FIREFLY GUITAR'S are such a deal for the price. I'll be opening up a New store in Seattle in August ( next month ) selling FIREFLY GUITAR'S for $250 set-up with new light gauge strings, bone nut, and a gig bag, AND We will have the New FFSG transparent Blue 🔵
I own a few Firefly guitars. Instead of changing the pickups, change the magnet. They come with what appears to be ceramic. I changed them to Alnico 2 & 5's. $2 instead of $20+. To make the fret board look better, get some medium to dark walnut oil. It will leave the red but darken the overall color. Makes it look nicer than it really is.
I bought y Firefly on a whim, got it used from a guy who did not like it. Wanted to see what kind of sound I could get out of it. So I raised the action, put heavy strings on it and tuned it to open A tuning. Played with a glass or ceramic slide and ran through a orange crush amp, this thing sounds awesome, from warm tones, to I may be killing a demon tones. Love it and am looking for another to keep in open G.
I own plenty of high end instruments and absolutely love playing my Firefly. The gold finish I have is pretty badass. All I did to the instrument was a very good setup, new strings and a Duncan JB in the bridge. It sounds amazing. Absolutely worth $139. Best value guitar out there. From the factory though....the fret board needed several rounds of lemon oil cleaning.
On mine instead of replacing the whole pickups I just replaced the magnets of the original pick-ups with AlNiCo one.For a few bucks I had a massive improvement. For Blues I'd recommend A3 neck A2 or A5 on the bridge (A5 if you like twang) For Rock A5 neck and A5 or A8 on the bridge (A8 if you like faster attack)
I got the blueburst 338. Awesome instrument. All stock. Love it. Only thing I'd change is the tuners. Don't hold your breath waiting for the pots to fail. Will be a few years.
@@bbkingisg.o.a.t7807 I haven't changed anything. I didn't even do any set up. It plays just fine right out of the box as I need it. Very clean. Perfect for jazz and some soft rock Ballad and sounds really smooth through overdrive pedals and channels. I'll probably change the tuners to something more sensitive. Maybe a 1:18 so I can get better tuning stability and the input jack to something that locks in better but other than that everything stays until something goes bad.
I am now contemplating taking out the microphonick pick-ups that came in my Firefly and replace them with Roswell brand new pick-ups that came in my Harley Benton cst-24t. I also have a set ofWilkinson tuners that I bought for it but I'm a put those on the Harley Benton.
This post is pretty old but I'm hoping that I'll get some feedback. Am in the process of trying to figure out whether to buy one or not. I have a set of Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates that would fit but would it sound good in a 335 style. mine are currently in a LP style guitar that doesn't get used.. thanks for your input if anyone actually reads it...
People dog on why people spend $ & time upgrading,*** hey Gibson snobs, it's fun,n experience!!,I bought a choice products 335 copy(, made in same Firefly factory) you do same upgrades I do,I make bone nut,set up,I have parts bin,put zebra pickups n ,it's a tone machine under $180. Can't beat it. Pretty versatile too..thnx for sharing your preferences...

Absolutely not a great value guitar. They look nice, that’s where it ends.
Love listening to you playing the blues Ronald Jr!
You could put in that guitar a piezo pickup for acoustic play.

These newer Firefly 335s pickups are wax potted and no longer microphonic. Looks like they are listening to people's complaints.
I bought two of them and one came with a snapped in half neck but they replaced it in less then a week. My grandson and I love them.
The one that came broke was shipped in a single box and now they are putting two boxes over them.
got mine today,its amazing

Grover makes a great 10mm tuner(kluson style) $40! I put them on all of my Firefly338's

Hey man thanks for the video. Which Gotoh bridge did you use? I don’t think I heard it on the video. Thanks and keep the reviews coming!
Which tuners did you decide on? Thanks!
I have a Blue Burst FF338, and wanted to Know what Pickups you used.. Thanks!
I used guitar madness humbucker sized p 90
FYI - amazon just restocked Fireflys - 4 colors
Forgive me if I missed it, but can you tell me about how much you invested in this guitar in parts, etc. (obviously not including labor)? Thanks!
Do the facial contortions make better tone? 😄
Can you tell us what parts you used and the total cost of upgrading this Guitar? Thanks!
Are these acoustic electric? Or just electric ? I want to be able to play without an amp.
It's May 2021 those $140 guitars are now $159 from Guitars Garden.
I paid $189 for my Firefly LP in June, 2021. $209 delivered.
Yes, they are selling them for $189 and the triple pickup for $199 unshipped.
By the time you upgraded the stuff, you might have been better off buying the Harley Benton model which IMO is a better upfront model.
mrlionel1965 agreed
cool but i'll keep my vsb AS 73.
I bought a Firefly copy from China. I realize it's not a real Firefly but it was cheap.
You bought a Chinese made firefly? I am pretty sure all of them are made in China. LOL
A firefly is a firefly they are a cheap copy of a Gibson 335....
You told us "what" you did, but you didn't show us "how" you did it. 🤔
If you go back on my channel there are step by step videos over 70% of my subs said they don’t wanna see a repeat just get to the point I do apologize
