I searched high and low for our manual. Then was able to scan the QR code inside of the microwave and obtain a copy of the digital manual. There was NOTHING in the literature about replacing this light, only the overhead range light. Thank you so much for this video.
What an excellent video. He talks slowly and clearly. My husband and I are the "Lucy & Ricky" of DIY, and yet we were able to do this with his help. Thank you
Thank you SO much! Saved me a service call. I called GE, and they originally gave me a part number for the light bulb, and said to remove the top grill (like you did) and said the bulb would be behind the charcoal filter. I went and bought the bulb, and then when I removed the grill, there was not charcoal filter, and I couldn't see where the bulb would be. I called GE again and talked to someone who said for this model, I couldn't do it myself, but would have to call a repair person. So glad I found your video. It was easy to do...or it WOULD have been if GE had told me the right bulb to buy. Now I just have to exchange the bulb for the right one and will be in business. Thanks again!
Thank you! I found NOTHING in my GE Profile Convection Microwave Oven Model JVM1790SK01 Owner's Manual, nor anything helpful on GE's website. I am not even certain which model bulb to buy. Your video is excellent.
Very helpful video, thanks for posting it. I could replace the bulb based on your video. I can't believe that GE makes it so complex to replace the light bulb. If they had provided the screws in the front of the grill instead of on the top, it could be done without completely dismounting the microwave.
Good explanation, thanks. Not sure why GE made it so complicated to replace a light bulb.
Thanks - was able to do this easily. The GE manual had no info at all.
Thanks. Nice video. I envy your clean clutter free workbench. Mine looks nothing like that.
Thank you. This is the 2nd one I watched. Excellent. I am really looking for a Samsung model. But I get a fair idea how to do it. Wonderful demonstration.
Thanks for taking the time to make this video, more importantly, thanks for sharing! It saved me a service call.
Hi James, no problem at all; thanks for watching, and the kind words! Glad we could save you the financial headache of a service call!
Great Video! Thank you so much. I was able to change the bulb with your help.
Yup. Different model but it worked.
Awesome! Thanks for the post.
It's looks doable. Thanks. I'll ask my handyman if he'd give it a shot.
This looks like my GE Profile JVM1790SK01 1650 watt microwave with convection.
The newest GE's seem to only be 1200 watts or less.
Why did they stop making this super powerful and beautiful oven?
It seems if mine ever needs replacing I will have to switch brands because I will not step down to a less powerful model. This seems to be a bad move on GE's part to stop making these. I do love this model.
That is, for the surface light underneath...

I have a GE microwave, but it isn't anything like this one. I suppose it takes the same bulb.
Hi Bob, if you can provide your model number for your microwave I can check to see what GE recommends for your model.
I want an LED bulb equivalent replacement for the GE microwave. Have yet to find one.
According to geapplianceparts.com the replacement halogen bulb is part number WB25X10019
@@kdr3yt Thanks Ken. It's been 7 years since my original post and I've since moved and that microwave was replaced before I moved. Good to see more LED options for microwave bulbs.
