My mom used Intimate for as long as I can remember. I can still smell it sometimes.

The human lipstick part was kind of trippy but I still loved it.

LOVED these ads! So early 60's! Miss 'Frosted Pink' in that wild human lipstick board reminded me a bit of January Jones when she played Betty Draper in Mad Men!

Great ads! And... there's a bonus celebrity: in the "Flama Grandé" segment, when the camera returns to the cocktail party at 4:18 , legendary African-American performer PEARL BAILEY is visible seated on the sofa (just to the left of Barbara Britton)! Super Cool!!

Barbara Britton was " the Revlon lady " for many years .

She started endorsing their cosmetics when they sponsored the final season of "MR. AND MRS. NORTH" in 1954. They liked the way she "pitched" their lipsticks and other products, and kept her around for least a decade.

@@fromthesidelines For those You Tube viewers who are interested there's an YT vid of Ms. Britton in the 1970s being interviewed while touring in summer stock . Not as glamourous as her Paramount, Revlon days but still the movie actress .

I'm surprised that a few of these commercials are in color, because in 1960-'61 there were still very few color programs on TV, and thus very few ads in color as well.

These women are so gorgeous. The days before everyone had their lips blown up. That is the ugliest thing ever. Why would someone want to do that to themselves? Accept the way God made you and love it, it looks much better than those damn fake lips!

Revlon still makes shades from the 1950's that are winners, Fire and Ice, Certainly Red, Cherries In The Snow, and more..

@@bloodynessie1 In the 1960's, to draw attention to the eyes, the lips became pale. Shades like Barely Pink, Nearly Nude, Barely Mauve were the rage and the eyes were dramatic, with false eyelashes becoming popular.. When I was in High School in the 1960's some girls wore lashes to school...

Too much competition? Too associated with "boomers"? Or just not a very good product? Or - still uses animal testing? Who knows.

    • @1953childstar

@@ferociousgumby COVID was no help.. Revlon owned Elizabeth Arden Inc, as well as Almay, Mitchum, vitamin and contact lens companies.. When COVID arrived, the company decided to close all the Arden salons across the country ( and terminated many employees ). The quality of Revlon products is as good as the most expensive brands, but the largest stock holder- Ronald Perelman decided to start liquidating his stocks in 2020.. As for your reference to "Boomers", they spend quite a bit of money on cosmetics, so I would rethink that idea. They have a good deal of expendable money.. Consider this, how many women do you see daily with a "full face" of makeup on.. When I was a child, a woman never left the house "without makeup".. Now, not so much !!!

I really hate to hear that . I'll bet it is too much competition. With all of the Ulta and Sephora stores popping up everywhere. I think that they do have the best lipsticks.

@@1953childstar I think the philosophy of makeup has changed quite a bit. In my day (says the ancient mariner), we were expected to thin out and pluck our eyebrows into shape, and sharply outline our lips with lip liner. Those bodily parts are no longer in fashion - not in that form, anyway. It's full lips and full brows - and the brows I can get behind, since the remainder of mine fell out years ago from being over-plucked. The full lips too often result from being blown up with collagen injections to blubbery, swollen proportions. I don't know about the rest of it - I have grandgirls in their teens, and the only time they wear makeup at all is when they're dancing onstage, and theatrical makeup is thick as a dinner plate. The rest of the time they are breathtakingly gorgeous without any enhancement at all. Myself, I draw eyebrows on when I go out.

@@ferociousgumby That is very true… I was the business manager for Arden, Dior, Ritz, Guerlain, Clairins, YSL, Chanel and more.. I have seen over 50 years of the "cosmetics business".. Also, "Prestige" brands are struggling now, the La Prairie, Sisley and others are having a hard time ( especially when a jar of cream is $450.00 and people are worried about our horrible economy )….
