I have an Erlbacher Speedster CSM and I love it! It does take a bit to learn all the ins and outs, but the Erlbacher community is so incredibly helpful.
Hi People watch your podcast because you are authentic! Still not a knitter, yet, but I’ve watched all of your episodes. I enjoy quilting while I watch you! Thank you!
LOVE Twice Sheared Sheep!!! I already have a bunch of their row counters! HIGHLY Highly recommend! Use them on every single project and sometimes use 2!! Can't wait to try their "in the round" row counters. Love their beautiful stitch markers and cute progress keepers too!!
I’m so glad you enjoyed your time in our beautiful state. Meeting you two was the highlight of my day. 🤗 I’m so happy you love your stickers. I got lots of ideas from your recap video. Thank you for all you do. 🥰
I love you both and always looks forward to your podcasts! I discovered Anne Hanson’s patterns five years ago when I came across her booth at the Great Lakes Fiber Festival in Ohio (I also saw her on an early Fruity Knitting episode). I purchased the Amalfi Coast skirt pattern then, but no yarn. Coincidentally, I pulled the pattern out before the fiber festival this weekend hoping Anne would be there so that I could pick up the yarn. Unfortunately she wasn’t, but luckily I only live an hour from her shop. I can’t wait to start the skirt!
Love the episode & recap. Frederick MD is a wonderful historic town. I’ve been there several times over the past years & would always visit The Knot House before they closed. Magpie opened their storefront about a year ago. Prior to that they only dyed yarn & sold at other stores including The Knot House. Another great fiber festival you should go to is Shenandoah Valley Fiber Festival in Berryville VA. It is towards the end of September & a 2 day event. Not as big as MDSW but a lovely festival. Also Frederick MD as some smaller festivals thru the year.
The Maryland wool festival looked and sounded so good! I will try to make plans to go next year. I am sure that so many were so excited to meet you both. Glad to know that both of you are feeling better now ❤
Your hotel site was originally developed as a country club, with a nearby outdoor Music Fair under a tent with canvas director's chairs as seating. The owner/developer used to come to the club's pool and give away tickets. I saw travelling musicals there in their theatre in the round, sitting in my bathing suit with a cover-up as a kid. That development evolved into Washingtonian Rio Center. I'm glad you enjoyed the new development. Despite the drive, the location gave you a prettier drive out to Howard County to the festival, although Howard County resists widening roads for places with sporadic events, so the fairgrounds always seems blindsided by crowds trying to enter and exit. The 4-H had a display in one barn that had each different fiber as raw, washed, and spun, with a cartoon drawing of the animal it comes from, and a description and short history of the breed of sheep. I can send you copies of the photos if you are interested an I get your email. This year's Maryland Sheep and Wool is May 4-5.
Wow! Love all of this information! The hotel location was probably much better in its first iteration. And yes, here's our email address: ktogwkimandjonna@gmail.com. Thank you so much! 😘 K&J
It was great to meet you both at MDSW! (I am the Joanne of “Joanne and Helen” that you mentioned)! Just a suggestion - if you want to go again next year, now is the time to reserve an AirBnB in Frederick - they book up very early. Most have free cancellations before April 2024, so if something changes, you can get your full deposit back. Also, you might consider coming to the Shenandoah Fiber Fest in the fall (before Rhinebeck) - it’s smaller tha MDSW but the area is equally beautiful and Winchester, Virginia is equally as charming. Hope to see you again soon!
Loved the episode! Loved that you were at the Green Mountain Spinnery. I still have a very tiny ball of Green Mountain Spinnery yarn from 30+ years ago. It will never get used, but it evokes such fond memories. Back in the day GMS did fantastic ragg wools. For the newer knitters, ragg wools are now called marled. Anyway...they had a beautiful ragg wool in navy and kelly green. I know I knitted a hat and or mittens out of that yarn. I had a scrap leftover, and it is still in my jar of teeny tiny scraps of old favorites. Still love their yarn.
Hi ladies I enjoyed your pod so much as always If I had seen all that wool I would have done much damage to my bank account But I truly loved seeing all your beautiful yarns bought and what you are making for all was amazing Have a great weekend and a healthier week to come !!! 😊💝🇨🇦🇨🇦
I looked for you two at the sheep and wool and must’ve just missed you at green mountain spinners. I was there at the festival at 800 and by 2 was exhausted. Jonna ,we must be similar. Last year I bought the interlaced skirt to make, this year it was a sweater and mitts from bare naked wools. I love their yarn. Also I decided to do the vellichor when I was at green mountain Decided I spent to much so I didn’t get the yarn. But will get the yarn online. Also bought sweaters worth from miss babs . Sorry I missed meeting you both. But I did meet Kevin and ray. It is a great festival. I go every year. Am glad you were able to get there
It is always so relaxing and pleasant to spend an hour or two listening to your lovely episodes. Your pace and tone are just perfect, like you are sitting in my living room discussing your last trip. Thanks a million, and hope you both feel better soon.
Congratulations ladies, 1 million subscribers! Wowza, keep up the awesome work! Thanks for sharing the Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival! I can’t even get to Rhinebeck which is in my State, never mind out of State! Glad you gals had an amazing time! ❤❤
The Maryland Sheep Festival is the only one that I have been too, been a couple of times and now live on the other side of the country, so it was so nice to know it is still amazing and you had a great time.
Congratulations on 1 MILLION Views! Love your podcasts. Having no experience with fiber festivals, I imagine you leave with full of inspiration for knitting all the wonderful things you see. Sitting at home, I feel that way watching you both, thank you! MDSW looked like so much fun! So happy the weather cooperated.
