Hello Mercedes Lovers, I bet you own or you have seen an early 2000 Mercedes with this issue of non functional steering tilt adjustment, I tried my best to make this video as comprehensive and informative as I could, please help in the comment section to make this even more informative for those who are searching to repair this issue. Cheers...
What an excellent video. Great having the spare steering rack on the bench , that made it a lot easier to see and understand. Thank you for this informative video.😊
Hi Leonardo, Thank you for watching, how lucky I am that both of my CLKs have non functional tilt, except my R129 that Tit function still works after 30 years...over engineered...
Hi very informative when you bench tested the up and down and in and out which terminal did you connect + and - terminal unfortunately I don't have wiring diagram
hi. i have a w251. my reach column doesnt go in and out. the tilt is fine. can i repair it? the motor is running i can hear it uzzing when im press the lever . thank u
Everything is repaiable, but the problem is that, can we take the assembly apart, fix it and put back together and the car still be 100 percent safe to drive and steer and would it worth the time spent?
Hi very informative when you bench test the electric motors which terminal did you connect + and - for up and down and in and out unfortunately I dont have the color code wiring diagram
My friend, I believe this is not a DIY, this is risky and dangerous and I think it should be rectified professionally by Mercedes or a great Mercedes mechanic.
You don't need to disassemble it. If you do not use it for a long time, it gets stuck. If you forcibly lift the handle with your knee and move the tilt upward, the stuck thing will come off and it will work normally. I solved this way.....hahahaha

Thank you for the video. I replaced the part without removing the steering column itself 🙂↕️
Great, so it worked 💪
Thanks for the video , good information...
I think people call that part the 'dog bone '.
I hope mine never breaks.

Yes, typical flex issue.

My clk 350 steering wheel is locked how do I fix it

I changed my w211 broken part about $3 from the dealership
Great, did you take off the column? How long it took approximately?
I didn’t take out the column but the steering wheel. It took me about an hour to strip off bcoz i was following UA-cam instructions
What was the part number of that plastic joint?
How can it be a fuse if you hear a click ? Is that possible ?
Yeah, might be the relay secondary, a module, or the stuck mechanism...
