I know this is old but my wife's 2009 escape hybrid was doing this intermittently dying at stops in cold or rainy weather and I found this video after weeks of troubleshooting. Checked both fuse #5 and #29 and found them oxidized, replaced them both and have had no issues in a week.....BOY I WAS SWETTING HAVING TO GET THE PCM REPLACED. Thanks buddy you may have saved me a bunch of money.😁😁
Great description, very detailed. What I liked the most is. You can understand to do it yourself. You go slow enough and methodically explain everything to understanding. Keep doing these videos man because you're helping probably a lot ,a lot of people. Thank you
hey, thank you so much!! my 2010 mariner shut down while daughter driving. all the symptoms you mentioned in video. after watching, I checked fuses and they looked fine. while waiting to borrow multimeter, I read comments. whoever mentioned corroded fuse port...thank you!! I looked at #5 and there appeared to be charred damage. barely noticeable, but there. I put a new 10 amp fuse in and the car started right up. I'll have to rewatch video to figure out why it blew. my pcm shows some corrosion similar to video, but not as extensive. regardless, this video saved me a lot of time and money. the two things most lacking in my life. btw, I found some replacement pcms on-line for ~$200-$300. I think replacement pcm will have to be programmed to my fobs...
Your a magician! I allways watch your videos when I have an issue with my truck. This diagnostic/walkthrough also applied to my 2010 f150 (obviously different locations the fueses etc..) but it worked like a charm.... Blown PCM Fuse! THANK YOU!
Thank you , my Ford Escape Hybrid 2010 with 354000 miles wouldn't start this morning, all the symptoms you show on your video I had. I followed your instructions and the first thing I did was to check the fuses, Fuse 29 was OK but Fuse # 5 was not. I replaced Fuse #5 (10amp) and my Escape was able to start. I plugged in my scanner to check for error codes but it only says lost connection to pcm and no codes are stored. The scanner connects well and it reads the pcm but no error codes. My Escape starts fine and no problems so far, I wonder what causes the fuse to blow out, I think maybe after 8 years and over 300000 miles something had to give. I don't smell electric short where you said to check, so if in case the problem comes back what do you suggest is causing it. Thanks again for your video it saved me from a expensive tow truck to the mechanic and who knows how much more to fix it. I have to say the Escape is an excellent car, I never had hybrid problems nor electric problems, the engine, transmission radiator, evaporator, condenser are still the original parts. I have changed the ABS module and of course axles, control arms, bushings, steering wheel assembly struts, shocks. What can I say I love my escape
Thank you very much, had this issue after coming back from a vacation and was extremely frustrated with it, after looking at the fuses the 10 Amp fuse was blown, so a quick 4 bucks later and she was running again, keep up the good work.
I need some information on the steps and procedures of replacing a pcm in a 2009 ford escape... I've put the new one in that already has the vin programmed to it.
The anti-theft light is blinking like you said. However, everything else seems to be connected and working correctly on the dash. It seems like everything is communicating. It shows all the mileage and everything else in the menu. Any suggestions?
Hey ford tech thanks buddy your video very detail but can i test the pin and fuse with one sided test light because with the test lighf if i put the end of test light to the negative of battery those pin will work and some dont and if i reverse the end of the test light to the positive all the pin was not working now works so am i testing it correct?
I had a problem with this system in a buddy's ford. This video was exactly the information I needed to troubleshoot the exact cause. Well done the information in this video was excellently delivered. Keep up the good work.
If the PCM goes bad, can it draw power from the battery over night in a ~7 hour time frame enough to drain all the power from the battery and unlock the driver's side door?
@fordtechmakuloco Does cleaning the corrosion off the PCM resolve the issue? Having the exact same problem. I may have missed it in the video since I don't know too much about engines but wasn't sure how to ultimately resolve the issue! thank you!
So, there was just a little Charing on the fuse connector for number five. In my comment below I mentioned how I put a new fuse in snd the car started up. But, the old fuse did not look bad. Any ideas? Car is running fine now, but just worried about my daughter driving it and having same thing happen. Of course, I have a couple of extra fuses in the glove box now.
Awesome video. Thanks so much. Actaully got fooled on this one. The 10A fuse tested okay but things still didn't work. When I went to take the fuse out it broke apart and one leg stayed stuck in. It seems to me that that fuse is susceptible to corrosion. Took awhile to dig the leg out and clean up the contact but that did it. Thanks again.
