Best bjj channel on yt!
I love how Bernardo just sits in awe of John soaking up every word. 5/6 times world champion and yet still so humble and eager to listen and learn 👌🏽
That is why he is a champion - he is smart and always eager to learn

Ok I'll say it: John needs to talk louder or you need to turn his mic up.
I complain about this every video lol
The guy said he had a bad cold.
I'll turn it up to the fing max for the man
He is soft spoken. He uses his professor voice. Soak it in most knowledgeable teacher we have today!!
Every bloody video. He's a great teacher but it feels like he puts on this voice as part of his wank factor.
Give this camera man a fix of what ever he needs
Guys I love you and thank you SO much for this FREE golden stuff.
Danaher for President 2020
care verga
Couldnt agree more. Fundamental is not a phase its in fact the most important part of the game. It is the foundation and top of it you build the rest of your game. I see too much focus on fancy moves and people lacking fundamentals. We have a fundamental class in our academy twice a week I go to them both more often. Most people in our academy think its a white belt class. Its stupid mentality. In fact some people think its embarrassing to go to these classes.
I'd say it's their loss.
Can you please make a video with John Danaher about shrimp and bridge? I think lots of subscribers would really enjoy it.
Check out the escape side control video for shrimping and hip movement. Not sure I can suggest anything for the latter. Good luck escaping side control and mount!
3 years into bjj and one has ever explained it the way he does... this should be standard curriculum in all bjj academies...
Bjj fanatics need to work on some lapel game... MIC on the lapel
They’re clutching and grabbing at the lapels constantly. Plus, they’re chest to chest a lot. It probably wouldn’t work.
This is Gold. Blue belt here and had no clue some of these moves existed.
Confident you’ll go very far with that attitude and mindset!
This man is very wise, but speaks, very softly, I keep trying to adjust the volume.
Still amazed John Danaher doesn’t have a Wikipedia page. Granted he doesn’t compete himself, but this man is a legend. Thank you for another great BJJ vid.
I made one, but it's been in review for about 2 months :(
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:John_Danaher_(martial_artist)
@@BerniesBootlegs1 dude great job, why the hell is it taking so much to be reviewed wtff
He’s probably not in favor of having one. He doesn’t own a computer.
He would rather spend his money on rashguards.
@@BerniesBootlegs1 bro i just read it. That is awesome man. Great job. ✊
He's 53? Wow. I would have said he was in his 30's.
I am just starting BJJ for a few months now and luckily found your channel. These videos with John Danaher is so clear that I am becoming less frustrated on learning BJJ. Thank you so much!
You must be a pro by now
I totally get that now....built on body movements, not technique....it is changing my jiu jitsu world. I had not heard it articulated until this video but what made me realize this concept was the Ryron Gracie vs. Andre Galvao fight. It has brought a sense of calm to my jiu jitsu in that now I know I don't need a technique....I need to develop my sense of feel and body pressure, then make an often small movement to take advantage of what I sense. Bravo! Thank you for the clarity.
This is ridiculous… how is this content free
A year later, I hope you guys can invest in a SteadyCam
You put all of your opponent's weight into one limb before taking it away like you put all of the dirt in one place before sweeping it away.
Very cool analogy. Love it!
360p gang
Also PLEEEAAAASSSSSEEEEE put a lav mic on John so we can hear him. Or run audio through a compressor to bring him up a little and Bernardo down just a bit.
I believe he says he has a cold 🤧
BERNARDO - You gotta get John up to Boston to film every weekend to finish the Fundamentals series! You're leaving money on the table, the sooner you produce, the sooner we buy buy buy
What exactly are Johns 4 mount subs? I’m guessing arm-tri, armbar, keylock and top-tri???
Other people talk louder and with more passion but I can’t hear John speak without falling more in love with BJJ. That’s a true teacher.
Settle down cowboy ;-)
i cant hear him speak
Thank you Bernardo, and thank you John for taking the time to explain. I too want to be competent at BJJ
At about 13:39 that part where you use the mat squares to clarify a move? Straight up genius.
I thought exactly the same thing. Simply genius.
Please turn the Yoda of Jiu Jitsus mic up. Please.. The way he explains thing is unreal. So much knowledge. Easily understood..
I just love this stuff. Share your knowledge with us John 👏👏👏😀
Can you imagine this guy trying to be romantic with his wife.
no
@@drum877 LMFAO!
