    Patience is a virtue, working on old power saws is a blessing. Who wants a new saw with built in obsolescence? Why waste time on consumerism to replace parts that are costly, built-in from the design faults to buy more! Well done Tinman!

    Nice to see another old saw being kept alive!! I keep my boiler going with the help of old yellows saws so this was a useful video. Nice attention to details in your work.

    I have ported a sachs dolmar 120 yesterday based on your tutorial. This this thing has all of the simple things done to it that you suggested and it absolutely rips. It is at least 20% stronger and has about the same amount more torque. Thank you for your help making this saw insane.

    Tinman, check out Permitex Aviation sealant. I use it all the time, its a game changer. I've used it when removing base gaskets on my saws. The fuel and oil won't mess with it over time either.

    Bitchin, the sound reminds me of my dads Super Rat, ol 72 100cc Hodaka. Always look forward to wrenchin on the saws on the bench, until you get a parts sent that are suppose to be new and the cylinder winds up having nicks in it 😓. Guess just another reason to rip into a different one until it gets figured out. Always a good time in the tinman shop keep it up great content, thanks. 👍🙏

    can you provide info on sourcing parts for old saws so i can actually use your good advice on saw repair to fix my collection of wore out saws that ive saved because everyone told me i needed to buy a new saw because it would cost too much to have them repaired.
    im now retired and woke up to the fact that if im not going to wear out saws any more i might just as well fix these wore out ones i have and let someone else have a wack at them.

    Watch that recoil. A mac is a pain taking apart and cleaning it up. That spring will unwind and it seems 50ft long. Shes sounding good. They are hard on the ears but sound sweet.

    I own a 455 rancher and was wondering if you have any suggestions on making it more powerful. I have read about porting it, but I do not have the confidence to do it myself and can't find anybody who can do it. So are there any other options?
    P.S. I ordered a 24' bar and was hoping to run that :).

    • @shapeshifter7753
      @shapeshifter7753 3 роки тому

      Good day. I’ve got one too. I keep in mind that it is not a professional grade saw. In my opinion find a 266xp or 272 that needs work and put your money into that.

    • @tinmanssaws
      @tinmanssaws  3 роки тому

      Like shape shifter said, I'd just get a bigger saw.

    • @jopkoenes3511
      @jopkoenes3511 3 роки тому

      @@shapeshifter7753 Thats not really an option, because I am only 18 years old and do not have that kind of money laying around. On the dutch husqvarna site it says a max lenght of 22" for a 455 rancher. Does that 1 extra inch matter that much? Nevertheless thanks for your opinion!

    • @shapeshifter7753
      @shapeshifter7753 3 роки тому

      Jop Koenes being 18 is a great advantage! You’ve got a lot of time to look around for a great deal on a blown up ol pro saw while you watch Iron Horse and Tinman videos on how to hop em up 🔥 and you’ve got a great stock saw there to use while your having a great time with it all👍

    • @shapeshifter7753
      @shapeshifter7753 3 роки тому +1

      If you feel you really need the extra length put a skip tooth chain on it and keep up on your maintenance. Keep that chain cover assembly and clutch nice n clean and try not to file your rakers down too far. I hope this helps young friend 😎