I was hoping this would show my issue but not really. I’ve got an 09 escape v6 and for one reason or another my radio and headlights keep coming on randomly through the night and when driving the climate controls will lose power radio display will go out, turn signals quit working,Fog lights quit working, all randomly then I take the steering column and move it up or down and everything will come back on same thing when it powers up at night the only things that come on are the headlights and the radio and door lock window switch lights and if you take the steering column and move it will shut the power down. I’ve never experienced this kind of gremlin in all my years of car ownership but of course with my first American car I’m running into all of these issues that seem to have no reason.
2005 ford escape v6 3.0 all started with a misfire, replaced PCM, aftermarket coil pack and sparkplugs. And now sometimes anti theft light flashes and it won't turn on and if it does drives for 10 or 15 minutes and then the overdrive light will be flashing and the transmission will not shift or shift very hard at high rpms. Do you think that the after market coils are causing all this trouble?
@FordTechMakuloco 2009 escape, ive gone thru you video multiple times just to be sure ive gone step by step. Ive done everything the way you broke it down, i have power and ground to the pins and also when i bypass the relay. PATS IS FAST FLASHING qhen key is turned to forward position. Im unable to get any communication with pcm via DLC. i have 12.8v at pin 16 and 2.5v at each CAN. I dont want to just replace the pcm and have the same issue, any direction would be appreciated. Thank you
Is there a means to remove that problem all together? I've been using a spare key on my car for a while now since the original was destroyed by a family member, but this problem only barely started and when i ask the guy that helps me fix it, he avoids answering that question I'm pretty sure he just wants me to keep coming back, but I can't keep having to take my car out just to mess with a few fuses and cables I'd like to know if there's a way to get rid of this problem all together
I got my 2010 Escape to start initially but when I got over 30 km an hour it hitched and lost power. eventually I was able to get it started again and the same thing happened the third time after about a half an hour I was able to get it started again and I drove it at 20 km an hour back to the mechanics and it was fine at that speed, what do you make of that?
This seems to be my problem with the antitheft light flashing but my fuses are intact, according to AutoZone mechanic testing and I do have an accurate reading on my "mileage to E" reading? Question is: if it is not the entire PCM what else could it be? In advance I thank you for the service you are providing, you by far are the most knowledgeable and easiest to understand, covering all Ford topics.
I hope you reply quick I need my car to start but my car is a 2008 edge will this video help me with this because this is exactly what's happening to my car
2010 Escape 4cy What if the cluster is not even coming on with the red security light on and the yellow wrench light on . This is an intermittent problem sometimes it just starts. But most times it doesn't. I've also noticed that the back hatch switch doesn't work when it won't start. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Any idea on why those bottom two connectors in the plug for the pcm would not have power on a 2012 mustang? I followed this same procedure and all other pins tested working including the relay for the pcm. But still no power to those two pins even with a jumper. Any idea where to look. Car has a no start no crank and pats light is flashing fast. Was in a accident but went through it before hand just can’t get it to get a communication signal from the pcm to the cluster or obd2 port. They are pins 67-68 on the plug closet to front end.
2011 I replaced the engine , installed new , crank position sensor, cam sensor, new complete key switch assembly, fuel pump , fuel pump relay assembly , spark plugs , starter is new. I have cranking of engine but no start. Check engine light flashes 7 times. The anti theft light comes on but goes off. It shows the key lock is closed in the lock position. Sometimes it shows it flashing but other times it's on buy goes right off. Transponder for keys is working.?
I have a 2010 Tribute that does this, also while driving, the cluster stops working, all lights come on and all gauges drop to zero. To correct both I tap on top of the dash, I don't have to hit it hard, just a firm tap. Would that still be PCM or something loose at the cluster?
Sir I have a 2007 Ford fusion and it's doing that --- where the mileage is and the anti-theft light flashes it did this before and I couldn't figure it out but it started after a couple of days but it happened again
different concern, similar problem my starter relay in the under hood junction box is not getting a signal to energize the coil. everything from the battery to the relay socket is in a known good condition, bypass the relay and starter cranks every time. only thing left in the circuit is the "starter relay diode" and PCM signal. i dont have a decent wiring chart for this side of the circuit. the info you have given for testing the PCM relay socket i am going to check next (new to me info) but i have no location or pin out info for the PCM signal to the starter relay. please help!
