You mean his insecurity and conceit don't you? No disrespect to his early contribution to music but he thought he was at the podium to present himself and he totally disrespected The Supremes (and many in the audience).
Yes, he came up during the rock n roll era of the 1950s. Later in life though, Little Richard.calmed down his drama for recognition. He became subtle. Finally. He always thought, that he was the King Of Rock n Roll. He was, indeed one of the founders. For certain.
Lil Richard was just himself. But I do think this video was an overkill because he was there to honor the Supremes. Not himself. He shouldn't talk more about himself since he was there to present the honoree of the Supremes.
The Harlem Blues & Jazz Band (with Eddie Durham) performs at The Waldorf Astoria for The very first Rock ’n Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony inducting “Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, Little Richard, Fats Domino, Buddy Holly, the Everly Brothers, Ray Charles, James Brown, Sam Cooke and Jerry Lee Lewis; Non-Performer category were Sun Records founder Sam Phillips and seminal DJ Alan Freed; Early Influence category were blues icon Robert Johnson, country's Jimmie Rogers, and boogie-woogie pianist Jimmy Yancey. Columbia Records' legendary A&R man John Hammond. Eddie Durham recalled: “I played nine years [with Wynonie and Larry Darnell]. I booked us in Richmond, Norfolk, Newport, Georgia with three bands traveling. Little Richard’s five-piece band; my six-piece girl band, a shake-dancer named Sonya Millburn from Canada, Elaine who had the hit record, C.C. Williams and cuban Freddie Benito. Little Richard was just recording then and he got hit right after that tour. But I had Little Richard’s band on one side, my band on another side and the girls in the middle, maybe 17 or 18 pieces altogether. We played the opening together. Little Richard would do the blues and we’d open up altogether with it…feature some guys in my band and some girls on the saxes and then onto somebody else and in the end, Little Richard would come out and sing and we’d close the curtain, then open it back up with the girls band, and they’d do a specialty." Both Diana and Mary have stated what an influence he was on them as a group. While many may not connected them musically, there was certain element of showmanship and style that can easily be drawn between the two. He started the flamboyant, extravagant, fashionable side of rock and the Supremes, of course, are known for their sequin and beaded gowns, the makeup, and big wigs. Im sorry, but I gotta call it like I see it. I work around a LOT of patients with bipolar disorder and other mental issues, not as severe. But everytime I see footage of Little Richard, later in his life and not when he was all "wigs and makeup and ability", I hear mania...like an UNHEALTHY mania...uncontrollable laughter and incredibly distracted and narcissistic. I love the guy..dont get me wrong. But with everything he went thru in life, from the severe abuse of a crazy Dad to all the homophobia he had to endure and navigate, I just believe he was bipolar. And Lord knows, he didnt ask for it..
@@KBB4eva uh, Little Richard was gay. I don't need you to believe my opinion...thats what Little Richard said in a number of interviews...where he's spoken about being called a sissy. And he liked saying "don't call me no sissy!...call me a rich sissy!". So, again...dont believe me, BELIEVE HIM...he admitted that he was gay in his own book. And then he backpedaled on the subject, because THATS what sexually conflicted people so, sometimes. Saying you're NOT gay, after you admit that you are, DOES NOT MAKE YOU STRAIGHT. And marrying a woman, does not make you straight, either. I realize there are many black men out here in the World, who are clutching their pearls and getting their bra straps all twisted, when someone like Richard is called gay...but that's more about THEIR OWN STRUGGLE WITH BEING GAY AND BLACK. So, in my opinion...he's was gay. You can like it or not like it. Yo are right about one thing, tho. He was a man who had a relationship with a higher power. And hopefully the Creator didnt mind Richard wearing lipstick, high heels and false eyelashes.

And she said on national TV. to Mary w Wilson , you've been messing with my mother for before I was born said Rhonda ,so Rhonda said the next time you speak about my mother in a nagtive way Mary Wilson had better be able to prove it in court because Rhonda said Rhonda was gonna best her ass (Mary Wilson ) then haul Mary Wilson's ass in court and sue her ass off for defamation of character my mother won't but I will as head of my mother's company s . So I'll ask you why Haven you heard those same vicious lies , I'll tell you it's because that's exactly what they were lies because Rhonda served notice already be able to back your sh*t up or prepare to pay for defamation.that's why! I'm just sayin!!!
That was never true that was a rumor that got pegged unfairly to Diana Ross most probably started by Mary Wilson , being who she was because Berry Gordy wanted Diana to lead because each of them had a chance to lead " they each lead & got nowhere until it was diana's turn to lead again & they where given the song "Where did Our Love Go " first given to the other stars who turned it down because they didn't like the song ,so it was given to the Supremes with Diana turn at lead they too didn't like the song . Berry said to them you'll can't turn down anything because you'll are at the bottom of the roster you have no one to pass it to which made Diana angry and she cried because they couldn't turn it down & Berry told them to get in there and record . And it is said that Diana tried to mess the song up trying to sing it nasally and high pitch. It is said Berry the
Good golly Ms.Molly, this is long Brain woods
Are right, he always does, and why everybody is saying R.I.P.Richard, I get all of that, but this was about The Supremes, and no one else, and when he got inducted, he would have had a fit, had other people see if they're talking about themselves, instead of him the whole time. I WILL ALSO LIKE TO TAKE THE TIME TO JUST SAY R.I.P. To both, Miss Florence Ballard, & Miss Mary Wilson, may you both rest inpeace, and your body of work, and legacy will never ever be forgotten, and show live on forever, and ever.
He's having a psychotic episode.
He’s flamboyant and a Genius . He is HIM UNAPOLOGETICALLY. A Man of God
He want gay. He was flamboyant and married a woma and had a son
@@SDSFG45 I knew Richard . He came back to God . Got married and had a son. Amd denounced homosexuality. He experimented like
Many rock stars did who also had many women amd wives . I could name
Names but it’s a private thing. . Richard was God fearing man. Period
@@KBB4eva you "knowing Richard", doesn't make him straight. So, when Richard admitted that he was gay, in his own book?...I believed him. You're trying too hard to defend him. And at the end of the day, nobody cares that he was gay....you need to focus on this man's musical legacy..not his sexual legacy.
Somebody pull him off that stage
He is so high....hahahahaha....shut up !!!
And Diana Ross???
The Jedi.
Job, Ezekiel, Daniel, and Isaiah.
The big four.
And Little Richard!
ARITANA DE OXÓSSI 💚💞🧚♀️🧚♂️
Was he on something lol
He was addicted to cocaine.
He went on way too long about himself, it was not appropriate for this event. And he must have been high as a kite.
Whatever drugs this guy was on 😅🤣
Richard and his recycled tired lines drones on and on yawn.
What a shameful display. That was just awful.
Obnoxious with a capital O!
Just like with the Otis Redding induction, he makes it all about himself. He turns himself into a silly little clown and tries to steal the spotlight. Almost everything he said was about himself, not The Supremes. Like Otis Redding, The Supremes deserved much better.
You're mad sensitive for no reason 💀💀💀
@MePernell I take it that you're not a fan of the great Little Richard..Shut Up !!!!!!
@Mrfixit Shut Up !!!!!
That's little Richard and he was entertaining and wonderful. Love you Richard! Rip.
the King can't do whatever the fuck he wants