Sorry to hear you were under the weather, no fun. I knitted the Interlaken Pullover and it's such a beautiful pattern: turned out so nice!. Glad you had a good time at the yarn festival, sounds like to much fun...
Oh my-to see your recap of the Maryland Sheep and Wool was wonderful. And to see my big mug as I met you on the road. (I was going to my car to put stuff and then come back.) It was so fun seeing you two and what an exhausting day! Thanks for remembering my name! Hugs! ❤
Hi Jonna! I also love csm, I bought one, turquoise but must figure out how to thread it. In Québec there is Chambord CSM and Dave restores old ones and makes new ones too.
Loved this mini-sode…such fun hearing all about your wonderful experience at MDSW😍. Loved seeing your video of the festival and seeing pictures of so many of my friends 😆. I was so sad to miss it this year…but hopefully I’ll be there next year and will get to spend time with you both…🤗🧶💗
Congratulations on reaching one million views. I love listening to your podcast, and I'm just about to start knitting a new pair of socks with the yarn I won as part of the Myak Knit A Long.
I get such a kick out of watching you two lol Kim and Jonna shenanigans! Did you guys know the hubby’s were the “it” for u when u met? I vaguely remember Kim met hers at church. John and Jonna makes me smile.
Thank you 💕 Yes, Kim and George met at church. They will be married 20 years this fall! My husband and I met in high school (14 and 16!) and will be married 38 years this July. 💕💕💕
It was so nice to meet you guys in person! I'm so glad you guys were able to make it down to MDSW! Also so glad that the yarn cozies were timely, once I saw that you guys were coming I just knew I had to bring some for you guys! Jonna, you should be able to pull from the outside of a cake when using it, if I'm pulling from the outside like if I'm alternating skeins I'll try to push the inside tail into the cake so it doesn't wiggle out! 😊 Oh also Magpie Fibers (it was their year anniversary of having a brick and mortar store) and Frederick!! I'm so glad you got to venture over there Jonna! I worked at their dye studio until a few weeks ago and they are so lovely and you actually got yarn that they normally don't carry since it was a fiber friends weekend and they invited a handful of yarn or yarn adjacent business to vend over the weekend, so lucky you!! I would totally recommend Frederick next time- my knitting friend and I will frequently make our way up there on weekends to hang out and knit and also be with the gals at Magpie 🥰 sounds like you guys had a wonderful weekend!
Y'all are so adorable! Jonna, try using a yarn spindle to prevent tangling when pulling your cake from the outside. It's great for slipper and sticky yarns. Also, Felica Lo from Sweet Georgia has several videos about her adventures with her new sock machine. It seem hard! Kim, your sweater is gorgeous! Your knitting skills amaze me!
I heard on Grocery Girls that Knit City will be in Toronto in 2024, and then back to Montreal the following year. The plan is to alternate every year I think. So hopefully see you in Toronto next year!
Apparently knit city Montreal…..is in Toronto next year…and back in Montreal the year after. And I’m 25 minutes away…..and didn’t go this year 😂 oh well!
Just a suggestion, if you’re going to read off lists of names that mean something to you, but not so much to anyone else, could you please add a time stamp? Thanks a bunch💐 Loved the video, thanks for sharing the fiber festival with us.😁
Jonna, I have seen those skirts online and was also tempted, but I have such bad memories of sitting in wool garments as a child and getting incredibly itchy, even with a slip on. You'll have to let us know how it goes. Kim! I was just looking at Vellichor yesterday, but I can't decide on the yarn.🤔 I would probably do something lighter and in a cotton or linen/merino blend.
Hello from Canada 😊. I'm now interested in both of those skirts! I've wanted to knit a skirt or dress, but wonder if the bum area would get stretched out from sitting. Im not sure, but i think next year Knit City may be in Toronto 🤔
Such a fun episode! I've never been to Maryland Sheep and Wool, just Rhinebeck. I assume it's not as big as Rhinebeck? That's what everyone says, although maybe it has grown since then. Thanks for sharing with us. I have to go take a peek at the skirts at Bare Naked Wools now. :D
I think there was a scene in one of the early episodes of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel where her mother instructs her on the nightly facial ritual before bed :). Maybe goat cheese? I’ll have to rewatch.
Wish everybody would just start using millimeters to state the size of needles or hooks to use. It’s so much easier because it’s standard and anyone can figure out what size that is
Have you seen the Badger and Bloom by Anne Ventzel? Also, Soldotna by Caitlin Hunter. Short floats and only two colors at a time. You could also try some mosaic knitting from Andrea Mowry. Keep us posted!
I forgot to say -- Jonna, Felicia Lo of Sweet Georgia has been showing how she uses the Earlbacker Gearhart (sp?) -- how she makes a whole sock, etc. It's not a tutorial, but it might be helpful?
The sock knitting machines are addictive. I started with one but am now up to 8. Most of them are antiques. There is a learning curve but it’s just requires practice like any new skill.
Absolutely! Two parts tequila, two parts fresh lime juice, one part Cointreau. Shake and pour into salt-rimmed glass. (Can do 2-2-2 if you like them sweeter!)

You two are a delight. Love seeing the footage from the Maryland wool festival. Looks like a place I would love to visit. Congrats on 1 million views.

I've just come across your channel because of your ranunculus video and I love your videos! They're so cheerful to watch
Maryland sounds so lovely. Besides Boston and NYC, I've never been to that part of the US.
❤ Great recap. Thank you.
I bought the same soap. They smell so good I keep a couple next to my bed so I fall asleep smelling those wonderful scents.
That’s a great idea!
