Just another note, disconnect the battery when changing anything electrical in your car so you dont short out anything, and don't change the bulb when your car is on
Just what i needed for my 20 year old avensis. Wasn't in the owners manual Always good to find the correct way of doing it , otherwise you might break something in the process, particularly in the case of plastics
Thanks Swell, I appreciate the help. My issue is that I usually break something. You make it look easy and I'm going to try changing it out tomorrow here in Lake Worth. Thanks again! I'm sick of the interior being black and scary when I get in at night.
Great video. Here's a tip to make them last longer: wear some plastic gloves when touching light bulbs because the grease on your fingers could heat the bulb and cause it to burn out faster
I pulled the wee bulb out of my old Tracker, and the filament (?) seems to be fine, but the metal ends of the bulb look a bit corroded. I'm hoping a new bulb will work, and it's not the wiring that is a mess. ~ Thanks for the video!
On my Nissan Sentra 2001 the bulb says 12v 8w and when I went to AutoZone to buy the bulb they only had 12v10w bulbs i bought it still just to see if they work and when I insert one , the dome won't turn on. Does the wattage of the bulb matter? Or is it another type of issue inside the car
No, should fit either direction. The bulb doesn't "know" which side is positive or negative, it just needs a charge running through it (either direction) to light up.
I have a 2000 Buick Park avenue. The dome lights do not have tabs I've tried pulling them out jiggling them out forcing them out afraid I'm going to break the light and cut myself HELP ME 😊
I have a question. My dome light is working, but the on/off switch has lost its' grip. For example, when I try to turn it to the on position, it just slides loosely, there is no click or grip. Please help me figure it out! I don't want to go to a mechanic. Thank you!
Late getting to you... sorry about that. I just saw this. I think you'll probably need to buy a new "housing" for your whole dome light. It's not a really complicated repair, but it's certainly more difficult than just replacing a light bulb.
i tried to use supply from interior light of the car. when i check voltage it gives 9 to 10 v but when i tried to test it with dc motor , the dc motors remained its turned off condition , what is the reason behind this ?
No, you need to find the bulb that your car needs -- look it up by make, model and year of your car. You can go to an auto repair place and ask for help, and they can find you the exact bulb you need. Shouldn't cost more than maybe $5.
daniel moreno No, I've never tried LEDs. Until you asked, I didn't even know that was an option. It looks like there are LEDs that would fit, but I think I'll stick with the tungsten bulb--I like the color temperature of the light given off by the traditional bulb, rather than the LEDs. Do you use LEDs in your car?
Yeah I'm pretty sure they've been around for awhile. I recently put an LED light for my license plate light. It's 6000k and a lot brighter and even looks nicer in my opinion. You should check them out. Big difference especially at night. Stands out too.
Hmmm..... well, assuming the bulb you installed is good and it is properly installed, then that means you have some problem with the electrical system. It could be the dome light receptacle / fixture, or some of the wires leading to it. It could be there is a fuse burnt out that just needs to be replaced. (Sometimes the fuse box is under the hood, sometimes it's tucked below the dash board on the interior of the car--but either way, changing fuses is cheap and easy.) I'm sorry that changing the bulb didn't fix it for you. You might check if other electrical systems are not working (like a bank of lights on your dashboard), which would indicate a fuse might be burnt out. Or, just locate the fuse box and find the one that corresponds with the dome light. If it's an electrical problem (like the wires aren't making the connection to the fixture), that's more expensive and a bit of a hassle. For a dome light it may not be worth fixing, depending on how old your car is.
8 years later and this man is still saving broken dome lights. 11/10 video
10 years now saving broken dome lights
"Who wants to drive withiout a dome light for that long?"
Me looking up this video after two years of no working dome light

Yay I changed mine. It’s easy. I was only worried about breaking the plastic.
Great video. Here's a tip to make them last longer: wear some plastic gloves when touching light bulbs because the grease on your fingers could heat the bulb and cause it to burn out faster
Didn't know it was that easy
Thanks for watching! It's easy! Hope it worked for you!

Very helpful
Thank you very much. It was helpful for me. 🙏🙏🙏
Thanks, this video was very helpful.
+Natasha Collins You're welcome! Glad you liked it!
You made it look extremely ë easy, I'm having a VERY hard time doing what you did. That tab doesn't go as simple as yours did. Can it be a fuse
I didn't realize it was that easy

Fast forwarded vid. lol but seems very informative 👍👍
Does the bulb have a 'positive'/'negative' sides?
No, should fit either direction. The bulb doesn't "know" which side is positive or negative, it just needs a charge running through it (either direction) to light up.
Thank you! 😊
I need it this video right now, thanks for do it
Very welcome! And great channel icon! That's a good looking truck.

Very good video thank you
I think my dome light is not bright enough. Is it possible to replace with another bulb that is brighter.

My dome light flickers when driving and when I turn off the car it turns on randomly also.
What does this mean??🤨
Probably a wire shortage
it’s possessed
If its a led then the canbus system doesn't like it
Is this a Nissan Sunny FB13?
Thank you. You are awesome.
Thank you so much 💓
Thanks for the info
You are my hero

Thanks bro I did it

Hi Umer, I'm not sure I understand your question. What are you using a DC motor for?
how much was the bulb
can i kindly ask the size or the mm of the bulb? thank you
31mm
Can u use the same bulb for all cars
No, you need to find the bulb that your car needs -- look it up by make, model and year of your car. You can go to an auto repair place and ask for help, and they can find you the exact bulb you need. Shouldn't cost more than maybe $5.
Last summer there were mice in my suv and took out one light in the back and now the other light and the back back is out
looks like the exact light in my nissan altima
That's easy.. But what if I want to change the entire light and not just the bulb
Can i change it for LED ?
Yes, should work.
Wish me luck! 😊
Have ever tried LEDs?

what is kia picanto bulb?
All bulbs should tell you a number in small black writing, just remove the old one and you'll know
