I own a house right on the Columbia and I love watching the ships go by. Great video!
Jealous 😁
I had to watch it twice, the first time the clouds were mesmerising. You do great work man; video producer and sailor. Thank you.
I took that ride once in The Navy, ( Guided Missile Cruiser) all the way to downtown Portland for The Rose Festival- WHAT A BLAST ! I'd stack that visit up against any port I ever saw overseas.
Yeah, that is when the sailors swim up river to spawn in Portland.
Those pilots are gangster AF with the helo drops
AWESOME!!! I worked on the Columbia River for a year or two on a Tug dredging at Longview/Rainier, with dumpscows going up the Willamette to Ross Island, I loved seeing your timelapse footage, it brought back the old days as an AB Mate Apprentice standing long nighttime navigational watches on the river. Nice work
Great video again Joe.
Back in the 90s I went to OSU in Corvallis. My buddies and I would head up to the river to wind surf. I definitely recognized some of the places. I lived in fear of wiping out and not being to water start right away while one of those Tidewater barges or larger ships like this stormed down the river at me.
Really cool Joe
This looks like heaven.
That's cool I live and work along the columbia river those big cargo ships pass by all the time, its interesting to see their perspective
Pilots earn their money on that run!
That was a awesome video
Did an apprenticeship at tpjcc seamanship on the tug big Ed, it was fun .I wish I could have changed a few bad choices but that area is beautiful and I enjoyed 2 years in it the graveyard of the pacific that bar can be a bear to cross. I missed the tounge point
EPIC!
Love this vid!
That helicopter ride must be the best part for the pilots. Crazy
Yea, its always cool seeing them come down
I'm sure they prefer the helicopter... ua-cam.com/video/DZCLKq1XVFg/v-deo.html
I live in Astoria, thats the first time i've seen the view all the to Portland via the water. Great video
Glad you enjoyed it!
super cool vid sir - I get queezy just going over the Astoria bridge there much less coming in over the bar on a ship, (or getting dropped by helo...) Lewis and Clark would be impressed I think.
Sailed in as far as Astoria (first big bridge as you come in from the Pacific) on a cruise liner recently. Wish we could have gone all the way to Portland as that looked beautiful.
Astoria! thats where the Goonies was filmed
I wanna be a pilot just so I can be delivered to work like that.
wow
Looks like it’s really close to things at times! EEK
Agusta A109SP Helicopter, registration N361CR.
Those ship pilots get shit done! Damn
What was that CHOPPER trying ??
Some places helo drop Pilots instead of by boat because it’s a far ride out where they have to meet.
It wasn’t trying. It accomplished.
You write like a fool.
