Chase, you should also react to Agnetha's latest single (Where Do We Go From Here), released in 2023.
You should also react to two of best Frida's solo effort, The Sun Will Shine Again produced in 2003, and Aven En Blomma, produced in 1996❤ ( Do react to the original version of Aven En Blomma of 4 minutes plus, and NOT the short version of 3 minutes plus).

Hello, Chase! Agnetha Feltskog had a long break in her solo career from 1988-2004. In April 2004, Agnetha released the English-language album "My Coloring Book", composed of cover versions of the singer's hits of the 1960s. The album entered the top 10 in a number of European countries and was warmly received by music critics. In the same year, she was nominated for the Nordic Music Awards as the best singer, and at Christmas she gave her first extensive interview in recent years. The album has sold 500,000 copies worldwide. By the end of 2004, 46,000 copies of the album had been sold in the UK, and in Sweden, the home of Feltskog, over 64,000 copies had been sold in the first week of release. "My Coloring Book" also reached the sixth position in the German charts in May 2004. From this album, I really like her performance of the song "When You Walk in the Room". There's a UA-cam video of her. It would be interesting to know your impression of the song and performance👋

Chase - so psyched you're doing a deep dive into Agnetha Faltskog - Sweden's pop princess. Before ABBA, she was actually a teenaged pop star in Sweden. This is one of many solo albums she did after ABBA disbanded. Anifrid (Frida) Lyngstad also had a solo career prior to, and after ABBA. Another classic ABBA song with Frida in the lead I highly recommend is 1976's Fernando, definitely one of their top 5 classic hits, a beautiful up tempo ballad with a spanish flair. Welcome to ABBA world 🌎 - we're glad to experience the journey with you! You will continue to be entertained.

Don't forget Frida! Check out "En Ledig Dag". It is in Swedish but beautiful. There is a UA-cam version with English Subtitles for the intrusive interview before she sings. It pre-dates ABBA. This was Agnetha’s ( pronounced Anyetta) second solo single since ABBA went their separate ways at the end of 1982 & the title track of the album which was her first in English. The backing band was made up of some musicians that used to play on the ABBA records & the record was recorded in ABBA’s studio, Polar Music at the beginning of 1983. It was commercially successful in Scandinavia & Europe reaching Number 1 in Sweden & Norway. Thanks for your reaction!

You pronouced, first take the h away. We don't use that sound, it's just there to look nicer. The g is like n in the English pronoucing of bank or ng in English. And you start saying A as i in ice or just I but not the j-sound in it. And a long e from nEver, but looong. Oh, there we have the sound of g again in loNG. The last a is like the last a in Aretha or last a in Anna.
      So, A=I-j, g=ng, nee, t, a=last a in Anna.
      A=long, g=long, ne=long, t=short, a=short.
I should have wright these on paper before I wright it here. Maybe confusing 😅.

Agnetha's style forever romantic....she has recently released two singles and the music videos are done in fun animation, you should check those out. Frida's solo effort at this time was opposite with a rock side....check out her video 'I Know There's Something Going On', an iconic early '80's worldwide hit.
As for the two boys, Benny and Bjorn collaborated with legend Tim Rice to write and produce a popular musical called CHESS. A huge worldwide hit from the soundtrack titled 'One Night In Bangkok' has a fun music video featuring lead singer Murray Head. Check this out, you will instantly recognize Benny's keyboard magic as well as Bjorn's lyric writing. Cheers Chase !

Some of these musicians toured with ABBA...
4:30 in special: Lasse Wellander on guitar and Rutger Gunnarsson on base played on most ABBA recordings.
You can see both of them in videos of ABBA concerts (e.g. "ABBA in Concert") and videos of TV specials (e.g. "If It Wasn’t for the Nights"). ✌️

  • @electromaniac1
    @electromaniac1 8 місяців тому +2

You pronounced her name very well actually! This tv performance is playback. The ones playing behind her (Lasse Wellander, the guitar player also playing on the Abba recordings) is probably the ones played on her solo album. The reason Abba stopped was more they got tired of being Abba. They had said that when it stopped being fun they wouldn't continue. So their priorities changed. Also B&B wanted to start writing the musical Chess. Agnetha released three albums after Abba, the last one, I stand alone, in 1987 which was recorded in the U.S. and produced by Peter Cetera from the group Chicago. Not until 2004 did she release a new album again, singing covers of songs she grew up with. 2013 another album, A, with original songs. And last year A+, a reimagined version of A, with a new song added. Frida released two albums, in 1982 (Something's going on, and in 1984 (Shine). In 1996 an album sung in Swedish since she didn't want to do an international production. Apart from that she's appeared on a few singles, one for instance a song with John Lord of Deep Purple. I wish she'd record more since she has a fantastic voice. She was over 70 singing on Abbas "comeback" album Voyage, her voice is so strong on the song No doubt about it, another song worth reacting to. I haven't read all the comments so maybe someone else has already written about what have here. /Kenneth

They never really split up per se. There was never an announcement as such. Agnetha and Bjorn were married, as were Benny and Frida. Both couple had divorced by 1981 and things had become strained. Abba took a break in 1982. Benny and Bjorn wrote the musical chess, Frida and Agnetha recorded solo albums. During 1893 and even in 1984 the girls particularly said they would record with ABBA again. Things changed and life went on for all 4 of them. They never recorded again until 2018. During the next 35 years all 4 denied they would ever get back together. They were even offered 1 billion dollars to do a series of concerts in the 2000’s.Agnetha and Frida both had particularly difficult personal lives during the 1990s and it wasn’t until the idea of digital ABBA came up that they recorded again. Bennys son Ludvig was a big driver of this I beleive. Loving your discovery of ABBA, you really should listen to the song The Visitors. One of their best.

