Always great to see you, Brian. 💗 Certainly a great overview. So much time has past since I last saw you in a Mercedes-Benz. I'm excited to experience this car in person, the EQS and EQE are incredible. Interesting points about the Hyperscreen. I do love it, though I've ran into a few issues.
I agree with your take on the so called hyperscreen Brian. It's overkill and unnecessary. The standard screen is just fine. The capacitive buttons are regressive imo. May look cool but functionally a step back. Overall the vehicle seems very good. EQS SUV buyers will not be amused.
Real buttons are a luxury nowadays. Capacitive buttons are much cheaper to produce and install, yet will be much more expensive to replace. It's a win-win for the manufacturers.

At least the display is not sticking up in front of the windshield like in teslas. But I agree that the cheaper option with the smaller screen is better and look more aesthetically pleasing.
Great review Brian, well done sir. 12:00 I agree, its a big no for the hyperscreen for me. I think it its an option anyway, so standard spec is a portrait style tablet screen, which I think is all one needs.
I have to say, the Display is way less distracting than other brands because it uses easily distinguishable icons and has the most important functions on screen at all times. The visual details in the navigation system are stunning too, my A class has them to a lesser degree and it’s just interesting to see all the detailed buildings in every city you enter
Great looking car, I really like the electric vehicle design direction of Mercedes Benz, lets hope there is a new people carrier (EQV, E-Vito) in the works!
I love the hyper screen and the interior overall. If you don't like the hyperscreen: don't order it: it's optional. But the exterior has no character. It does not look like SUV. The GLE looks much better. Why Lotus can make exciting looking electric SUV: Eletre? And Mercedes instead creates cars for a grandma? And I agree with Thomas, the old seat control buttons are better.
Always a delight watching Brian's reviews. I absolutely agree about the hyperscreen. It looks futuristic and interesting, but it isn't better in way than what we had before. On my A35 I use pretty much only the track pad thing on the central console. I actively avoid using the touch screen because when I turn the car off the entire screen will be covered with finger smears. And even without that the track pad is much more comfortable, your hand rests on the armrest and you can control the infotainment without reaching forward. The small track points on the steering wheel are ok, but they don't have haptic feedback of the track pad, so they are not as intuitive. But let's not fool ourselves, this is all cost cutting for the industry. They are not replicating Tesla because their system is better for the driver, they are doing it because Tesla is getting away with it. Same reason why phones nowadays don't let you change the battery - Apple started it and the rest of the industry, seeing that the customers are ok with it, decided they should do it as well.
if you are a old rich man, tal (1.90cm) and fat (130kg), you dont mind stop from time to time, you only want to do a long journey confortable in the backseat of the car, would you chose to be in EQE SUV or a GLE?
Mercedes: "Let's just put our heatexchanger as heatpump in the featurelist so the quarreling will stop, people will not know the difference and they cannot look it up because we don't allow the hood to open" 😜
Nice car, lets hope the fix the naming of the EQA und EQC with new models so they will be EQA SUV and EQC SUV. Be aware, the EQE SUV has nearly the same size inside as the EQC

Rumor is that EQC is selling bad and is not going to be produced anymore, but that seems strange. Feels like they need to offer an electric GLC in some form.
@ EQC was always not a good electric car. It started with only 7kwh charging and has bad consumption. Currently the EQA is a better deal then the EQC. We will see what they can offer with a 100% electric EQC which is not based on cv.

@@rarepanda3766 Yeah, I'm sceptical about every ev that's based on an ice car. I have a Model S today, and was looking at ordering an EQE because I want a quieter, more comfortable car, but they immediately raised the price in Sweden, and the government changed the ev bonus rules making it too damn expensive 😤

@ For me as i have 2 dogs i was really hoping for a good SUV with a nice trunk. EQE is enough for me, i am missing the Frunk. As the Dogs fill the trunk i need to store the normal cable, which is currently (EQA) in the back row... Not perfect especially for a Mercedes. Either way, it is depending on the final price i guess with nearly full extra it is 105-115k. Will see if it is worth it. 50k extra for EQS SUV is too much at this point. @thomas i bought the EQA over the EQC cause be the newer enginge range charging... therefore i know why no one wanna buy the eqc for the price they are offering
Anyone who can’t hack it to open the hood after purchasing that shouldn’t be interested in what’s underneath to begin with. A true tinkerer would find a way in
I feel this is just a short wheelbase EQS and doesn't warrant a whole separate name or launch. There was a time when an E Class or GLE was ACTUALLY different to and S Class/GLS or a C Class/GLC. Now it isn't really and especially more so with the EQ models. Why would someone buy an EQS SUV then.
First off - thanks to Brian for addressing this unspeakable ergonomics. Even the standard dislay is an ergonomic disaster for me. At least this SUV looks better proportioned visually than the really failed sedans in my eyes. I could live with that. This vehicle does not offer a replacement for my E-Class station wagon either. The trunk is too small, the control concept is creepy, and the exterior design can't make up for any of that. I don't see myself continuing to drive Mercedes for the next few years.
Door handles are copied from Tesla model S that came with them in 2012 - talk about slow development 😂😂the car looks great though - but capacitive buttons is a no go 👎
You make a excellent arguments but it leans towards your *AGE DEMOGRAPHIC* as the younger buyer is enamored by the technology more than just a good ole fashioned fm radio and plastic buttons.
Honestly, it looks like shit. Last gen Mercs all look like garbage. BMW as well. I dont know what the issue with mercedes is, they simply look like deformed tadpoles. BMW looks like they got drunk baiting each other on who can make the bigger grill. Audi is where its at. Their new E lineup rocks that I just might turn in my A6 for an electric one.
