A lot of people don't find pleasure in reading or struggle getting into habbits, so it can be a bit of a push for some. It was like that for me for awhile, but I eventually got into a solid habit and its now an essential part of my day and the most rewarding.

Oh, what a fool I am! I knew how important and vitally critical it was to read the Scriptures everyday, but how PROUD I was to believe I personally would be fine without it! I am often deceived that just in taking theology nonstop would be okay, but now I realize how much I NEED God’s mana. I’m a relatively new believer (A year and three months old), but has anyone else had a similar problem?

    • @s.a.6082

Yes it’s normal as a new believer (babe in Christ) to take time to fall into spiritual disciplines like reading the Bible every day. I didn’t read it every day until I started to truly hunger and thirst for scripture. It’s a process of sanctification that Jesus does through you.

Yes. Thank God that He put it on my heart to download 3 separate bible apps on my phone for quick reference purposes when I first began. I say this because each one has a devotional setting that gives a verse notification at a time you set. I set them for 7am, 12pm, and 7pm. And since I can't read a verse without context and not be convicted, this causes me to read around 3 * chapters * every day even when I am being pulled in other directions. Reading from the book from front to back is always better though, in my opinion, but at least these apps won't allow me to stop reading all together when things get busy. God bless you in Christ Jesus our Lord! Sorry for the long reply, lol, just wanted to praise God for what He has given.

This was definitely one of the hardest and still is the hardest thing for me to do, as I have been a catholic all my life, I've heard all there is to hear...well in general that is.
I never found it in me to pick up the Bible and reread or read on my own, it was always "the priest will read it and explain it anyway"
But when the Lord called me back to him after all these years of wandering , I picked up the Bible and I realized how little I knew

Reading the bible is what helped me quit the catholic church. The more I read the bible, the more the Holy Spirit exposed the deceit of the evil church. I joined the church in fifth grade at 11 years. High school and tertiary were all Catholic schools. Even my 1st job was in a catholic hospital. Around 30 years I started reading my bible at home and got born again. I remained in the church but felt uncomfortable. It was until when I turned 54 years that I quit. My job now is to pray for my family for their salvation. You are talking of children and grandchildren.

After like 40 years I finally decided to read the Bible from book to book starting with the New Testament. I've read the Bible all my life but not in a very focused purpose driven way. Now that I've started doing it, it's been a Christian-game changer. I literally read word by word thinking about their meanings and looking up things if I don't understand. I also write my thoughts about what I just read and share it with my girlfriend and so does she. Now I cannot imagine a Christian who doesn't read the Bible, it's not possible to be faithful to God the way we ought to be without reading the Bible. You're also susceptible to fall for false teaching if you don't have the knowledge of the scripture because you don't know what is right and wrong. That's how many people fall into false teachings.

The devil and the world bombards us with so much on a daily basis, reading scripture washer and renews our mind. if you try to live your christian life without the word, you will be an easy target for the devil to torment, the sin senses will probably become dull and your spirit man will be very weak and the temptations will be hoarding you like a mob.

  • @AnHebrewChild
    @AnHebrewChild 2 роки тому

Why does he say "being in the word, capital W" at about 2:15?
If he's talking about the written word, that word "written in ink & pen" (2 Cor 3) is not the capital w, it's a lowercase. By English custom (a good one, I think), the capital W is Jesus the Word: who is our Lord and our God.
Not that there is not some transferable identity between the two. Hebrews 4:16 comes to mind: For THE WORD OF GOD is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in HIS sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of HIM with whom we have to do.
But just as the biblical teaching of trinity makes careful distinction between the roles of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost (per Jesus himself making distinction, John 15, Matt 28; also 1 John 5:7 and... Isaiah 48:16! Etc) so it is right to make a distinction between the written word and The Word (which is God himself).
The Bible is a perfectly sufficient pointer to God, but it is not comprehensive of God. "In him (The Word) dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily," but in the written word of "ink & pen" the eternal & infinite fulness of the Godhead does not reside. The written word is BEAUTIFUL and precisely what God has appointed us to have, but it as a small appetizer portion of the things of him.
A whole world of books cannot contain him. Not even a whole world of bible books.
"And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen." JOHN 21:25
Loving the love letter (the word) comes derivative of loving the Beloved (The Word).

Hi Kenneth , read from the begining is you can. That is from Genesis. As you go on reading the predictions of the past come true , that is a savior is sent by god just as he promised. As you go on reading after the resurrection of Jesus you will find what the deciples of Jesus did and how they spread the word with the help of the holy spirit who got to come down after Jesus went up. He is still here . After that there are predictions of the future. But it is more in the form of a poem , or somthing like , that is not understandable simply , but has a meaning under it. It is mentioned the holy spirit will go back . Once you read the whole Bible, the small doubts you had which were not connecting will fall into place. You will get to know how God operates, how he faithful, how long he takes to give what he promised , what he likes and dislikes , how to keep him happy.