Good video! I have checked & replaced some of the relays and fuse to be on safe side. Plus when I checked the PCM module it was very dirty just like you show on the video. And I went to my local ford motor company parts and they told me I have to order PCM module on O'Reilly because they told me they don't carry older PCM module for older vehicles like 2009 I have. So a replacement PCM module came in 2 months ago. Sometimes I do 50/50 parts replaced by my self or by the dealer. Does Crankshaft position sensor have anything to do with not crank or start, I know everything is power by PCM from the battery.
2004 Ford Ranger..I am constantly having to reset the anti-theft alarm in order to start the vehicle. I usually disconnect the neg battery cable, Put the key in the on position, reconnect cable and start. that will work most of the time but sometime not so then I lock and unlock the doors, put the key in on position , leave, and come back 15-20 minutes later and it will start. I have already had this thing at a dealership and they charged me $200.00 to have it start without problem for 2 days and then same ole problem. Can I just take the damn thing off or something?
Wish u could help me get my 08 escape running fixed all sensors new throttle body and car just wont idle and on rainy days wont start at all it def has to be something with pcm
Hey man love your videos got a question. I had a pcm go bad in my 2011 f150. Got a used pcm and the key for that pcm done the transponder swap and my truck still won't start..... can u help?
ok so my customer has 08 MKZ just would not start 1 day but he had broken the blinker switch off 2 day b.for this happened and it was still starting..but is in theft lock now,,so could it be the blinker knob breakege that is causeing the issue..since it is fiber optic it looks like,,? as well it has code b1600 and p1260
This is happening on my 2011 Escape also, but is very intermittent, and there are no blown fuses. This will at times do the same dash stuff while driving but don't shut the car off. It hasn't left me stranded, I just wait a few minutes or just another cycle of the key and it will start. Ignition tumbler seems fine. weird shit.
Hi, I have a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac..it has no crank no start, I just bought a new ECM for it... wondering if you might have an idea why it won't start..any suggestions appreciated
I accidentally washed a load of clothes with the key with fob to a 2008 Ford Escape. Now the car will not crank and the security light is on in the dashboard. It was easy to open the fob to get to the battery. We replaced the battery in the fob but the key with fob does not crank the car. Do you have a recommendation? I was not able to open the fob beyond the battery area. The fob seems to have a section glued.
@FordTechMakuloco I have a 2008 Escape Hybrid with 2 keys/fobs. Recently one of the two keys stopped turning the engine on. The Theft Light flashes but the fob features all still work. I called my dealership and they said I have to bring it in to have a mechanic look and it will probably be $200+. Because one key still works, is there something I can try to fix the issue with the other key?
I have a 2009 Ford Taurus X. The anti-theft light is flashing slowly (like it was in the beginning of the video). I pulled the ignition fuse (because that's what I saw online in forums before I came to youtube) but it looks in tact. If the light is flashing slowly would it still be the PCM? Also, is this common to go w/o warning? I went to the car wash 3/11 and on 3/15 it didn't start (maybe it means nothing). Under the hood is pretty clean as well...I don't see any corrosion. Thanks in advance for your help and the great video!
I know this is a old video but we just had an escape in the shop for a long time and when I was going through everything I found the PCM to be bad. Ended up fixing both of those still a no-start condition and now seems like a potential cluster issue. Before before replacing the PCM I found 120 ohms of Resistance from the termination resistor in the cluster after replacing the PCM and programming got 60 ohms. Vehicle thought it was stuck in drive and other tests pointed to range sensor replaced it and same results. Would love to pick someone brain about this problem to avoid other techs from using a parts Cannon on this.
Hello, and thank you for the video. Question I have a Ford Focus manufactured in 2007.... should I be concerned with this identical No Start Theft Light Flashing... I just replaced the battery, after purchase of the vehicle four month ago. Mileage: 100124; Thanks again!
My 12 focus does the one horn beep when turning of the car, also a periodic no turn over for 3seconds. The car when turned to start will not turn over until key is released to the run position. This problem happens not all the time. Did notice when this issue is present the blowermotor will delay coming on. Ford dealer not sure why.
