Thanks for watching!
That's insane! Space Battleship Yamato 2199 was such a worthy reboot for fans of the original who haven't seen it. This is simply amazing.
Yamato 2199 (or Star Blazer 2199 if you watch the English dub) truly is an excellent series. I point to Yamato 2199 as the example to follow if one wants to do a remake of anything. Keep the spirit of the original intact, keep the general look, while improving based on time past and cultural change. Not change for change sake but educated change. What didn't work in the original? What was silly even then? Yamato 2199 fixed all that and more.
@@Ithekro Loved the original and Cap Harlock growing up, the later version is a worthy "re-make".
There also a sequel coming too.
@@Martini_Mcfly agreed. 2199 is really good!
Starts in about two weeks (July 19th), in theaters in Japan. Will watch as soon as possible.
This poor guy got denied being entered in the main room and contest because his model was too big at the Con. Why it's in the hallway and not anywhere else
It was so big, they stuck in a smaller place haha
That’s messed up.
Well... At least he got featured here. Which he well deserves. Just love the model.
Well, it appears to me that he is guaranteed to be viewed by everyone because everyone has to walk by his creation on their way to the main room.
The judges said next year they will make an exception for him so he can have it in the contest.
His ship was amazing, I stared at it a lot on that Saturday.
Warren was fun to watch at WonderFest. Unfortunately, his model was too long to qualify for as a contest entry, but Warren didn't really seem to care. Warren wrote a post about how incredible and impressive it was seeing others work, and then having those same people compliment him on his work. No doubt that the spirit of WonderFest definitely got a hold of Warren. It was a great weekend of mutual geek outs over each other's work.. Just a really great time with modelers having fun and hanging out with each other.
Got to meet Warren and see his Yamato. Absolutely loved it. And if you are not familiar with Space Battleship Yamato, I highly recommend it. Originally released in Japan in 1974, it has long been suspected to be one of the conceptual sources for George Lucas's Star Wars and the remake/reboot Yamato 2199 released in 2012 is a masterpiece.
The world is filled with so many talented people!
I've seen this guy so many times lol. Parked his ship right outside my hotel room at a Con once. Amazing work!
The OLD cartoon Star Blazers had this ship and was my absolute favorite cartoon ever.
English dubbed. Such a great show.
Yup, used to watch those in Canada along with the Force 5.
My favorite show growing up, what a sick build
He and my brother are working on a show right now yt on the channel Typhon production. Only the first episode is out right now
@@capylego interesting, looks cool, subbed
Albator: Le Corsaire de l'Espace.
The cosplay of Derek Wildstar of the STAR BLAZERS version was spot on as well!
I'm kinda disappointed that Norman didn't talk about the uniform. From what I've seen, most model presenters just show up in regular street clothes, usually geeky/nerdy t-shirts & jeans.
@@michaelminch5490 I don't believe he or the cameraman knew much about the show. Otherwise how could they resist the sweeping pan of the camera from the bow up to the bridge?
I remember meeting this guy a year ago at Anime Central 2023. I was so surprised and impressed with the model. I ran into him again at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign again and he brought the model there and my brother and I were surprised to see him attending the small anime convention they held over there this Spring. Obviously, I ran into him a 3rd time at this year's Anime Central and I took a picture with his SBY model while in a Kancolle Haruna cosplay. Great dude.
Space ship Yamato is hella underrated Anime. I usually don’t watch other genre then romance but Yamamoto kicked ass
Lol it's "Yamato", named and based on the Japanese flagship of WWII, not 'Yamamoto'. 👍
@@simplysteve68 confused names there xD
宇宙戦艦ヤマトは過小評価されてたんですか?アニメブームの火付け役だしインディペンデンスデイの戦闘シーンは完全に彗星帝国との戦いのオマージュだと思うんですが。
I would so love to have this anchored in my diorama station/colony that I built. I grew up with Battleship Yamato/Star Blazer and seeing this in an insane scale just blew my mind. Kudos to the creator and Tested for the well deserved feature.
Let’s go Warren! Amazing to see you recognized for all the work you’ve put into this. Let’s cruise soon!
As a young America kid during the late 70s/early 80s I used to watch a show called Star Blazers that I long later learned was based on this anime. I loved Star Blazers, and it was a cruicial part of my childhood along with other anime remake cartoons like Battle of the Planets and Robotech. Such great stuff! This model is amazingly cool, what a great job Warren did. Love his cosplay, too!
a fitting tribute to the the series and your own skills - superb work warren
Had the pleasure to meet Warren and the Space Battleship Yamato model at C2E2 earlier this year. Thank you Warren for bringing back such wonderful childhood memories of watching Star Blazers (as it was called)!!!