Not live….mimed for a TV show. Abba were two couples. After they were all divorced, and after ten years on the merry-go-round, they’d really had enough. It was no longer fun. Almost 40 years later, they decided there was still a bit more fun to be had. One album, a digital live show….roll the credits.

The age old fan argument...which woman was better is starting to bubble up. Bottom line, they were both great world class singers. They had almost the same number of leads in the 120 plus ABBA songs that were produced. Almost every fan has a favorite but you can't deny that they were both great.
A summary of the band's formation.
Frida was classically trained and started out as a Jaz singer
Agnetha wasn’t classically trained but she was a song writer while she was a solo act.
Benny and Born met and started writing songs together
    Bjorn Met and Married Agnetha
Benny Met and became engaged to Frida (Marriage came much later)
The guys discovered that the girls were much better singers when the ladies did some backing tracks for them
Sig (the head of the record company, Polar, who signed ABBA) was busy trying to get out of Sweden and into the world wide music business
Sig and the group now named ABBA broke out into world wide music at Eurovision with Waterloo.
Success and the strain of being at the top of the music world takes its toll.
400 million record later both couples were divorced and new song inspirations were gone. They put things on pause for almost 40 years.
    The girls post ABBA
Agnetha had some solo hits and then went into a funk and led a private life for quite a while
Frida teamed up with Phil Collins for her first solo hits. Then went on with other producers. She even hosted TV variety shows in Sweden where she showed her chops singing everything including believe it or not a cover of Fire and ice. Later she teamed with John Lord of Deep Purple with the Sun will shine again.
Frida had a tough life as a kid and then she was hit with more tragedy after ABBA. She married a prince and became a Princess. Unfortunately he died of cancer a few years later. Shortly after that her daughter died. She’s apparently both a tough and a kind lady and she slowly came back from all of that.
    The guys post ABBA
Meanwhile Benny and Bjorn wrote the musicals Chess, and Kristine. They collaborated in the Musical Mama Mia. And both are still very active. Bjorn is 78 and travels all over the world promoting music causes. Benny has his own orchestra and performs regularly.
Getting back together, Voyage a game changing show for the music industry.
All of them were instrumental in producing Voyage a show in London which cost over 140 million to produce and still after more than a year and half plays to sold out houses. You’ve gotta see the teaser clips to believe what they managed to do.

Whilst all members went on to do more music, they were nowhere near as successful as far as ‘hits’ go. Some decent songs but stronger as a unit. They got back together in 2018 for one more album, released in 2021. But the ABBA story has probably ended, sadly.

Both Agnetha and Anni-Frid enjoyed success as solo artists again after ABBA, Agnetha probably more so. You must know that all four band members were sucessful artists in their own right before coming together as a group. Benny and Bjorn were both in bands that had chart sucess both in Sweden and Norway. Agnetha started singing and recording from young and had sucessful albums and singles. Fridas music style was more jazz/pop based but had won a music talent show which got her noticed buy a record company. Each of the group members had started toying with solo projects while still singing and promoting their music as a band. Benny and bjorn had been toying with the idea of writing a stage musical and teamed up with sucessful theatre writer Tim Rice and the 3 produced the musical 'Chess' which debued in London.

@@rdwulf6289 See Chase, I told you the fan base would have their favorites. We are usually well behaved, but have polite arguments when it comes to who was better. It doesn't mater they were both great. Me, I'm a Frida fan. :)

@@chrishaas2376 If some of Agnetha's fans wouldn't always tell lies about Frida then maybe there would be less of this competition. But even today they are still continuing to upgrade Agnetha by making Frida bad.

I haven't heard a single fan put down Frida. They might prefer one lady over another but that's a matter of taste.@@Lisa-M

Did you react to the winner takes it all yet ? One of the best pop ballads ever made where she really shines vocally within ABBA.
They where divorced at the end of their career and 2 years after (1982) the energy ran out and they wanted to do different things for a while. Nobody ever could think they record a new album 40 years later and building a 150 milion dollar avatar show in a purpose build arena in Londen with 6000 visitors allmost every day since may 2021... Ive been there and it is marvelous and again at the forefront of pionering in entertainment (as they were in the 70ties with videoclips and music production!

They split up because they got tired of each other. The two couples were once married, then divorced. And the guys wanted to move on to make musicals what they did. So the girls did solo albums - Agnetha in 1983, 1985, 1987, 2004 and 2013 / Frida in 1982,1984 and 1996. Agnetha was more succesful chartwise. The ABBA comeback album followed in 2021.

Now try a song from her 2013 album called When You Realy Loved Someone. She was 63 years when she did that song and it´s great!