Hey I have a 2002 ford explorer 4.0 I was driving down the road stopped a store . got back in explorer and went on down the road and it just shut off and the key won't start it back up all lights come on Windows go up and down radio comes on fan works . it just won't start up . have good battery and starter I am lost here
If you turn the key on and don't hear the fuel system pressure pump priming. You either lost power to the pump or burned the pump up from running out of gas. Fuel pumps require gas to stay cool.
Good to hear. All the ones I repaired are caused from running out of gas and they keep trying to start it. In the end the pump burns out and there not cheap to replace.
I have the same issue but it on a 2003 ford expedition i have checked all the fuses and all of them are good i've disconnected the neg and tried to clean the pcm like you did on the another video and still no luck.
I have this exact problem, tested everything as in the video. I get communication with the PCM when the jumper is installed and it will run. Put the rely back in and I get the flashing security light and no communication with the PCM. I swapped and replace and replaced the rely but still no go. I also replaced the transceiver hoping that was it but no luck. Anything else I can check?
If I broke my key on my 2012 Ford Focus could that be a reason it’s not starting with no crank. I also have that theft light flashing when I try to start it as well!
I really appreciate what you are doing for others, your instructions helped me find out why my 2009 Escape would not turn over, you really did! as I concentrated on your instructions about "Grounds" I did as you instructed, my fuses were not blown, PCM checked out OK, Plenty of battery power, so I checked for other grounds before the PCM and guest what, there it was right before my eyes some little animal had got into my engine compartment and chewed right through the 2 ground wires on the back firewall, after finding this it took 15 minuets to fix, and my Escape started like a champ. the ground wires are easy to find because it's located right by the P.C.M. 1 jumper feeding 2 separate grounds, The nice thing about this fix the cost = 0.00 Dollars. Thanks
Hi there man thanks for ur very helpful videos, and I have a question, I have a 08 Ford Edge that I replaced the heater core so I had to remove the entire dashboard off the vehicle and I disconnected the battery and stayed like that for a night then the next day put everything back together and now the vehicle it's doing exactly like u showing in this video that u showed it only clicks the starter relay but won't engage the starter at all I have a good starter and juicy battery but also I noticed that the security light it's staying on even when the key is in the ignition switch on it won't go away so what do u think it happened here , can u advice me please if u don't mind ,
Need help .... Same problema with 16 code on cluster, but i did check fuses and relays beside all these points on third conector to pcm.. but everything is ok. 16 code still blinking and i get nothing
We just got a used 2006 ford escape hybrid a week ago. The tgeft light began flashing and now it wont start even after charging the battery. What do we do?
My 08 Escape XLT had this once a couple of months ago, but then it sort of self-corrected when I got it started and let the lights in the cluster, odometer and tachometer cycle on and off several times. Then the vehicle was drivable with no issues for about 7-8 weeks. Then last week, it all happened again and I couldn't get it to self-correct. Since you suggested that about 90% of the time, the problem is a corroded PCM, I decided to order a refurbished unit that comes programmed to my VIN. Once it arrives, I'll still have to have a locksmith reprogram my keys. Hopefully, this will correct the problem.
Hey I know this is an old video, but I'm having a similar problem in my daughter's Mariner & I'm wondering what you think.... She has the 4-button Key fob with the attached blade. If the key goes into the ignition with the buttons facing the driver, the theft light flashes & it rarely ever starts. If the key goes in the ignition with the buttons toward the windshield, it starts just fine. I tried to program some new keys with Forscan but that didn't work (maybe because I bought them on amazon instead of a key shop?)
I have a 06 ford escape 3.0l i have 1 coil that isn't fireing the coil is good i check ths power sorse to the coil and there isn't any from the pcm to th coil can someone please tell me what my problem is. Thanks
So if the antitheft blinks when car is off is it normal ? I have to jump start mine and runs fine .I had battery ,alternator, and starter checked and is fine. They did say battery is good but needs to be charged ..
I had this problem on my Ford Escape. The Dealership did their troubleshooting and said it was the instrument cluster, cost $650. I watched your video 3 times and based on what your troubleshooting showed, I disagreed with Ford. They wouldn't troubleshoot any further until I agreed to replace the instrument cluster. So I took the car to a different shop (not Ford) and they too said it was the instrument cluster, however they agreed to replace the PCM since I was paying for it. They were surprised that the PCM solved the problems. I wanted to say thanks to you for a really excellent video that has been extremely useful and has saved me a lot of cash. Good job.