Wild! I remember in the late 70s seeing what I believe to be this show on TV. I thought it was so cool at the time. We didn't have much TV back then so I sort of forgot about it until now. This is neat!
Can’t thank you enough, Norm, for this whole series. I’m so amazed and inspired by these incredible models and their makers…hope you had as good a time being there as we did watching them!
"lifetime of making" might be a good name for the bundle, like you said, these failures are intrinsic to the process of making and we've all done them once or thrice
The intro song for the original series goes so hard, awesome to see someone bring love to one of the greats.
This is SO excellent for a V1.0 I so want to see what he comes up with for V2.0 and please... Design what you think would be a UPGRADE of the whole ship. Again, great job and keep going.
Somebody hire this guy, this is amazing what a great job !!!
Love the Ship, But I'm amazed he has a 91 Toyota Celica.
I had an '81 Celica and it was a great car. Loved that thing. The' 91 was awesome in its own right. If you took car of those things, 300K was very doable.
Wow! What a beautiful build. The animation show Star Blazer is a classic.
can you invite Warren to meet Adam (plus Adam-approved makers) for a model show and tell, and version 2 brainstorming session?
I expect this to bounce between "wow! I love how you solved this!" and "I know an easy fix for this...gimme-a-...",
and be worth all (y)our time
What a great time to be alive , 3D printing has opened up a world of modelling what ever your mind can conceive , unachievable just a decade ago . Provides a new definition to kitbashing , old model kits although still used today , is less important if you want to print the universal greebly . And we are only at the tip of the iceberg with progress being made it seems daily .
Warren has already won in my books the spaceship Yamato and a 91 Celica (one of those few cars i regret selling) - the fact its available online for a small cost to print that is super cool
That model is awesome!!!
I'm in awe! I've got a 1/500 scale Yamato and I thought it was large lol
That is the coolest thing I’ve seen n the internet today. Huge props for making that beautiful battleship. Hope we get the hanger bay and some Black Tigers in 2.0!
What an awesome build. Crazy to think to it was all done on one printer. Kudos to him for the long term vision and hard work
I spent 18 years, working as an MoD contractor and Battleship Grey, was not Grey at all, it was in fact a pale blue... but that's the British for you... We used so much of it, I remember several of the Engineers and even my late father, spraying their cars, bikes, bicycles using extra supplies 😉.. I even painted my room with it... We ordered it in huge drums for the larger spray shop and in standard rattle cans for smaller jobs... we also had special pens for touchup, when working on site, especially when in confined spaces on board submarines.
Excellent model by the way.
Wow, what a model! Spectacular work. It's simply gorgeous.
Self-taught 3D Modeling.....You are an amazing craftsman!!!
This is Amazing for real! The nostalgia that must be felt looking this ship over. Wish I could have seen it.
OMGOSH ! Such a beautiful ship ... Well Done ! Just lov Star Blazers Ship models ! Ty for sharing
I met this man and the ship at C2 E2 2024. The ship is even more impressive when you see it in front of you. He did a great job on building the ship.
I built a 1/32 Battlestar Galactica Colonial Viper from Alain Rivard, his quality is excellent! Glad Warren used Alain's model as a base.
This is very cool, I knew the ship the moment I saw the video thumbnail. I also grew up watching this cartoon.... A motorized version would be the cats nuts!
Cheers 🍻
Wow! Watched it everyday after school when I was a kid, when cable came to town!
Duderonomy!! I discovered Yamato as a wee kid in the early 80s before Star Trek and even Star Wars!
I'd love to have a model of this size, though god knows where I'd put it, lol!
Awesome work Warren!
What an amazing tribute to something he feels passion for. 10/10
Beautiful work of art!
Amazing model! I hope he takes the time to go back & sand, paint & weather it to make it even better and get rid of all the print lines and extra flash that is present in the print. :)
My FAV space battleship! ❤️
Space Battleship Yamato ❤
😂 My favorite cartoon as a kid! Too bad it was only on for one or two seasons in 79 & 80!
John Yamato continues to win
truly a John Yamato moment
I can't believe the john yamato is real
Stardusters unite
This is a John Yamato moment of all time
John Yamato strikes again
Dude has a 91 celica...I like him already. Same year as mine :)
The fit/finish and detail is...ok. But damn, the SCALE is amazing!!
2.0 I bet it waaaay better!
As an American, I had Star Blazers growing up. Training wheels for Space Battleship Yamato. I love it.
Loved this cartoon when I was a kid. And the Live action flick from 2010 was jaw droppingly beautiful....
