That would’ve been true if they had drafted one of the top left tackles. But they didn’t and it won’t.
As a Chiefs fan, even with Aiden the Raiders will be better than both the Chargers and Broncos. That D line is stacked. The O line is rock solid and tracking even better. Aiden just has to be a game manager and they can stay in most games.

Corner is really not that important given how effective their D-line will be. That is a really an overrated position of need considering they might not have to do much if that D-line is as effective as their projected to be.
Right tackle is also not that important when you have a guy like Jackson-Powers because when you watch his tape, he not only holds his own but he was constantly helping his guards win their own battles. Raider fans need to sit back and watch the show, eat their chips and quit barking. Lol

@@cyberft Thayer Munford who played over 500 snaps last year(at both RT and LT) actually graded out better than Elumenor, who we lost in free agency. Munford and Elumenor were comparable in pass pro(Munford gave up 4 sacks to Elumenors 6), but, Munford was significantly better in run blocking, which is important for a RT. Munford also took less penalties(1 all season). Given that Munford is still just 24, its entirely realistic that Munford will still continue to improve and develop. Additionally, adding a guy like JPJ to the line could, and should, also see the line, as a whole, improve.
@@Cristian-kt5bs I dont know if he wouldnt have been any good for us, it just didnt make sense for us to pay him what he got, if the coaches feel like they can get similar production out of Munford, who is still on a 7th round rookie contract. I thinking letting him go was much less an indictment on Elumenor, than it was a vote of confidence in Munford.
@@luked78 I see what you mean(I am a pff subscriber too), although they were not comparable in pass blocking, as 5pts better is pretty significant. That’s the difference between 1st team all-pro and the guy widely considered the best ever Trent Williams and Kolton Miller.

Nobody is giving AOC any chance to be an outstanding quarterback for the Raiders, but if he’s given a chance, I think he has a great deal of ability, not dissimilar from Stout in Houston. Let’s give the kid a shot it with a decent line in front of him.
BTW, for what it’s worth I think Telesco is the best thing that happened to the Raiders since Gruden left. His choices have been outstanding. I am less convinced that Pierce will be that good as a coach. But we will see.

Do you all look at stats at all? We had a top 10 offensive line last season and it got BETTER in the draft, so to say Brady going to get BLOWN UP makes no sense.
And Brady makes OL’s better with his play…and they drafted OL…they will be a top 5 OL with him in the pocket!
AOC rookie stats are the same as minshews career outside of the interception ratio. AOC needs to learn to move but he'll get use to the speed, ya slp on him AOC12🤙
The Raiders WERE NOT taking Penix at 13. Hondo Carpenter who has GM’s and execs in the NFL and within the organization as friends, said they wouldn’t have taken Penix at 13.
That said, compare Minshew’s numbers since his rookie year to the Jags so called franchise qb! They are almost identical. Yet I don’t hear you all saying the Jags need a qb.
Finally Aiden had 9 td’s and 1 interceptions over his last 5 games and went 3-1 verses the afc west. He did that with half a playbook and a OC that had never been one and a rookie head coach and no snaps in mini camp. I’m sure he’ll be just fine.
Honestly, it’s not hard to imagine that had he been in this draft, after what he showed his rookie year, that he was easily a better prospect than at least two of those qb’s taken in the first this year! Especially Nix who was a 3rd round talent at best!
The Raiders had the best defense in the nfl when AP took over and also was the least penalized team. They came within a game of the Playoffs and Minshew is who beat them. They will be just fine.

The raiders had a top 10 offensive line in 2023.
The Raiders had a top 12 offensive line last season. They added Jackson Powers-Johnson. It will be even better this season.

I feel like the Raiders got better in the draft especially at the O line, more specifically at the interior which is the part that protects the QB even though it’s 5 guys altogether. They have a pretty good defense as a Chiefs fan. All the QBs were gone. Brady would have to give up his ownership stake plus his kids don’t wanna see him get hit anymore and he wants to be around for them.