I have a 2008 escape hybrid that just crapped out on me this morning. I unlocked it to put my stuff in it, unlocked fine, and when I went to turn it on, it wouldn't start, I tried the lock button and that no longer worked either. We tried to jump it from the flatbed tow truck and still nothing. Does it sound like it has the same issue to you or something else? Thanks for the help bro
2009 Ford Escape Hybrid...my symptoms were exactly this ,no start intermittently, while driving dashlight cluster would turn on and shut off randomly....checked the negative battery terminal connection to the body. I grinded the point of contact to take all the paint off and made contact points shiny metal....problem solved! THANK YOU!
I recently had to replace the pcm on my 2010 escape..had to have dealer reprogram for pats communication. but now the factory radio wont work from the dash, the steering wheel controls work, but not well and can hear it..what do you think caused this ??
Quick question, any insight would be super helpful!!! I have an 08 F350, was a 6.4 but I am finishing up a cummins conversion. I hooked the engine harness and batteries back up, and inserted the key and PATS locked down. I realized that I failed to connect the engine harness to the body harness that includes the CAN bus wires. I also failed to reconnect the engine bay fuse box ground back up. I believe my failure to do these two things caused the PATS lock. I have covered all bases and every ground is connected, body harness on driver spring tower is connected properly, trailer control harness all undamaged, etc. When I turn key in ignition, the cluster shows the actual miles as well. Still have the consistent rapid flash security light. I think I am back to normal, but I need to get the PATS unlocked. Is there any way to do this without hauling the truck to a dealership? Thanks!
Hello from Mexico. I have a problem with my 2005 escape starter is heard but not lit, turn off when you pass a cap and subsequently has not turned so far , I hope I can say the possible failures that and not turn ..thank Regards. and excuse my English =)
I have a 2008 Expedition doing similar, turn to start and does nothing. Anti theft is flashing. However distance to empty is calculating. Looked at the fuse box identification panel and no fuse or relay is "named" anti theft. Throttle plate sweep works.
the question was asked below by EricK... what was resolution? about 5:45 in video you are showing the 'old' pcm, so seems that you may have replaced the PCM. what all does that entail beyond removal/install?... any special programming? does it have to be done at a dealer or service station?
bshowto what i found is pcm has to be programmed to vin, plug and play after that. If you have pats then keys may (probably) have to be reprogrammed (dealership/locksmith)
I did a big 3 upgrade and now i got no start ,just clicking ,, I checked all fuses inside and out ,none are blown , I switched relay around to see if it was the starter ,and it still did nothing ,ohh its a 08 Ford escape. Do you think it could be the pcm ?
my fuses looked fine too. but, I replaced #5 10 amp anyway and car started right up. there was a little corrosion in the fuse connector port. worth a try.
Have a 2008 ford edge. Car was running fine, after replacing the evaporator core the pcm has no communication, flashing security light and no start. Checked fuses, relays, but connector to pcm is a bit different. Please help!!
Thank you for your videos man.I tried doing the throttle plate test on my 2007 Escape and I heard nothing. I have a crank no start ,spark after changing my coils out with aftermarket ones.. If you can give me your input I would appreciate it.
I am getting the exact same blinking light (red light with a car and a lock) but my car radio, lights etc work but it won't start, it make a weird noise, then lights start blinking, it is a 2013 expedition? Would I need to use the same method?
Can you please help me with my Ford Escape 2011 hybrid it is not turning on nor no dashboard light coming on either. As I keep turning the key to turn it on it has started showing me airbag light only when I kept turn the key hope u can help. Thanks
Same issue with my 2011 escape 6cyl.Fuse 29 and 5 blown. When i test 5 pin in on right i can hear relay click and low power on test light. Please advise to posible cause/ correction. Replaced the pcm 11/2 yrs ago with used and reprogrammed.
hey bud i have a 2007 AWD escape non hybrid 4 cyl. I have the same issue but the only way i can start it is when i play with the wires. I kno its a bad connection in one of the wires but for the life of me i cant find out which one.... any help?