Lie down Linda Danaher, head facing that way, I'm about to enter, entering Linda Danaher, relax your hips, proceed to mount when you are ready
Tremendous pressure, indeed
Mr. Danaher: Understand this darling - if you resist, I will persist. Now, you decide.
Volume is sooo lowww
Thats just Danaher
Marcos barbosa has the right idea and clips a mic to his gi when doing vids
I bet Danaher is saying some good stuff, but unfortunately he chose to whisper the whole time so I have no idea what’s going on
If you think the volume of John Danaher's voice is too low in this video try wearing headphones. And then after you put your headphones in and you’re just chilling out sipping some tea listening to BJJ Yoda... ***DON'T FORGET TO TURN DOWN THE VOLUME WHEN THAT GOD FORSAKEN GORDON RYAN COMMERICAL COMES ON***. Or kiss your ears goodbye! 😅👂🏼
I'm gonna have the best escapes in BJJ. I just never come to train. Never getting tapped and escape all the things.😅
Amazing, but i can't hear a thing...........
Me too. That's also why turn on the close caption.
Love the video. However, advise your cameraman to never drive a dynamite truck.
Such a good video. So poorly filmed and produced...
Audio quality not good guys
Nice Vid, but cant hear John voice...
Once I finally realised to relax because I think of my principles. Is to know your fingers to your elbows are and my knees to my waste are and where your opponents are. Then to use push and pull similitaniosly to off balance and submissions. Two arms are stronger then one and legs are stronger then arms. Submitions are just bending body parts the opposite way and necks are weak. After I realised these four things, I'm more relaxed.
I'm not sure I understood the first part you said about "to know your fingers to your elbows are and my knees to my waste are and where your opponents are". But still, I get your point about everything else you said and I'm glad you phrased it that way. It makes me see it in a less complicated way and that should put me feeling at ease. Thank you for that.
@@Michael-cq7lq basically I meant like grips and framing. That's what I meant with my elbows too fingers. Knees for framing or Sheilds and of course hips for everything else.
u cant even speak properly stupid
@@resiliated9326 English may not be his first language you douche nozzle
When he says flying armbar does he say the girls love it?😂
it looks like michael j fox took over from darth vader as camera operator.
I'm sitting here with a cone up to my ear speed tapping the volume up button screaming, "GOD DAMN IT JOHN SPEAK UP SO I CAN GIT SMARTUR!!!"
Then the Gordon Ryan commercial cones on and deafens you.
Does John have a list of fundementals some where? Bridging, kipping, shrimping? Any others? Gripping perhaps, base?
Highest resolution I am getting is 360. Might want to re-upload? Thanks as usual for all these white belt tips :D
Just earlier today I was trying to decide which of John's or videos I should use to supplement my personal development, & focus on really understanding the fundamentals away from the academy as I restart my BJJ journey, or if I should bet Bernardo's foundation series. Well BJJ Fanatics made that easy by giving away John's Self Mastery: Solo Drills, and watching this sealed the deal as he clearly points out it is the movements, and ideas that are the cornerstone of our BJJ foundations, as everything rests, & is built upon them. I still need to get my hands on Bernardo's foundation series, but the solo drills should keep me busy for a bit. OSSS!
Sincere and utmost humble appreciations for taking the time to share this with all of us.
The amount of pristine knowledge given, transcends styles and relates to all martial arts:
“ Many rivers from the same source flow” , as these factors mentioned here are key points in regards to all practical martial arts training, or any skill aspirations for that matter.
True wisdom is correct knowledge appropriately applied, these beautiful units that complete the whole, and the similarities of advanced are basics done correct should truly emanate throughout every serious practitioner that aspire to mastery within their desired art.
“ The highest mountain can never disregard its base” ie foundation/ fundamentals.
An honor and joy to be able to listen, observe and learn from such peers as yourselves.
Sincere regards.
Fellow martial artist.

Norway.
Much respect to you for expressing yourself better than I.
Applying this to life now.
"One move can teach you many moves, and that's what makes it fundemental."
...and that those same fundamental moves are utilized throughout the entire career of the mindful practitioner at ANY stage shows just how vital they are to learn.
John, reminds of the 70s movie "walking tall". The motto was speak softly and carry a large stick. In his case, his technique is his large stick. Love these videos.
You both are great teachets because everything good happens from derails
My Gracie Barra is open in 2 weeks, I'm all signed up itching to go and I feel like by watching this I've got a head start over the other new starters on day 1 already!
Good luck to you! Keep learning from the pros like you've been doing and you'll be able to make rapid progress and eventually teach it in a similar fashion.