The ironic thing about the (6) QBs drafted ahead of the 13, good chance that 3 of them will be out of the league within 5 years. It's all a crap shoot so even if one of the those QBs had fallen to us at 13, taking them for the sake of getting a QB would have been an absolutely stupid move. Highly likely Bowers has a longer career then most of them.
Honestly I wouldn't have liked it if the Raiders took McCarthy or Nix at all and I wouldn't have traded up for Penix either who I think will end up as the 3rd best qb in the draft. Most of these qbs taken in the top 10 will not pan out.
I think the Raiders did the right thing they got the best player on the board.
QB's weren't gone. They only wanted two or three. With Aiden Oconnell, they feel they can win Next year. Gardner is there to push Aiden. The team believes in him. So put a team around him, give him weapons and let him Game Manage, like Cam says...

The raiders aren’t finding a QB better than Mahomes or Herbert anytime soon so we can’t fight fire with fire. Instead fight fire with water. Run 12 personnel, run the ball, use a veteran QB who can get first downs and control the clock and build around great line play then hire a defensive coach to excel at that side of the ball. The raiders are doing all the right things given that mahomes and Herbert are in their division

No we are NOT hurt. We wanted Jayden and we were willing to settle for Penix but once we saw they were gone what we weren’t gonna do was panick and join the frenzy. We drafted pretty well signed Wilkins in FA we’re building a good team. Sucks we couldn’t make it happen but look at how other teams reached. The Falcons made a dumb move and the Broncos were left with Nix who in reality is a person who has no business being drafted that high. I’m good with how it turned out. I wanted Jayden but once that was done I myself wanted nothing to do with who was remaining. Huge reaches by multiple teams. Miss me with all nonsense.

The Raiders basically just blew another year. Now I’m someone who’s usually REALLY against giving up huge draft capital for one player. It rarely works out and, as they say, “Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.” (One player drafted vs. many for those lousy at math. And there are many of those types around here.). But the Raiders need “their guy.” I’m assuming they have a couple of bridge quarterbacks currently but they have no chance in that division, especially now. As Queen might sing, “Another year bites the dust.”

There was never at any time in the last 2 months any realistic possibility that a team was trading to 2.
There WAS a possibility a team could trade into the top 10 to get one of the other QBs, which is what Raiders, Saints, and Seahawks all tried doing this year.
@@codyb.3015 The rumor is that they tried. But, if they tried, and didnt, that kinda means they couldnt, OR, they didnt want Penix THAT bad. Personally, i didnt want Penix at all in the first, let alone trading up for him. The guy was the worst(by a wide margin) of the top qb's throwing the ball under pressure. He also struggles to throw the ball on short to imtermediate routes. The kind of plays that move the chains and keep your defense off the field. You can't run an offense in the NFL that is predicated almost entirely on throwing bombs, and not crush your defense. And, being that he IS already old, struggling to throw short to intermediate is a red flag to me. He SHOULD have the easy stuff under control by this point. You can mask his deficiences under pressure, but you can't mask issues throwing short passes.
He coulda took Rattler or Pratt in other rounds. Some years they would be seen as top QBs this class is just different. Raiders should look into trading for Cousins. ( just cause he has a no trade clause doesn't mean he can't waive it) Kirk might not be ready for OTA s Penix Jr will not just have #1 on his jersey for those weeks

I don’t think a current owner should be able to play. But if the league allowed it, if Brady were minority owner of the Raiders and played for the Raiders, most of the conflict-of-issues problems disappear. I still think it’s a bad idea though.
Brady IS NOT a current owner. The deal has not gone through.
The ownership deal still hasn't been finalized, but realistically if Brady was ever going to play a down for the Raiders it would've been back in 2020. The deal was done but Gruden vetoed it.

So we didn't take one of the top 2 O-lineman in the draft at 13, but we got the best player in the draft at 13, and 2 of the top 6 OL's in the draft in round 2, 3, a beast of a linebacker in the 5th, and one of the best safeties in the 7th. Give the Raiders credit for a lot of smoke and serious poker face. (moving to Vegas is starting to pay off)

They built an offense thats stacked enough to where they don't need Superman at QB to succeed, it's the Kyle Shanahan blueprint
By building the rest of the roster, they put themselves in a position to comfortably trade up for a qb next year, if the opportunity presents itself. The Chiefs were a playoff team when they traded up for Mahomes. The Niners had a stacked roster when they traded up for Lance. Lance didnt work out, but they lucked out with Purdy, who prob WOULDNT have worked out so well, if they didnt have that stacked roster around him.