I know this is an old question now, but the PCM is super easy to install. Its literally the 2 bolts, one on each side, and the 3 large connectors you see in this video. It just slides right out. The problem is that the PCM needs to be programed to the rest of the car, which requires Ford computers. The other issue is that you can't find these PCMs new, manufactured, or anything outside of the dealership or scrap yards. If you get a PCM from a scrap yard, you still have to get the dealer to program it, and they may be unwilling to do so, it really depends how nice they want to be.
My problem is I've check every fuse and even sanded them and or replaced any ones that looked bad i have check all grounds and sanded the body paint off the car and cleaned up the connection < my symptoms are flashing antitheft , and obd2 communication, it is a 2008 ford escape xlt v6 , i have followed your instructions to a tee , do i just have a bad computer
Hi would you consider a job in the UK? I've a dead F350 with the Powerstroke diesel and it's done exactly the same thing. No signal from the pcm I'm told. I've been told it may never run again !!! is this true ? can you help ? would you help?
Hi Brian, nice video, very clear and easy to follow. I have a 2009 Ford Flex, hoping you can help me get it running again. The battery died when the liftgate remained open all night. My husband replaced the battery but the car still will not crank. Does not turn over at all. Lights all come on and the anti theft icon flashes normally not at hyper speed. I have tried to reset key fobs with online instructions without success. Any ideas or suggestions on what else it could be? Today when I entered the car there were 4 icons illuminated including the battery, the engine, oil and seatbelt. They were lit up even though I had not put key in ignition or attempted to start car. Later they went out but upon entering the car again, they light up and the engine light started blinking for a few seconds then became solid lit.
Will it work on Ford Escape 2005? Theft light is blinking but it can start and I got a new key and reprogrammed it but theft light is still blinking. Thanks
The distance to empty isn't black because it's low on fuel? My car, not a Ford, does that at about 30 miles to empty and the needle is about where yours is. Just a thought.
Hey I’m having a problem i have a 03 Ford F-150 single cab with a cluster that doesn’t have the rpm reader so I went to the junkyard and purchased a cluster with a rpm reader from a 99 Ford F-150 and when I plugged everything in the theft light I flashing rapidly and the truck just cranks over but no start then when I plug in the cluster that was on my truck before it starts up no problem but I really want the rpm reader so if u can please help me I really appreciate it
What are other issue it could be. I have the same problem with my 2008 Ford escape. It seems to happen only first thing in the morning when it's cold the km till empty is showing up on mine. Can yeah give any suggestions?
I have a 05ford escape car was running fineturn the car off when I went to turn it back on there was nothing no dash lights nothing so I took the ignition apart manually turn the switch but when I put the peace in the switch dash lights up and everything but will not turn over
Good info on all videos. Have a 09 escape hybrid just bought. Sat for 2-3 months. Will not crank and no start. Changed battery everything comes on but no crank and no start. Around rear battery lots of oxidation dust caked and hard 1/8" thick everywhere. Was told it was driven there but can't be verified. It should crank and start, if told the truth? Next step? Only 55,000 miles hard to diagnose. May have to order hybrid battery replacement if necessary. Best way to check back battery for beginner.
Guys I can see water is the problem but Im not sure what to do because many people try to do a plastic cover or seal in the area where is the PCM under the winshield but still have issues ..Im not sure what to do because when is wet seems to have the antithef ligth and the the area where is the miles is blank with dashes so is not comunicating and fuse and relay were changed
I have the same problem with my 1999 ford expedition, constant theft light flashing. Do you know the steps to take to check on this familiar problem on the expo?
Thank you for what you guys do! My car just quit in the middle of town and indicated the PCM issues and I watched your video. Fuse 5 was pretty corroded, and I replaced with the spare 10A fuse from the passenger compartment (spot 33) and it did the trick. I have a 2009 Ford Escape.
Hello. I've watched your video and tried everything you suggested including the jump wire. I heard the "throttle" kick on as you said when I plugged in the pcm. However, I still have the issue of the security lock light flashing rapidly when I try to start the vehicle. The miles to empty is calculating correctly. When I turn the key fully to attempt to start the 2009 Escape, all it does is click loud enough for me to hear it inside the truck. Just a simple click. Sounds like its coming from the area of where the pcm is in the firewall, but I could be wrong. Please....any help or suggestions?? Don't have a lot of $$ to work with. I appreciate Your help. Thank You so very much.
Did you ever get this fixed?