I love & appreciate the free content, but I have my TV at 100 % volume & can barely hear danaher In any of these instructionals...its such a shame. Healthy constructive criticism please get turn up Johns mic In the future 🙏
All ways go back to basics. How did Royce gracie win ufc? With white belt techniques
True - at that time, against opponents who had likely not seen these subs and did not know counters
I would love to watch this but can't hear anything.
I scissor sweep everyone, and always have. The trick is not pulling people over you, yes that's nice if you can get it, but anyone good can drop their weight back as shown in the video. The trick is shifting under the person. Mechanically it solves the same center of gravity issue, but is much easier. typically I break people down hard for the sweep as if I am going to load them up to do the normal scissor sweep (obviously if they give it to me great), but as they sit back and down I swing my body in and under them to the side I am sweeping changing the angle and coming under, and bam. In fact, most of the time I actually extend their arm and swing to the opposite side going for an armbar, and when they shift their weight back away from the armbar I swing 180 degrees under them and they are actually coming back over me.
I always use a volume booster app ;)
Love listening to this guy - Great insights. 🤙
God damn this motivated me
This was so good I haven’t started classes yet but I will be soon I spent most of this video rewinding and learning on my own great stuff guys thank you very much.
Damn that sound :((((
Great scissor sweep.
That elbow escape detail is incredible. Can't wait to use it.
Great dialogue. Great content. Thank you.
fastest 37 minutes ever
Even tho John doesn't compete. His students’ success speaks for itself on his knowledge of this sport .
"Let's consider the flying armbar" - 17:20 Bernando is like hell yes oh man that's an intense one oh we're not actually doing it
Good stuff but so quiet. Can you get your camera guy to boost the levels? I am in a quiet room watching on my cell phone and I have to have it right up to my ear.
Eyes wide open now. Thank you John
Settings > Volume Controls > Normal> Loud > Danaher
Awesome video! I'm wondering what instructional are they filming
He said on instagram his next series is about closed guard
Sound is bad.
I really want to watch this but I a t hear it at all
This man breaks my brain... I feel like I'm learning new math...
Question, in the go further go faster videos, what is the sequence of doing videos, does close guard first?
Please teach us rubber guard defense and related submission escapes ,nowhere in the internet good defense is available
What do you think about Eddie Bravo? I love his teachings on the Rubber Guard and everything else.
@@Michael-cq7lq great. Creative and unorthodox.
But I asked for rubberguard attacks
Best teacher out there, but damn he's so quiet. Please get that man a mic!
No wonder his team is so strong
If you’re watching this in 2020, these heroes have put together a four part fundamentals series free on BJJ Fanatics to help the community during the quarantine. Do yourself a favor, go hammer the fundamentals while we’re stuck at home. Come back stronger.
There’s so much talk about fundamentals and the importance of them but nothing really outlining what the fundamentals are
Thank you both for sharing such amazing information! Love you both!!
Please calibrate the sound: Bernardo speaks way too loud and John way too low. In order to understand what John says volume needs to be on max. Then, when an ad comes, it blows out my ears. Please fix this 🙏🏾
Bedrock of technique is movements and concepts (principles)
Love it! Thank you for the details John Danaher, Bernardo excellent idea please make more of these. I predict your videos will be responsible for exponential growth of the sport. Let’s chart it.
Great content, but the shaky cam is hard to watch.
The difficulty lies in trying to remember all the knowledge being placed before you. Many thanks.
Drillers make killers
But keep in mind what professor Danaher said; focus on the priorities. This way you wont be overwhelmed.
Impossible to listen to while working with these adverts shame totally ruined it
the eagerness to learn from a 5 times world champion from the Bjj clinical coach, displays the fundamental of fundamentals, the willing to learn, the "shoshin", I can feel it and I am sure we are many to feel that, thank you to both of you for displaying fundamentals.
I'm in total agreement with you. And like you said, many of us feel the same way about our professor's teachings.
Pow! Parceiro manda uma legenda nesse vídeo ou faz um vídeo em português explicando esses fundamentos. Seria ótimo.
It's not the move, it's the CONCEPT.
Wtf is he saying? He needs to stop acting like he's so cool and talk louder smfh
Invaluable!
Valeu bernardo! Muito bom Video!
John e demais no sistematismo e claridade e do passo a passo que ele faz!
Top!
Always a pleasure to listen to both you guys!
Unwatchable the volume is non-existant
thank you so much for this video
Gostei! Obrigado pelo conteúdo! 👊
He should speak softer. Christ.
The sound is perfect
