Thank you Horst for your movie and posting it. I am builder and owner of the engine ( and its flying yellow-white test bench)To answer some of your questions: OF COURSE the engine will be in a Warbird next. It has now about 50 flying hours without a single fault, except problems with the first ignition. I designed a redundant ignition system now with 4 Independent coils and electronics, These early problem should be sorted out for good. That's why I test the engine in a Trainer. Next to come is a Focke Wulff FW 190 D9 in 3,4 scale (3,1 m wingspan, 3 m long)And yes, one day there will be a V6 engine of the same design, the cast parts are already in my shopCheers Detlef
Detlef Kunkel _Thanks for the additional information, Detlef !_ 😎
Keep testing if it brings the V6 closer to operational status.
Detlef Kunkel nice sounding engine! Wow I could listen to it without watching it fly! Great work and beautiful too!
Detlef Kunkel all I can say is well done and has a cool sound, keep up the good work and I'll bet the V6 will sound even better ...
Much respect!
Thanks so much for not putting some shitty music on this video drowning out the sound of that awesome engine.
Afterburner _The only music I want to hear on my videos is the one of the engine._
*Thank you for watching and commenting!*
second. Id rather listen to the distant engine and wind noise than some lame music. super dope engine starts up like a champ!
I thought he was crazy taking off in that wind! Finally got it down with no damage. What a beautiful engine. I agree, stick that baby into a P-51D airframe, they would be perfect for each other!
Thank you for your kind comment which I really appreciate.
The last updated version of the Phoenix engine will take place in a FW-190 D version.
As soon as it will be ready I will upload a new video.
Horst, that is a superb piece of miniature engineering and beautifully made as well. Thanks for posting, and yes, the pilot did an excellent job flying through that very strong wind. Cheers, Dougal
That engine is just plain awesome. I would love to see it in a war bird. You guys did a fantastic job!
exceptionally good engineering with an outstanding result! - congratulations
What a beauty and the sound was amazing, can't wait to see this beauty in a FW 190,the mouth waters. ;-)
Thanks for sharing as always.
The motor is outrageous. Nice flight and a beautiful aircraft. Thanks for posting.
My father was a tool and die maker and he would have loved the end result of all the hard work put into this motor....congratulations on an outstanding job Detlef
Wow! What an engine, what a builder! I read that the final destination for this engine is a Focke-Wulf Fw190 and I can think of no better home. The engine is so beautiful it should never be covered by a cowl. Thanks for making a great video to share this engineering accomplishment. Thumbs up to everyone! 👍👍
Cheers, Bob 😎
I dissagree.. sorry. FW 190 should have a radial 5 cyl. Moki and this in an ME 109 That i can agree to. ;))
@@Romin.777 Yeah seems like an odd choice. Fw-190D perhaps, that would suit better.
That engine on a go kart would be the pinnacle of cool. Some peoples talent blows my mind👍
One of the coolest looking motors I've ever seen. Great job, Detlef Kunkel.
Superb effort Detlef....talent like this enables the engineering community to hold their heads high.
A 4 stroker, that is one insane piece of engineering work! WOW! Extremely impressive!
Only passion, talent and time can make such an impressive thing. Much respect to the builder, this plane sounds and flys awesome !!
*_thank you for your kind comment !!!_*
Incredible! And again, thankyou for not putting crappy music to this. The sound is awonderful!
She sounds wonderful...great blue sky as a background. A challenging landing no doubt but it was done nicely in that wind. Thanks for sharing that bird with us.
Thank you for your kind comment. Much appreciated !!!
Amazing plane and engine. Props to the guy shooting the video, great job!!!
Thank you so much. Glad you enjoyed the flight. 🤙😎
You guys have taken RC planes to a different dimension and your own engine, AWESOME !
Amazing, the sound is amazing, spectacular, thanks for the video. Congratulation to Detlef Kunkel for his engine.
Shaver racing engines along with scat made a v4 205ci methanol engine that I ran for years in my dirt midget, the sound is absolutely unbelievable. As is this plane ;) fantastic job
I love how that sounds and fly's. Beautiful aircraft.
