During the Iron Dominion Saga, most pacifically, the Journey to the East Arc in Sonic Universe, Espio was revealed to be a member of the Shinobi Clan and may or may not be in relation to the clan’s leader, the Bride of Constant Vigil. Was this particular backstory for Espio a personal head-canon of yours that you integrated into the comics or is your head-canon for Espio’s backstory something else entirely?

did Shard take any design cues from robot master aesthetics? I know he had the arm canon as 'Metal 2.0' way back when, but the way his limbs were drawn always looked very Mega Man to me.

I was just curious & was wondering if you're able to elaborate or not (& sorry if this seems like an old topic), why was Infinite's backstory not explored a bit more in his mini comic for Sonic Forces? More so than just "he wants to see the world burn," well, to me it seemed, at least. Were you not able to tell more of his story because you weren't given enough info or was told not to tell too much just in case it may have contradicted the game/needed to follow some guidelines? Or also might have been where you were limited to 4 pages?

So Ian, Dr. Wily want to rule the world, but exactly what would a world ruled by Dr. Willy be like exactly? Unlike Eggman, who wants to rule the world due to him believing the planet can be improved with his machines, Willy seems to just want to be recognized for his genius. So would a world ruled by Dr. Willy be a terrible place to live in?

Great video! I am so excited for the future of IDW Sonic! Can't wait to see how the metal virus saga concludes and what new stories will be told after.
I just got Volume 1-4 of the IDW Sonic Comics and I'm waiting for volume 5. I'm enjoying it so much. With the pandemic, the comics have been postponed, so I hope to catch up with the story before Evan takes over as the head story teller.
I love how Evan her boyfriend just randomly drew a mustache on a character and it became canon.

Dang, Ian. You're departing the main title? Everytime there was a major change (the Super Genesis Wave continuity change and the comic going from Archie to IDW) I took solace in the fact that you were still there. At least you'll still be around, just doing minis instead.
I love the Gamecube Sonic Games (Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, Sonic Heroes, and Shadow the Hedgehog).
While I'm sad to see him step back, I think the way it's happening is great. He's not immortal (I think?) and can't do Sonic forever, especially as he's picking up 20 other universes (including one wholly his own) to write. The torch has to be passed at some point, so having Evan take over the core while he's still hanging out on the sidelines means things can stay cohesive and mentoring can happen as is useful.

Silver the hedgehog is said to be 14 years old. In character, he is almost, just almost 14 years old. He was first created in 2006 right?

Sure, Eggman sending Metal to attack the Deadly Six was excusable; he literally had nothing else to fight them with and very little time to come up with alternatives. But what about Sonic and Co. sending Gemerl to fight Zeena? That was a deliberate decision as part of a coordinated, simultaneous assault on the Deadly Six in one last effort to rid the Metal Virus from the world. And unlike with Eggman and Metal, there was an alternative to sending Gemerl at Zeena: Cream, who very vocally wanted to be part of the plan even. Only to be shot down by Gemerl for her safety, even though she's perfectly combat-capable and Gemerl himself is a much bigger risk to the plan than anything if not *the* biggest risk
If the idea was that Gemerl would blitz in and beat Zeena into unconsciousness, isn't that exactly what Metal tried to do only to get controlled in quick succession? And sure, Zeena is vain, but in that case, Cream would be even better to deliberately send in since the Zeti girl would lower her guard completely with Cream only to be met with a spin dash or flying kick to the face. With Gemerl, all Zeena needed was a split-second to control him and the plan would've been destroyed had Cream not forced herself in. Heck, Cream very likely would not have been infected in the fight had she not had to deal with a mind-controlled/puppetted Gemerl. A much better compromise would've been to have Gemerl guard the Master Emerald in Knuckles' stead, freeing him up to accompany someone else against a Zeti and thereby providing Cream a companion for Zeena
Sorry if this came off forceful. Can't deny that I'm more than a little miffed that Cream was excluded from a major plan *once again*, after all that nonsense between her and Sally throughout SWC in Archie, even though Gemerl was the one who should have been excluded entirely. Sure, Cream got to be part of the action anyway and Gemerl admitted he was wrong, but it was still annoying to see a character tell Cream "It's too dangerous" again...
