*I like the old style Echo Dot because it's small also **Newest.Technology**, gives out decent sound and doesn't take up a lot of shelf space if you want to put it on beam in the workshop or shed.*
@@bencharlesrhys oh man, did some brief research. Seems out of league for a DIY IOT Rookie like myself. Not concerned about the hard ware side of it, but the programming side of it is scary.
My hands are paralysed and so it would be really beneficial to be able to not only switch my PC on with the switchbot, but to have a 2nd button in the application where I could do a long hold down of the Switchbot to shut down the PC when it has frozen. It would be good if I could ask Google to operate the Switchbot by voice. I don't have the switch bot hub. If I have 2 switches at each end of the house do I need to hubs to control them?
do i have to buy the additional item except the switchbot in order to use siri's shortcuts? can't i just only use the switchbot? i know it will not work with Alexa but is it the same with Siri?
Is it OK that my switchbot appears to push too far? I'm afraid it will damage my coffee machine because it travels past where the button would be. Is it smart enough to stop traveling? Or is it going to push the button too hard?
You don't need to buy the hub if your phone app is sufficient. You also won't be able to pair with Alexa or Google without the hub. If that's not important to you, then skip the hub.

I feel like saying the second bot was a bit redundant
Yes
Great review, thanks. Please let us know how you feel about it in 6 months.
SwitchBotBotBotBotBotBot 😅
Hey Alexa, turn on the switch bot bot
botbotbotbotbotbot ;)
I powered on my same coffee machine by connecting 2 wires to the power button. It’s controlled with a 5V relay on a Wemo D1 mini.
I would love to learn how to do this
@@micahgregus1659 get yourself a P421 optocoupler, DuPont cables and a Wemos D1 mini, flash with HAA and have fun learning.

do you need the hub in order to use siri shortcuts or google assistant?

There is a long press feature with these. I haven't messed with it but should do what you want.
@@JimFencl it seems you have to have 2 switches, one for the long press and one for the Short press. ua-cam.com/video/5EJMsyHVpic/v-deo.html
How do you know to set the machine off or on. I used a switchbot on my NAS and sometimes turn it on when i want it off.
You can tell this is an advert as nobody in their right mind would say SwitchBotBot
Interesting, but you lost me at "you need to have the hub". I almost need a server room for all the hubs I have already.
I agree. MQTT would be nice
should I buy the hub to connect it to google assistant or alexa ?
Does it work well with electric shutters?
Welcome Back Josh. Hope You enjoyed Your time off 🙂.
Informative Video.

I believe you need a hub for all smart assistant functionality
I just have the switch bot I can control it with the switch bot app but since I don't have the hub I can't control it using my alexa

Hi did you find out ? Thx
@@theattorney6072 I guess it's fine. So far, so good. No damage. I'll let you know if or when it breaks the button. Lol
Why do you need the hub if you just want to use Bluetooth on the phone app to activate it?

Nice video 👍☺️
If you were reviewing a product called "Smart Switch", would you really say "Smart Switch switch"?
That was such a peculiar choice.
OH PLEAAAASSSE STOP SAYING BOT BOT BOT BOT BOT BOT BOT BOT....
Repeating bot after switchbot 900 IQ
Everything I see you I think of Zach Morris. 😄
Where is MQTT support?
I wonder if they have a switch it for regular light switches..
You saying switchbot bot is so fummy 😂
And I just got the SwitchBot without a hub 😫 $30 to $70 now it’s not worth it
Switchbotbot
I did the switch and bought a switch bot bot
You can not use it for the most prominent type of switch in the world. Your everyday, common household light switch 5:51 . LOL.
Those are most common in America, I'm doubtful they're the most common in the rest of the world.
I've never seen one in real life
bot bot
Really annoying you kept saying ‘switch bot bot’
this seems to be an expensive and complicated way of turning things on and off ....cheap plug in timers do the same thing
Plug in timers won't work with this Breville espresso maker. Turning on power doesn't turn it on.
But but 😂

It's CHINESE product. Sorry, but I'll pass. Many of us are turning away from Chinese made devices nowadays and I'd rather stay away.