Pulsejet Lover _Thank you for your kind comments!_
RCScaleAirplanes Thank you for great content.
WOW!!! Love that engine. A closeup of the engine looks like a real full-scale engine for a crop duster.
Sounds awesome, and it cuts through the high wind very well too.
Loved watching this engine come together on RCSB, and of course his other models... a modeler apart!
WOW, what an accomplishment. Thank you for this video!
Great sounding Engine, Thanks Horst for sharing big thumbs up..Tim
FANTASTIC!!
What a phenomenal engine and a home built engine?!? MAD CRAZY SKILLS!!
And the landing in high winds tells the story of a EXCELLENT and accomplished piloting skills as well!!
Congratulations, Sir, on a Job Well Done!!
Color me envious!!!!
_Thank you for your kind comment. Yes ... that engine is awesome!_ 👍😉
Köszönöm ezt csodálatos bemutatót !
I am feeling a bit 'tongue-tied'. Awe-struck. Detlef, I have seen hand-made engines running on stands many times and imagined them powering a model airplane. Now, here is yours, perhaps the most impressive of them all, actually in an airframe and performing masterfully; with an incomparable sound. That it is flying in a testbed makes perfect sense. I'm glad that I became aware of your effort at this relatively early stage of development and look forward to seeing your V-6 and your engine gracing other airframes. I am a child of the 'space-race'. I have loved aviation and modelling from the time of hand-launch gliders, rubber-powered tissue models, control-line and single-channel r-c with 134 v dry-cell tube transmitters. I have followed the hobby for almost 50 years now, mostly from afar. I just want you to know what great admiration I have for what you have done and are doing. If it were in my power, the whole world would be able to share my appreciation and joy for your accomplishment and inspiration. In my 'perfect world,' there would be award-wining documentaries detailing what you and have accomplished and what were the 'causes and conditions' that supported you.I would hope that others might come to understand and appreciate how to develop the curiosity, attention, effort and confidence to excell in whatever inspires them.
Hi Peter, thank you very much for your compliments and your appreciation. it is very motivating when someone really recognizes the effort behind such a project. And you are right, this engine was never made to just run on a bench. It was intended from the beginning to power some huge warbird, and creat this unique sound. Once again, thank you!
To say I'm impressed is a gross understatement.
Absolutely magnificent. No need to apologize for the wind, it takes a skilled and confident builder to take their pride and joy out on an obviously windy day to test their creation. You know you have a beast of a motor when you need a gear reduction transmission. And that "flying test bench" is one heck of an airplane. Can't wait to see more test runs and then see it in it's final home. Looks like a modified blower belt pushing that prop. I've been in the hobby/sport for going on forty five years and have never seen anything like it. Is she something you may put on the market, or at least her plans. If not , I understand, she is your baby and I will content myself to admire from afar. My '62 VW only had 35 HP. LOL Thank you for posting and God Bless from Florida.
That is a thing of absolute beauty and poetry - I am awestruck!
Thanks ... Glad you like it. 👍😉
Congratulations to the owner of this magnificent machine.Well done to all the great work you have done, and all those people that helped you on the way.The motor was awesome and certainly beautiful. It was a pleasure to watch it fly.Thankyou for sharing.
Thank you very much! 👍😉
What skill and craftsmanship.Love that distinct V sound.
This engine sound is music for my ears !! well done.
Thank you for your kind comment. Much appreciated !!!
Fantastic model, ingenious engine construction with great sound and much power. Congrats!
Detlef Kunkel did an amazing job..i can only imagine the work it took to get it to this stage.....I love the way the Germans are so passionate about their RC and are world leaders at it......they amaze me. I worked in Nixdorf computers when I was a young man and everything the Germans do is like clockwork...great discipline....why am I not surprised this guy made this piece of art. It makes the plane look out of place :)....has to go into a warbird.
Thank you for your great comment which I really appreciate.
