I always forget about this song, and then I’ll randomly hear it again and be blown away every time, especially with a performance as great as this one. From one horn and trumpet player to another, a stunning performance, and thank you!
One of my favorite cues. Harry Gregson-Williams did so well with this entire film. Marc, this must have been fun to play. Williams brings so much emotion to the scene. The choir, the drums, and the synths play a great role in bringing a driving pulse full of the moments to pull the film and the characters forward. 4:38 is a great example of this. This scene had to be written carefully, as there is a lot of build up before the fighting actually occurs. Since you opened this box, I hope to see the opening credits for Prince Caspian. That had quite the furioso build up. Great job as always, Marc!
Excellent, my hair stood on end when I heard such a beautiful arrangement, many memories come to mind from when I was a child and enjoyed this movie. excellent thanks for the video 👏👏👏
0:56 interesting choice! The editors accelerated the album soundtrack when they matched it to the movie, so instead you've slowed down the movie to keep sync with the soundtrack! When I worked on this scene, I sped up the score to keep pace with the movie. For narnia they pitch-corrected so it doesn't make a difference, but in many movies (especially pirates), that acceleration makes the movie score a different key also! A very interesting creative solution to a major de-sync issue. Would love to discuss this more.
Hey Jesse, the thing is I actually had to re-edit pretty much the whole scene just so that UA-cam wouldn't block the video ^^ If you compare it with the original scene you'll see plenty of differences ! And I indeed had to slow down certain parts to match the score, I must say it's quite a fun thing to do 😀
When I was a kid, the Narnia series were my favorite books. I`d love to feel that story in music very much now. Thanks for your musical sharing, Marc. Love your playing.
Marc, that was a glorious performance man. You nailed it! Absolutely loved every minute.. those high notes were amazing. At 1:38 I thought, "Aw man, I wish he had played the walk-down notes on French horn and walk up part on trumpet, but it still sounds good." Then after that you did play it that way, having saved it for the next phrase which was fantastic. Astounding job!
I remember going to the movie theater and watching this with my dad as a kid. I remember being so enthralled by this amazing movie and absolutely loving all the animals and creatures, especially Aslan lol. It wasn't until I got into high school that I really began to appreciate the sheer epicness of the music, especially after having learned to play this song from front to back on the piano for my exgirlfriend in my senior year and playing it for her on her birthday. This song makes me extremely emotional, not only because I know how hard it is to play, but also because it is so beautiful and ahead of its time. Thank you so mich for posting this video ❤
I felt it. I felt the magic. I felt the excitment, just like when I first watched this film, and heard this incredible soundtrack. Well done, as always. And now, we can all dream that one day, this franchise will be rebooted into high-budget TV show, just like GOT and just like LOTR will get. And yet- the first film on Narnia is so nostalgic for me, and the world needs to know the brilliance of C.S. Lewis, ASAP.
Yes indeed. Narnia is an incredible world. C.S. Lewis is so talented I hope he gets a show for his series in the future as well. The First movie also holds a special place in my heart.❤
This is one of my all time favorite movies and it was the first movie that I recognized the horn in the soundtrack. Thank you so much for doing this piece!
Wow so amazing to hear this on other instruments! I’ve been trying to learn it on piano. Love the way this is edited. Thank you for sharing your talent on this epic song, so well done.
First of all, you always pick the best movies, Harry Gregson-Williams really left it all on the paper and I adore these movies and book and the music itself tells the story. Second, you really played a D# AND MADE IT LOOK EASY WHAT?!?! that's insane, you're amazing also the fact that you gave us the sheet music? God level. thank you kind sir, I hope you could also play some Prince Caspian in the future, the opening credits are amazing as well as 'Kings and Queens of Narnia' for horn
OMG I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!! I did a whole strings arrangement for Narnia a few years ago n wanted to do something for band too bc I was a french horn player for years. Good job bro!
Incredible. Can you please do more Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe? I would love to see you play "The Wardrobe" (the part where Lucy first finds the wardrobe and enters Narnia)
Thank you so much for this cover, it is so good and brought me back to Days of Old. For the majority of chart It was more feeling 2/2 than 4/4 Which really worked, Which might just be my distance from playing the sax. This song made me want to go by the whole book series again and try to refind and read it all. So thank you
You just put the biggest smile on my face. Thank you for replying and doing this per my request!!!! SO AWESOME and so beautifully done!!! On a scale from 1-10, how was the its difficulty with 10 being most difficult?
Glad you liked it !! Thank you 🙂 About the difficulty I'd say it's like...5/10 ? Nothing especially hard to play, at least technically ! This piece is more about the noble and majestic sound of the brass section 😀 Wonderfully written and a joy to perform !
thank you very much for this interpretation, the music of narnia rocked my anfance cradled my childhood, I listen to them very often and the part of the battle is my favorite part I would have liked the section well liked the section "M48 Battlefield" is my favorite, but your performance is amazing **O** the brass instruments are my favorite category of instrument, and the French Horn is my favorite , a lot of friends find it strange but there are ones that grab me right away, I can't even explain precisely what I'm resanting, it's out of time , thank you again for this wonderful video **O** PS : sorry for my bad english i am french, i did my best =)
Du coup tu aurais pu faire ton commentaire en français 😁 Mais ça va tu gères en anglais j'ai tout compris 😉 Et oui le cor, sacré instrument !! Ce n'est pas moi qui dirais le contraire ❤️
Watching you every day gives me a feeling that no word can describe. You've inspired mo to start playing horn and I just got one yesteray. Hope to reach your level one day. If I may ask, how many years have you been playing to reach this level of playing?
I started playing at 8 and I'm now 36 ! And it is just awesome that my videos inspired you to pick up the horn 🙂 It is not the easiest instrument to learn, it takes dedication and a lot of practice to master it but it is definitely worth it !
Awesome, as always. Maybe not th emost technically difficult piece--but man, what a majestic horn sound! I often plug this into the large speakers and play along with my Holton. Thanks making the score available.
Awesome !! That is one of the main reasons why I do these videos, so that horn players can have fun playing along with them 🙂 And blasted on large speakers plus played on a Holton ? Even better 😎
Se você soubesse o quanto eu sonhei para ver um vídeo como o seu com o música "The Battle". Se eu pudesse, daria um milhão de likes! Incrível!!!! Eu amo trompete e trompa. Sou extremamente apaixonada! Seu trabalho ficou impecável! Lindo! Parabéns. Fiquei muito emocionada!! ❤️
Marc, have you considered covering Code Geass? The arrangement there uses the whole orchestra, but the brass shines. "Madder sky" is one of the memorable osts of the series.
I play French horn and while it sounds beautiful, it is extremely hard to pull off Edit: forgot to mention that yall are extremely great at playing the French Horn
Do you have the instrumental audio that you used in the video ? I mean, if I want to do like you but without already the sound of the horn and the trumpet ? :)
En fait, pile au moment où tu as écrit ce commentaire j'étais en train de bosser sur cette vidéo que je viens de sortir ^^ => ua-cam.com/video/B3bXqxhdi68/v-deo.html
What people here (hello !) maybe don't know is that Marc is related to one of the soundtrack of one of the narnia movie (the 3rd one). nice new haircut by the way ! you're loosing already your hairs ? you' getting old !! lol :D ahahha !! ;)
The effects hold up pretty well for a 17-year-old movie, gotta say. (Also how the hell is the Narnia movie 17 years old) Like compare Aslan to the Disney "live-action" Lion King remake...doesn't look too much worse, does he?
I always forget about this song, and then I’ll randomly hear it again and be blown away every time, especially with a performance as great as this one. From one horn and trumpet player to another, a stunning performance, and thank you!

