I just returned from a great trip to NC for my nephew's graduation. It was a lovely weekend with family❤ I took 2 days each way and stayed in air bnbs. The last one had a sink toilet which I'd never seen, and no Wi-Fi, but the most lovely landscaped yard, fire pit, flowers and fountains, with lots of little sitting nooks.❤ I'll be going back with my husband I feel 😊
I too have great teeth. At age 61, I hadn’t had a filling since grade 4 (and only had 2). My dentist only did X-rays about once every 5 years. Age is catching up with me however as I recently broke a chunk of tooth off when trying to use them to loosen a metal piece on my pepper grinder! My dentist said that when a tooth and metal compete, the metal will usually win out. Lesson learned!

Thanks for the episode. I do use technology but there is something about putting pen to paper, writing cursive that still gives me pleasure. I like to reread things I’ve written. I treasure any writing from my mother and father. Even just notes or recipes. The Rota is on my needles and going quickly. Thanks for the idea!

Have fun in Italy Kim. Your hair looks so good with your ranunculus 💚 I spent three nights in a cabin in the rain forest by myself, totally unplugged but there was a spa bath on the veranda so nights under the stars were glorious. Also the middle of winter so an open fire inside and it was just heaven. All alone and lots of hiking trails, pre knitting for me but it would have bee heavenly to knit. Happy knitting and thanks for the fun, Karen 🥰
You two are so funny! I wanted to buy the Needles at the Ready box so bad but I hate mystery yarn and buying things that I may not like. I read the description about 5 times before I purchased it. The deer is Ray and the owl is Kevin. The candles are labeled on the box for each with an owl or deer. I’m so happy I got it. Enjoy some time off because you guys seem burnt out. We will be here for you. ❤❤❤

I’m a dentist too. Rules in Europe are a lot stricter, we do x rays for screening purposes every two years at most. Six months sounds excessive for sure, there would be barely any change for high risk patients in that time, let alone someone without teeth issues.
Kim, perhaps you and your husband could include the PEI Fibre Festival in your Nova Scotia trip, although the timing might not be right. The festival is 5-7 October in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. Thanks to you and Jonna for another fun and entertaining podcast. I also think dental x-rays every six months is excessive. Sometimes I wonder if once a year is really necessary. If you’re also getting annual mammograms and any other imaging, it all adds up. Good for you for standing your ground!
It's so interesting to learn about medical/dental standards in other countries. Jonna always researches those things like neutering, circumcision, mammograms, etc. We can all learn from each other! Information is a good thing!
Yes, I go every 6 months to have my teeth cleaned. My dentist wants to do x-rays every year. I have good teeth and I feel my risk of getting cancer from x-rays is greater than my teeth being bad. So, I refuse and have x-rays every 2 years, I have to sign a paper that I refused x-rays. At your own risk.
I agree with you Jonna, to many xrays at the dentist. It's the only place I go for a service, pay a lot of money and get scolded. I want to feel good when I leave.
My dentist also wants X-rays at every check up, I refused as I have no problem as I am aware of and don’t want X-rays on my head just in case . My choice correct ✅ ❤x

I was really shocked to hear about your dentist. I am biased because I live in the UK and we have the NHS. I am not a dentist but I am a doctor. I am sure you do not need to have an X-ray of your teeth every 6 months if you have no symptoms, I certainly have never heard of this happening here, even with private dentists. Your dentist is just making money out of you/ your insurer. Over investigation and over treatment is common in private healthcare systems, they are a business. Also X-rays are a form of radiation and can cause cancer. For example, breast cancer screening programmes cause a small increase in the number of breast cancers but this is offset by early diagnosis and treatment of cancers detected by screening. Do what you think is best for you and find a dentist who respects your choices.
I'm a dentist, no need for check-up x-rays every 6 months!! Especially if you go every 6 months for hygiene appointments