Your a magician! I allways watch your videos when I have an issue with my truck. This diagnostic/walkthrough also applied to my 2010 f150 (obviously different locations the fueses etc..) but it worked like a charm.... Blown PCM Fuse! THANK YOU!
Great video. Immediately identified my issue related to fuse PCM. I’ll check fuse 5 & 29.
This guy is so knowledgeable on Fords
He has helped me on several occasions. I thank him.
How do you test the pins? Is the positive leaf going in the pin and then are you putting the ground lead on the chassis?
So I have a blinking security light, zero dash lights no chime and no one communication, new battery, still does the sweep when pcm relay is bypassed
I may have missed it in the video since I don't know too much about engines but wasn't sure how to ultimately resolve the issue! thank you!
Erik K i think the corrosion outside is signaling issues inside on the circuit board which is ultimately the shorting issue blowing the fuses
H Zach, I had same problem and *Cyber_kor* on Instagram helped rectify mine. He is a great champ!. He is also on WhatsApp + 1 347 830 3644
I've been using a spare key on my car for a while now since the original was destroyed by a family member, but this problem only barely started and when i ask the guy that helps me fix it, he avoids answering that question
I'm pretty sure he just wants me to keep coming back, but I can't keep having to take my car out just to mess with a few fuses and cables
I'd like to know if there's a way to get rid of this problem all together
2010 Escape 4cy
What if the cluster is not even coming on with the red security light on and the yellow wrench light on . This is an intermittent problem sometimes it just starts. But most times it doesn't. I've also noticed that the back hatch switch doesn't work when it won't start. Any ideas would be appreciated.
08 escape limited- flashing anti theft light but it’s still showing the mileage numbers on dash. Does that mean the PCM can be ruled out then?
Brian Thorpe I have the same issue but by tapping it lightly they go back to normal did you ever figure out what the issue is?
The main power going out to the PCM under the relay should it be hot because I'm not getting anything on a 2009 Escape Hybrid thanks
Very good question!! Will wait for the answer.
What did u find wrong with yours?
Wish u could help me get my 08 escape running fixed all sensors new throttle body and car just wont idle and on rainy days wont start at all it def has to be something with pcm
If the fuses are good is the pcm that’s messed up? And have to replace the pcm?
Ignition tumbler seems fine. weird shit.
Same
Hi, I have a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac..it has no crank no start, I just bought a new ECM for it... wondering if you might have an idea why it won't start..any suggestions appreciated
After a new hey 👋there did you fine a answer to your problem pls share. Wish I had the answer to your question
Would a PCM affect your acceleration off a red light or stop sign?
Could just be transmission fluid?
I have a 2009 Ford Escape
My 12 focus does the one horn beep when turning of the car, also a periodic no turn over for 3seconds. The car when turned to start will not turn over until key is released to the run position. This problem happens not all the time. Did notice when this issue is present the blowermotor will delay coming on. Ford dealer not sure why.
Hey I have a 2002 ford explorer 4.0 I was driving down the road stopped a store . got back in explorer and went on down the road and it just shut off and the key won't start it back up all lights come on Windows go up and down radio comes on fan works . it just won't start up . have good battery and starter I am lost here
michael kurtz Fuel pressure?
If you turn the key on and don't hear the fuel system pressure pump priming. You either lost power to the pump or burned the pump up from running out of gas. Fuel pumps require gas to stay cool.
Main fuse for the PCM was junck
Is your problem solved or not?
Thanks
Did the same but found my hot wires are shorted to ground going to have fun looking for that
Hi there man thanks for ur very helpful videos, and I have a question, I have a 08 Ford Edge that I replaced the heater core so I had to remove the entire dashboard off the vehicle and I disconnected the battery and stayed like that for a night then the next day put everything back together and now the vehicle it's doing exactly like u showing in this video that u showed it only clicks the starter relay but won't engage the starter at all I have a good starter and juicy battery but also I noticed that the security light it's staying on even when the key is in the ignition switch on it won't go away so what do u think it happened here , can u advice me please if u don't mind ,
One year ago no answer our friend making the videos is so busy 😪
I have this issue with my escape however the mileage to empty shows as numbers. is that a different diagnosis?
Need help .... Same problema with 16 code on cluster, but i did check fuses and relays beside all these points on third conector to pcm.. but everything is ok. 16 code still blinking and i get nothing
We just got a used 2006 ford escape hybrid a week ago. The tgeft light began flashing and now it wont start even after charging the battery. What do we do?
