      @PlantyPrincess I grow most of my hoyas in pons, I also have a scindapsis in pons, and I'm getting ready to grow my linearis in pons. I've been growing my hoya linearis cuttings in water for months after they rooted and they are doing extremely well. When I grow my linearis in soil, it grows to a certain length and then it starts to go downhill. I've noticed that I have been able to convert a lot of my plants easier when they developed their water roots after propagation.

      I will be transplanting most of my Hoya to pon also! That’s so crazy I hear that all the time with different plants. Hopefully growing it in pon will keep it growing and moving forward after the point it would normally start to go downhill.

    Happy Mother’s Day Ashley. Wow those roots, 👍🏻 nice. Great idea to boil the pon, will do that next time, it’s so important. Fingers crossed for your babies🤞. I’m so in love with pon and no going back lol. I still have a lot of plants in soil too, but my prized ones in pon. I bought pots with reservoirs on Amazon with a wicking system so u don’t need to worry about the pon drying out,the plants love it. They have them in small and large sizes, white plastic with clear reservoirs☺️. Can’t wait for a successful update.

      Thank you! Happy Mother’s Day to you too! Do you have kids or just plant babies? Lol either way your still a mommy! I know I was expecting them to all be like the Kenejiana maybe a little more rooted but I didn’t expect the full lusciousness that they were so I was like YAASSS! Lol I’m loving it to. I had a few plants in pure lava rocks so a similar concept and I was loving that so pon is going to just be that much more better with the two extra ingredients! I won’t go back either lol slowly but surly I’ll be transplanting most of my plants to pon! And that’s awesome I might look into some of those wicking systems! Thanks!

      🤗🤗love happy updates. Just plant babies ☺️, career, house and hubby keeps me busy enough at the moment 😂. The wicking pots are so convenient, especially now that hopefully more traveling or get aways and they stay hydrated at least a week or more🙌

But yes those are great for traveling even if you wouldn’t want to use them on a regular basis a great idea for vacations for sure! It’s amazing some of the stuff people come up with!

      Your 2 girls are so adorable, love seeing them on the channel. I know right, so convenient, a d with wicking it takes up just enough that the roots need. I’m buying two things I need on Friday to make your pon, I’ll use your links☺️

      Thank you! ☺️ yes I’m definitely getting some wicking pots! If you don’t have zeolite yet I was searching on Amazon for a better price and found 5.7 lbs for like $13 opposed to the 6 lbs I bought on Etsy for like $34! I added that link in there to and order some the other day just to be sure it’s good before I continue recommending it lol

    If you purchase premade, it comes with fertilizer. So would you still rinse?

    • @NailzByA
      @NailzByA  3 роки тому +1

      Yes I personally would and still would recommend to get any residue or loose dust lingering on the rocks. Also it’s a slow release fertilizer so rinsing it won’t rinse away all the fertilizer. Hope this helps! Thank you so much for watching!

    When do you know when to water them?

    • @NailzByA
      @NailzByA  3 роки тому +3

      So with pon, when using it by itself not mixed with soil, you can use it semi hydroponically and always keep it in a reservoir of water about a third of the way up the pot but below the root line if possible or you can water it like you would plants in soil. It depends on the plant and how much water it requires but generally I wait until the pon has dried a bit for plants that like to stay moist. So when half of the pot is dry I’ll give it another watering. For Hoyas or plants that are sensitive to over water like, in my experience, my variegated adansonii I let it dry completely and then still wait a few days before I give those plants another watering. How long you wait though also depends on several factors like how much light they get, how much humidity they get, what the temp is around them and stuff like that. Also plants that are a little more resilient I let dry out and wait a few days like with my Philodendron Brandy. Now I’ve been growing that one just in lava rocks, until a few days ago when I transplanted it into pon, which is a similar concept but I will continue to water it that way in pon too since it’s been growing so well. Remember this medium is like quadruple the amount more porous than soil so it does let a lot more air to the roots to help prevent them from becoming “too” wet but also because they are porous they hold in moisture to. I hope this helps you a bit with watering in any medium there is no time limit since so many factors come into play but hopefully this will give you a general idea of when and how to water plants in pon! Thank you for watching!

      Your welcome! Hoped that helped! Someone else just told me you can use pots with the strings and a water reservoir so the string wicks the water up to keep the pon moist. If your interested in that do some research there!
