The project will investigate the environmental potential of geometric altimetry enabled by satellite navigation, to increase safety, support greener climb and descent operations, while also optimising capacity. At the same time, the project will investigate the potential of environmentally-driven route charging to incentivise airspace users to avoid volumes of airspace with a high climate impact and disincentivise flight planning through high demand sectors / flight altitudes.
