When a man has the opening guitar riff from Shameful by Atreyu as his intro music for youtube, you know it's gonna be good.

    Wow Scott!
Thanks for explaining in detail how to get started on the F.A.S.T. drill.
Being just a "noob" it's intimidating to think about getting the drill done
sub 5 seconds. You give a great breakdown of how to get it done......
.....now I need to practice. ;~)
Looking forward to your October class!
    Be safe!

Great stuff. I'm tracking with fighting explanation. Most gun guys I've met don't have a fighting back ground...so I could see why they challenge you in the stance and set up department.

Though I have been in this field for last 35 years, but still I would love to learn more everyday. I learned a lot new stuff from your videos and I considered you as my "Virtual Instructor". I wish I could have an opportunity to attend your hands-on classes, but I am not able, due to some immigration obstacles. Therefore; I request you to please keep uploading your complete classes for students like me, who really wants to learn but unable to attend hands-on classes. Hope you will consider my request.
    Regards

My question is about draw; you use appendix carry holsters, what about us guys that have the physique that requires the use of 3 o'clock to 4 o'clock IWB carry position? Could you show a good ready, draw, aim from that position?
    Thank you in advance.

    • @ModernSamuraiProject
      @ModernSamuraiProject  4 роки тому +2

kevin moses The answer is to get a better holster and start carrying appendix. 3 and 4 o’clock are ergonomically weaker positions so I don’t focus on them. That said check out guys like Chris Woomer of Veil Solutions for a fast 3 iwb draw.

@Modern Samurai Project thank you so much. I suffer from the dreaded dickeedoo syndrome. Lmao. That's the reason for the 3 o'clock carry. I'll check out those guys and see what I can learn

You should consider losing weight. Mobility and being a smaller target equals survivability.

I just took Scott's 2-day RDS course this past weekend, which was excellent. During the course he kept referencing the "80/20," "90/10," and "95/5" concept, but it was a little confusing to grasp fully what he was talking about. This video really clarifies things.
If you take the entirety of movement, from drawing the gun from the holster to the point where the shot breaks, that would be "100." So a "90/10" refers to the first 90% of the entirety of movement and the last 10%, the idea being that you cover the first 90% quickly, and apply the brake to the last 10% of the movement to refine the sight picture. When the target is farther away (e.g., 25 yds or more), you can go 80/10. You cover the first 80% quickly, but because the target is farther away, and you need more info to get an accurate shot, you cover the last 20% more carefully. Conversely, if the target is very close (e.g., 3 yds), 1) you don't have the luxury of time, and 2) you need less info to get an accurate shot. So your movement will 95/5, etc.
If you haven't taken one of Scott's courses, DO IT!

Way over my head! I just want to get past shot anticipation and quit shooting low right at 7yrds. 10 yrds is laughable!

I’ve been in a lot of street fights. Not trained and not contesting those who are. All I can say is in real life you won’t know it’s coming unless the other guy is a douche bag.