Same thing just happened to my sister, Did you ever solve it?
I have a 2008 F250 XLT
I’m experiencing the same problems fuses are good.
What are the powers and grounds I should see at the PCM connector?
I have a 06 ford escape 3.0l i have 1 coil that isn't fireing the coil is good i check ths power sorse to the coil and there isn't any from the pcm to th coil can someone please tell me what my problem is. Thanks
Will the powers and grounds be the same on a 08 f150 5.4? The pcm looks about the same.
So if the antitheft blinks when car is off is it normal ?
I have to jump start mine and runs fine .I had battery ,alternator, and starter checked and is fine.
They did say battery is good but needs to be charged ..
Yes a slow blink rate is normal
Thanks I changed battery lets see if it doesnt need a jump tomorrow..They told me everything was good just needed a charge ..
Good job.
slingwing999
how did u program the new pcm?
I apologize for my ignorance but what tool are you using to test the voltage and to bypass
Standard multimeter.
@@FordTechMakuloco I’m having trouble with my ford 09 escape
@@FordTechMakuloco its making the same thing that like the one on your video
I have 2009 mariner hybrid car 🔐 start blinking you thing need key fog program??
the question was asked below by EricK... what was resolution? about 5:45 in video you are showing the 'old' pcm, so seems that you may have replaced the PCM. what all does that entail beyond removal/install?... any special programming? does it have to be done at a dealer or service station?
bshowto what i found is pcm has to be programmed to vin, plug and play after that. If you have pats then keys may (probably) have to be reprogrammed (dealership/locksmith)
I did a big 3 upgrade and now i got no start ,just clicking ,,
I checked all fuses inside and out ,none are blown ,
I switched relay around to see if it was the starter ,and it still did nothing ,ohh its a 08 Ford escape.
Please help!!
good job. How to find KAP pin in ford Escape 2006 2.3L?
Thank you for your videos man.I tried doing the throttle plate test on my 2007 Escape and I heard nothing. I have a crank no start ,spark after changing my coils out with aftermarket ones.. If you can give me your input I would appreciate it.
Same car year and problem I changed the starter thinking it was that but still nothing. Did you find out what the problem was with your car
I am getting the exact same blinking light (red light with a car and a lock) but my car radio, lights etc work but it won't start, it make a weird noise, then lights start blinking, it is a 2013 expedition? Would I need to use the same method?
Thanks, this video saved a trip to the dealer for my mother in laws car. Been searching for a week to diagnose 2 minutes in and problem solved.
is a good idea to check a +5v reference to the injectors to confirm if the pcm is signal?
I kno its a bad connection in one of the wires but for the life of me i cant find out which one.... any help?
I am having trouble getting a Ford dealership to believe this. How hard are PCM's to install? Do they take special programming?
I know this is an old question now, but the PCM is super easy to install. Its literally the 2 bolts, one on each side, and the 3 large connectors you see in this video. It just slides right out. The problem is that the PCM needs to be programed to the rest of the car, which requires Ford computers. The other issue is that you can't find these PCMs new, manufactured, or anything outside of the dealership or scrap yards.
If you get a PCM from a scrap yard, you still have to get the dealer to program it, and they may be unwilling to do so, it really depends how nice they want to be.
I cleaned the ground cables scrapped the paint off the surface its bolted to. It is talking to the pcm, no blown fuses still no luck
Hey did you ever figure out wat it was I just got this truck and it won’t start
No it is not.
I have a 05ford escape car was running fineturn the car off when I went to turn it back on there was nothing no dash lights nothing so I took the ignition apart manually turn the switch but when I put the peace in the switch dash lights up and everything but will not turn over
2008 has a different plug are they the same wiring order ?
mine doesn't have this issue but what can i do not to help prevent it?
+John Breland First check the pcm diode and pcm relay inputs and outputs at the battery junction block.
FordTechMakuloco I'm having the same issue with my 2000 explorer. Do you have a video showing how to check the pcm on older models?
can you tell how to disable service/valet on 2011 escape ? thanks
Martin Yost I had the same issue on a 2008 fusion 3.0, I switched to my spare key (which was never used) and a new key fob battery. Now it works..