Damn that french horn pushes this theme to another level
Yes
One of the most underrated scores of all time
This narnia music hits the spot for this scene its a mixture between evil and magic its such a wonderful peice
It’s so beautiful
It’s been 17 years, since I watched narnia as a kid and I loved it.

A lot of fun to play indeed ! Such a wonderfully scored scene 😀
It was amazing it still is
Fantastic! I'd love to hear "To Aslan's Camp" and "Knighting Peter" if you ever decide to do more from Narnia.
Beautiful piece. I’ve played this in orchestra as principal trumpet this summer
Excellent, my hair stood on end when I heard such a beautiful arrangement, many memories come to mind from when I was a child and enjoyed this movie. excellent thanks for the video 👏👏👏

I forgot how much french horn and trumpet is in this song but I'm glad I got to hear it again especially with how good you made it sound
This is absolutely one of the best themes ever written

Oh my GOSH. Beautifully played. One of the more moving scores, I can feel it in my heart

As a low brass player, I would like to nominate French Horn to become a part of the low brass family.
Thanks a lot !!
Another piece of art! Also thank you so much for the frequent uploads recently, always a joyfull sight!
My absolute favorite song from this soundtrack. I played the french horn growing up, and you cover so many songs I grew up listening to. Love it!
I love Nania! I would like to hear more of these songs with French horn!
God bless you
I love it! The nostalgic feels so majestic, it's so beautiful. Please do more of The Chronicle of Narnia :')
Finally I found what I'm looking for...thank you so much

Wow I didn't know the French horn had such a low register! Beautiful instrument..makes me want to learn that, too. Fantastic job!
one of the best soundtracks of all time imop
OMG I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!! I did a whole strings arrangement for Narnia a few years ago n wanted to do something for band too bc I was a french horn player for years. Good job bro!

I'm so sad we haven't gotten more Narnia films :( the music is so good.
This is just too good 😋
Marc, have you considered covering Code Geass?
The arrangement there uses the whole orchestra, but the brass shines.
"Madder sky" is one of the memorable osts of the series.
Nice 👍
I love
Perfekt👍
How can the bass drum at 2:32 be so terrifying to hear? Its such a sound of dread and doom
You should do " A building panic " from Titanic. It would sound amazing on the French horn!
i have to say, props to harry gregsom-williams for keeping so much tension and building so much emotion while nothing happens for 90% of the scene
🔥👍🏻🔥👍🏻🔥👍🏻🔥
FOR NARNIA AND FOR ASLAND!!!!!
Music 😌😌😌😌
I play French horn and while it sounds beautiful, it is extremely hard to pull off
Edit: forgot to mention that yall are extremely great at playing the French Horn

Can you please make one for flutes because I love this score and it's so hard to find Harrys music.
This is really good, have you ever considered doing any of the Merlin music from the BBC series?
Fr that shows music is so good