The newest V4 goes into a large Messerschmitt Bf 109 ... not sure when it will be ready.
So neat with the nav and landing lights. Beautiful engine, sounds like a '32 Ford V flat-head.
Sounds amazing!!!
_THANKS !!!_
RCScaleAirplanes Hello, I am wondering what oil you run in this engine, as well as what type of fuel? It seems this would be an ideal application for a full castor or castor/ester blended racing oil, with short oil change intervals. I apologize in advance if the answers are obvious, but I'm new to RC two and four stroke engines as well as castor lubricating oils. I love this engine by the way.
Lemon Coke _Sorry for my late reply._
You might ask Detlef. His post is pinned at the top of the comments.
*Thank you for watching and commenting!*
Very impressive engine. Congratulations and well done to the builder.
It's got a nice sound to it and flies well in the wind. I especially like the belt drive as it looks like a blower
Just seen this video, great work on the engine. Ever thought of making a scale Merlin. Thanks for this 👍🏻
_Thank you for your kind comment !!!_ 😎👍
I give you credit flying in that wind. Beautiful job with the bird.
_Thank you for your kind comment !!!_
A beautiful engine. Well done on such a fantastic project!
Great sounding engine! Superb manipulation of the controls! You are to be congratulated, sir.
I'm just going to say that is by far the coolest thing I have seen in a long time, beautiful work, sounds great and is some of the nicest machine work.my hat is off to you sir a perfect 10 🤗
What an awesome sound that beautiful motor makes, very nice work.
Thanks to Detlef's turbulator I have two great running Moki 215's. I have not personally met him but, through communications, he is a great guy. Hey Detlef, I got a Moki 257 and it is a marvelous engine! Tom from US.
Hi Tom, Thanks for the kind words. Nice to hear from You. Small world this is .-) I still wonder why you no not fly a Phoenix engine (yet) :-)
Looks and sounds fantastic, great work!
One of the best home built engines I have ever seen. Absoloutly beautiful detail.
Ron, thank you very much
Ronald, Thank you Sir :-)
What a beauty, it looks so crisp, perfect build 10 out of 10
_THNAKS !!!_
Excellent engineering, I wish I had skills like that.Well done
Wow! Very nice plane and engine! Love the sound and performance of it!
_Thank you for your great comment!_ 😉👍
Absolument pharaonique
Un v4 en modélisme du travail de spécialiste passionnés
Sounds amazing!
I normally don't care for rc planes without a cowl cover the engine, but it would be a crime to cover that beauty up. It sounds great too.
Awesome !! I love the engine sounds
Awesome job on this project, love the sound
Thanks a lot. Glad you enjoyed it. 👍😎
The sound of this engine is unbelievable!! Great work!!
looks great!, sounds great!. Really a big and awesome job!
That's The Best Flying Duccati I've Ever Heard or Seen! That Sounds A'flippin'mazing! And Powered Through That Wind So Easily! Orders For These Are Going To Skyrocket! ✈🇺🇸
_Thank you for your kind comment, which I really appreciate !_ 👍🏼
忙
This engine run well and sound good!..Nice work!
One of the best RC planes on youtube!
WOW!!!!!! That motor sounds like a BIG V8 or something. Lol. Awesome video my friend!!! 👍🏼👍🏼😃
_Thank you for your kind comments, brother. Glad to know you liked the video !!!_
This extraordinary clip has excelled. I am a well qualified TV employee. This film clip is the Very Best camera footage for a casual users operator that I have ever seen. The model aircraft as the subject was followed with incredible accuracy but with a very gentle approach. The cameraman led me around the sky with his object, the model aircraft. Uncommonly good and stunning in its visual impact. Is this the very best? Congratulations RCScaleAirplanes, a very impressive video posting. Many Likes.
That sounds awesome!!
The engine runs as good as it looks, nice work. Plus the camera work was some of the best I have seen on UA-cam 👍
Thank you very much! Glad you enjoyed it. 👍😎
Sweet! Look at the high winds. Seemingly effortless flight in strong wind conditions.
