting question. For a more classical style, I plan the entire scene with timing charts and arcs. Yes, there are slow-ins and slow-outs at some points in the action. You can see my charts in this video:
ua-cam.com/video/-otLeU1oUm4/v-deo.html
For a more limited approach, I focus on favoring the extremes, sometimes incorporating smear drawings and then a slow-in. Here's an example:
ua-cam.com/video/TVh44vb8jRQ/v-deo.html
I have also made this tutorials about timing charts:
ua-cam.com/video/05vVdkreEkQ/v-deo.html
ua-cam.com/video/yz-NiH__NQE/v-deo.html
I hope this helps! Wishing you all the best on your journey! ✌☘

Hey Pix I’ve been watching your videos for a while now and they help me a lot I still am not as good as you lol, but I wanted to ask what apps or devices and stuff do you use to make animations because I can’t seem to find good animation apps for me
Dear Lily, thank you so much for reaching out! 😃 I use "TVPaint", many followers use "Flipaclip", I was recommended a cheap program at some point called "The Rough Animator"... and if you would like to try it, "Animation Paper" is officially available for free at the moment:

Thank you so much Lydia! 😊 You are so kind!!!
This is really interesting! I just thought that it would be more clear to do the inbetween lines in the scheme with different lengths
So it was more clear the hierarchy and in which order you did those
I guess this is entirely a pose to pose process (?)
Hi, Haruh_ink! Thank you for your input! Regarding the process, yes, it's primarily a pose-to-pose approach, but remember that sometimes, after making the breakdowns, the drawings can be adjusted to make some of the details work better. Thank you for your interest, and all the best! 😺✌
this is interesting... Anime only do 1 breakdown between 2 keys
will try applying this in future animations
I'm thrilled that you find this method interesting! I'm sure you'll enjoy experimenting with it in your future animations.
Its like making trackpoint locations and than create the bridges between each of them.
Absolutely! It really streamlines the animation planning process and makes everything much more manageable!

@@PixiGags yes fr! Thanks for answering!
Questo video è utilissimo! Mi sarebbe molto utile come esercizio 💕
Ciao Stefy!! 😊🙂✨🌼 Mi fa piacere trovi utile questo video!!! 👍
This isnt "how to animate like disney", this is just how all pose to pose animation is done, not just disney.
There are 2 main types of animating, pose to pose (what is here) (("blocking" is what its called in 3D)) that is used for complicated or long motions that change expression and pose a lot.
The secondis straight ahead, where you just keep going ahead blind without any ahead planning of poses, better for more random and spontaniouse animation, such as animating physics.
Now what differs disneys style from beguinners, is the understanding of pantomime, basically talking with your bodylaunguange and facial expressions, not just lipsyncing. For pantomime, you have to study and practise it to get good, its a matter of learning aand getting used to how exadurated movements are for spacific actions. The more you study and test things out from what you learn, the better you will get ^-^
Bardzo ci dziękuję za ten materiał jak zawsze robisz pracę pierwsza klasa :) ps. Przepraszam że po polsku piszę

Hello Jay! :D You will find a flower blooming in this tutorial:
ua-cam.com/video/MSqgvXAlb34/v-deo.html
I wish you added in the inbetween frames like you did with everything else, but thanks for the vid.
Hello Matt, that's good to know! The reason is that I try to keep the videos a minute length, so I prioritized the new information. I will probably make un updated tutorial on a preferable animation method, including inbetweening. If you missed it, this explains inbetweening:
ua-cam.com/video/z48FqEWab1s/v-deo.html
@@PixiGags Thank you very much for providing me a link to a video about inbetweening and for taking the time to reply to me. Sorry for sounding churlish before.
how exactly would you figure out where to put the breakdowns? like what pose to make them?
Hello GOOSEFLAVORED! 😃 The breakdowns create an interesting movement between 2 keys. Let's say you have a character facing left in the 1st Key, and facing right in the 2nd Key, in the main breakdown you can decide that the face turns 1st, while the body is still closer to the original position... so the head will turn and the body will follow a few frames later.
Instructions unclear:They want another.
Or thisss...Is that my voice? (Cough) is that, my voice?, oh well.

Hi Arnaud, I hope you are well! That sounds like an amazing opportunity, it's wonderful that you had the chance to learn from Mike Wiesemer. Keep up the great work!
Can anyone help me understand the difference between breakdowns and in-betweens? They seem like the same thing to me..
Hello Away! The Breakdowns makes some kind of change in the movement, the inbetweens only fill out the existing movement. For example, if between 2 keys the character's head goes down, the hair drag and the arms go up, that's a breakdown. If all the body parts would just go straight from point A to point B without variations, that´s an inbetween.
@@PixiGags Oh my gosh, that's so helpful. THANK YOU not only for your content but for such a lovely response! Your videos inspire me to practice.

So you figure out the timing before the breakdowns?
In general yes, you can have a look at this video about timing:
ua-cam.com/video/eih15t77NUg/v-deo.html
Having said that, some animators animate straight ahead and figure out the timing later.