Just an amazing model, I love the space cruiser Yamato series, they are just awesome
THATS MY BOY CHEEF! LESSGOOOO
WonderFest has been a golden goose for this channel, at least from the pov of stuff that has blown my mind.. I have loved every video to come out of it. Norm is killing it here.
AMAZING work!
Amazing... love the engine and the way it looks lit up.
It belongs in a museum! -Indy Jones
I grew up with similar experience of Robotech. Never seen Space Battleship Yamato, but I should check it out. Beautiful model ❤️
I'd call the Demerit Badge bundle just Bugs in the Works! Or The Demerit Badge Bundle of a Lifetime! 😂 I love that model and the cartoon it's from called, "Our StarBlazers"! My favorite show in 79!
amazing scales, and comments are very nice and forgiving but the unsanded, unfilled 3D printing layer lines are my pet peeve
looking forward to next version !
Matsumoto would be proud
Warren, that Yamato is beautiful. Should have at least got in top 5.
I love Space Battleship Yamato i cosplayed as Yuki Mori many times and this model is cool!
My husband loves the series too!
That's pretty cool, i watched the movies only some years ago, but i wish i knew of it when i was a kid.
It makes me think of the first Star Trek movie where i felt that the navy theme was more prevalent, and R-Type, one of my favorite game franchises.
Hope to see a giant Dobkeratops one day.
Either way, great model!
THATS MY FRIEND CheeF he is awesome
Nice guy and very tolerant of the many of us wanting pictures of his awesome project.
Its one of those things that even if you are not familiar with it, you have seen it or sort of know about it. It is an impressive model.
My first Anime ever. 1976 in Southern California, played by that nice guy who showed films and had a reel to reel on his show, Tom Hatten was his name, he would draw cartoons from kids who sent him "squiggles", and show them on his show. Anyway, back then it was called Space Cruiser Yamato. I loved it!
Great work on building the Yamato from Star Blazer's. It was my favorite cartoon when I was growing up and to this day it's still my favorite. Super.
Thanks f for showing us that! I was a fan of the show. I raced home every day to watch & do homework!
The talent to make something like this.
I’ve seen him and this at conventions on the east coast and Anime Central! 😊
Loved Star Blazers when I was a kid!
7 MONTHS??!
THAT IS HUUUUUUUUUGE
& that you were able to find REALLY STRONG MAGNETS TO HOLD IT TOGETHER?!!! THE COSMOS AWAITS YOUR NEXT VISION-SFX MOVIE PEOPLE !! HERES A MODEL MOVIE MAN RIGHT HERE‼️‼️👍👍
Whooooaahhhhh! I have got to download these files and do this build. This is an awesome build Warren! Great job!
Awesome just doesn’t describe this. Amazing.
Incredible build! Never got around to watching the series. Gonna have to change that now, just for context. Seems fair. Nicely done, thanks for sharing.👍🏻
I grew up watching this series now I've seen the entire multi series in original Japanese, your model is impressive and beautiful sorry you were done dirty not being able to enter this amazing ship of our dreams in their little con
It was a pleasure seeing it there!
I'm not familiar with the anime, but I can certainly appreciate the creativity and dedication to create something like this. You can tell there is a lot of potential here!
JOHN YAMATO HIMSELF!
I watched it as a kid. Loved what we humorously called the shave lotion gun.
I met this dude back in February!
Simply wonderful piece of work!!! Such a talented young man!
JOHN YAMATO KEEPS WINNING 💪💪💪
Great Stuff, Warren!
We love John Yamato.
1/44 scale 😮 amazing
Damn I thought my 1:200 Yamato was big lol
Amazing talent! 1/144 scale is pretty useful to compare with 1/144 scale Aircraft so we can get an impression of how massive the ship really is.
Absolutely amazing!!!! lol I was wondering if Norm was gonna do this. He lost his nerd card the day he didn't know about the Yamato. The Yamato and Enterprise re-fit are the two greatest starships ever.
No love for the Liberator from Blakes 7?
That one is big!
Did the 3D-printer ever fail during the print?
Too bad about all the print lines, but that thing is seriously impressive.
Yeah. The thing is impressive but could use a lot of fit and finish. That was why he was able to bang it out in seven months.
The world’s largest artificial coral reef is also based on the Yamato!
I thought that was the Oriskany?
@@Based_Lord_Humongous the Yamato was the largest WW2 battleship in the Japanese side. It didn’t do so well and now is a 900 foot long coral reef.
The ship looks fantastic.
My friend, Deric Wakefield, would have given his full support for this project. Well done.
I was more impressed with his outfit than the actual model.
Oh damn, it's Cheef! I can't wait to tell my buddy Cheef about this 😊
Beautiful job ❤
*ahem* I am contractually obligated as a SBY fan to do this.