_Thank you for your kind comment. Much appreciated !_ 😎👍
Great engineering sounds fantastic MODELERS like this is a credit to our hobby. Well done all round. 👍
Thank you John :-)
magnificent motor! wow sounds so very good! great pilot in such high wind also. great job keep building your very very good we need more like you!
Great workmanship. Bravo
_Thank you !!!_
That looks and sounds AMAZING. Pulled through that pretty strong wind no problem. Well done
Thank you dave :-)
Detlef Kunkel you are welcome
Thank you for publishing Detlef's beautifully designed and produced engine, and also for showing his bravery in flying it in such blustery conditions!. Clearly multi-skilled and talented.
As with motorcycle engines, sound is so important and this sounds excellent! Too many cylinders at model engine RPM just don't have the right sound IMHO.....although those also deserve full marks for design and machining excellence, of course! :)
Da steckt mal Arbeit dahinter, sehr schönes Modell und der Sound TOP. Daumen hoch danke Horst. Grüsse aus Zürich.
Congratulations on a great engine, awesome sound that is perfect for those large scale warbirds that don't run a radial.
Beautiful plane and the engine sounds fantastic.
beautiful plane and the clouds are perfect backdrop
Congratulations Sir! Wowwwww! Very great job a GOOD looking motor!
I do like the sound of that engine . Seems to have good power also .
I own 2 V-4 motorcycles and your airplane has that wonderful sound. Superior engineering!
Thank you very much 🤙😎
James, to be honest, my Honda VFR750 and my Yamaha Vmax were the inspiration for this concept. Exactly because you do not notice the high crankshft rpm so much, compared to an inline engine. The idea was not to sound like a Testarossa in LeMans, but like a big airplane engine.
Thanks for your comment
You did a wonderful job on this plane! Good going! 👍🏼
That engine sounds incredible.
Superb quality engineering. The best sounding r/c plane on UA-cam!
An engine Cowling would finish that plane off nicely..
Thank you very much!
Time to build one you can get in and fly, the design seems to work very well!!!
sounds amazing! Looks to have plenty of throttle response too. Can't wait to see your V-6. I think it would be perfect for a P-51D or a Spitfire.
Definitely sounds like it belongs in the great FW-190 D. Great work and SOUND ;-)
Beautiful engine, great work!
That engine is legit, and it sounds great!
Very nice video and a very very nice engine. sounds amazing, cant wait for the v6 version of it god luck.
Absolutely beautiful airplane and the engine on this bird is truly a work of art. Beautiful flight, great sounding and strong engine perfect landing 😊👍👍 💯%
Couldn't agree more! Thank you for your kind comment.
@@RCScaleAirplanes Your very welcome. Would be awesome if he made a little turbocharger or supercharger for it.
WOW, what a beauty! Nice job.
Very nice motor! And I am partial to high wing planes as well! Nicely done Horst...as usual:)
you deserve an award
Well thats impressive beautiful motor and great sounding awesome big plane good flying too looked pretty windy 😀👍
_Thank you for your kind comment. Much appreciated !!!_
Excelente demostración del vuelo de la avioneta rc y de quienes la operaron/condujeron 👍🏼🛩️🤜🏼🤛🏼.
Thank you !!!
Nice work... You know all about the balance pipe I see... Great machinery
Hi Michael, thank you so much. But to be honest, If I knew all I would not have to try out different lengthes and designs. I find 200 or 300 rpms between the different exhaust layouts. Still not quite pleased, looking for the best densest sound in the air, thats why I would like to build a marving like 4 in one exhaust, collecting underneah the oil sump and leading between the main undercarriage with a quite big diameter tube. ( if you know motorbikes of the seventies and eighties)
Detlef Kunkel they call them collector boxes... Mainly used on the V4 and inline 6 motors... If u can look up the honda VFR400 it is a rather simple design but u may have to change it a little cause ur motor is inline with fuselage and not oriented like a bike... Best of luck and lovely bird
Glad to see that the "homemade engine" was on a remote control plane..
THANKS !!!
