As I recall "The Wah-Watusi" was part of the soundtrack to the movie "The Help". The Orlons' hits sound just as crisply arranged and perfectly produced today as they did when released in the '60s. I loved this single and played both sides. The flip was a really lovely ballad called "Holiday Hill". Their biggest hits were (I think) South Street, Don't Hang Up. The Wah Watusi, Not Me, and Crossfire, but they also charted with Mr. Twenty One, Shimmy Shimmy, and a few others. Their B sides were sometimes really cool, I particularly liked "Them Terrible Boots". Listen to The Orlons hits on a good sound system and you'll easily understand why they were so successful. The drummer was particularly impressive. Singles like these are why so many of us still miss vinyl 45s!
Love,Love,Love This Song Brings Me Back To My Teenage Years , Great Memories Of Those Days Long Ago !!! The Orion’s , Wonderful Group , Great Singer’s and Musicians 🎶🎵🎼🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹😊
Remember in the early 60,s this was playing all the time in our apt in the Bronx , this ones for you Rita , I miss you We had so much music in that apt. With 4 older sisters I heard a lifetimes worth of great music. So grateful still love it and brings tears to my cheeks.
How can you not get happy when you hear this song? Just like "The twist" , both songs make you smile and want to dance. Nice to see they are still performing together.
How can be when the three original members were dead when this performance occurred? Steven Caldwell is the only original singer, one sister that was in and out the group and two cousins of Steven Caldwell. They do sound great as a group!
Marlena Davis, of the original group, left in 1964. She died of lung cancer in 1993. She also did the swooping backing vocal on the Tymes hit, "So Much in Love", since they were label-mates.
Best thing I’ve seen on the Internet in a long time I wonder whatever happened to these people! This used to be my jam back in the day when I was stationed in Japan and the United States Marine Corps. Are used to always return and I was the male lead vocal.
saw them perform at Rosetree, could have been at this concert and got an autographed photo from Stephen Caldwell. He took the time to take a picture with me and chat a little. Nice man.
This group also did what was for me a "mystery single" called "The Conservative". I had no idea what it meant when I was a kid but it sounded pretty good. Imagine if they put that one out NOW !? People would be instantly offended! LOL....
The male singer, Stephen Caldwell was an original member. The woman on the right is Jean Brickley who is the sister of original member, Audrey Brickley.
My father in law Kal Mann wrote South Street and wah wah Watusi for the Orlons, and if he was still with us, he would love this Video!!!
"South Street" is very good. This song is nothing less than brilliant.
This group takes me back over 50 years ago!

WOW!! Their voices sound just the same as on the 45.

Only Steven Caldwell in the middle, and Shirley Brickley on the far right, Rosetta Hightower and Audrey brickley passed away sadly
The one on the far right her name is jeans brickley
Shirley died in 1977. The only original left at this point was Caldwell. He still is.
These are the Orlon's from the 1970's. The original members are dead. Long dead.
The male singer, Stephen Caldwell was an original member. The woman on the right is Jean Brickley who is the sister of original member, Audrey Brickley.
@@JHA71359 Thank you, Jim. I understand one member was murdered in a home invasion back in 1977. Atleast, according to Google.
Yes agree…although this may be the original Stephen Caldwell seen here.
@@garrettdavis6500 Wikipedia has a pretty good summary of the group members and what happened.
Yes, it is the original Stephen Caldwell!@@mrob75
