If finally we get the contest between both of them at peak fitness, no injuries - this will be a blinder.
CORRECTION - Bekele injured, contest now off :(
All being well, if Bekele could have maintained pace with Kipchoge across the race, he could have taken it in the last few kilometers. But keeping up with Kipchoge's consistency is the key, huge challenge.
Really hoped this might have been a photo finish - but to no avail. Hopefully next year then...

I believe this marathon is particularly interesting, mostly because of one important detail: it merges both track racing (Bekele's territory) and marathon racing (Eliud's territory). This race is an incredibly delicate (and rare) combination of their respective disciplines. Although, consistency favours Eliud far greater, whereas Bekele's victories in the marathon are quite serendipitous.

Man that's rough for Eluid, only training in a loop. If he can still pull it off in record time it will be epic.

I think he was referring to the new London marathon course that is a 19 lap course of 2.1 km

Training around a loop would actually help for this course I think

Although that’s what I thought too when he initially said it, the reply from Sorengoat is correct - he was talking about the marathon course (rather than his training being restricted to a small loop)
