Lewis, I have the same model snowblower. Is there an adjustment on the carb as mine, when I move the choke/run handle to Run, the engine surges. If I slowly move it back towards the choke position, it smooths out. Any advise? sounds like it's running lean. Thanks, Bob
I have the same one as well. If it's surging there is a little black screw on top of the carb and if you turn it a quarter turn at a time to the right you can get it to smooth right out. If the engine runs too fast then turn it back to the left a little bit.
@Da Brown Guy, thanks for the comment, The ultrasonic method is really the best method to clean these carbs because the ultrasonic waves go thru the carb and agitate the parts of the carb we cannot really access. I would call a power sports place and see if you can just drop off your carb to be cleaned. I am sorry I do not have an easier method, but when I would clean carbs without an ultrasonic cleaner in the past It usally always would not run correctly.
Why does mine not push well. Like the front end literally will not slide unless there is the right amount of snow and the right conditions with the right sidewalk. Otherwise it with grab and tip forward as I try to push. Any advice for what to do to modify it so it slides nice regardless of ground conditions.
I am aware that this is an old thread. Not that familiar with these smaller machines but if it is grabbing it seems that the slides are set too high. Try adjusting the slides/ shoes to raise the scraper assembly.
I know this is very late but I have the same blower and I found my muffler on EBay. Plus I also got new paddles there too. If you still have the machine and not got the parts I will screenshot where I got mine from.
Bought a Toro power clear same size to do the job no time to repair the Poulan since 13" of snow hit Chicago right now, so we'll run out the fuel at the end of season and see if it works every single year
Great question! I always usually just follow what the manual recommends, most small engine equipment just take standard 30w. You can buy it anywhere. Have a great day!

Mike thanks for your un-needed comment. MAYBE you should not tell people what to do with their tools, MAYBE not everyone that watches the videos has a full mechanics tool set. MAYBE if you don't like it keep scrolling, no one asked for your input on how I use tools. Thanks and have a good day.
Great video buddy, you saved me from buying a new snowblower. 👍
Love the music

Hi Lew, I have a similar issue with my popular p521. I don’t have an ultrasonic cleaner. What else can I use?

Had it 9 years skips working every other year. serviced 2 yrs ago used only twice & needs repair again? There's gotta be a more reliable sno blower
Ron, are you running it out fuel after the last time of the year? Or using a fuel additive?

@@LEWCANFIXIT we’re can I get that gasket
That’s a shame you had to use vice grips to tighten up that bolt nut and you can use a 10 mm wrench
Is there a filter on this ?
no, you they do not put air filters on snow blowers because there is no grass and dirt in the air like summer time with a lawn mower.
Just remember how you took it off put it back on the same way
Tires are pretty small those blowers
Lol the snow in the face fail!!!
lol... see, you can see my fails too!
maybe should buy some proper tools instead of teaching people to use visegrips on every thing and possibly destroying all bolt heads
