You can look at it and think that you should never do it again, just like you did. I personally would say thay you have to do it more often, so you get better at doing it. I was a total dick during my first relationship, but being able to acknowledge that and try to fix it really helped me for my next relationship multiple years later. Just try to understand what about your actions was creeping them out and why you did it. After that you can work on acting more normal.
It's a lot of pressure on yourself to express genuine feelings without falling into the stereotypical "nice guy" or "bad boy" personas. Trying too hard pulls you away from the qualities and character traits that might attract a woman to you in the first place, and not trying hard enough might cause missed opportunities or to develop poor/insincere/unhealthy dynamics.
Stay focused on building good relationships in every part of your life and your natural qualities will pour out and be noticed by people on a similar wavelength. Women are attracted to genuine men of good moral character. Of course, physical attraction is an element we can't pretend doesn't matter, so good hygiene and dressing like an adult man goes a long way.

the friends with benefits zone is a dangerous zone if you get easily attached, which we all do
For a lot of guys the first step (figuring out if you are in the friendzone) is the hardest.
Some guys are just in the "I've been a decent human being to this one weird guy and now he won't leave me alone" zone which is very different. In case you are in this zone, consider not being friends with her at all. This approach lowers the chance of anyone being uncomfortable by 100%.

"Friend Zone" is a toxic, misogynistic (according to some articles) term that is being used to shame, insult and discourage men for not being liked back by someone they like, disguised as "saying the truth" as an excuse to insult.
Some toxic "friend zone" mindset concepts:
• It's bad to be not liked back by someone you like.
• It's bad and painful to be friends with someone you like.
• If you befriend someone you like, that's because so you'll have a relationship with them in the future.
• If someone doesn't like you back and see you as "just" a friend, it will never change forever.
I’m a woman and used to hate the term until I basically got energy drained by a few narcissistic friendships in which I felt friend-zoned, but was unable to leave due to feeling guilt.
I think that if the friend zoner were a generally good friend (ie the two matched well on that level) it wouldn’t be hard or painful, but when both parties are using one another, even subconsciously, due to being young or immature it can get very painful for both. Hence the constant fighting and conflicts over this with neither side being able to compromise.
In this case: friend zoner may be using the other for attention and emotional intimacy, friend zoned may be using them to attempt to date someone who isn’t interested.
Vs two people who are genuinely good friends with one another and are there for each other without any strings attached: they would likely be able to compromise and keep the friendship going on good terms.
The funny thing is that if either side got what they actually wanted, they’d still ve miserable because they’re users/clearly don’t know how to have healthy relationships (sorry to be all psychoanalytic about It- by healthy I mean how how to forgive, how to compromise, how to set aside their pride and woundedness, and admit that they had ulterior motives going on- and knowing that they can use it as an opportunity to grow.)
Sorry if this sounds super boring but it’s been my experience. It sucks being stuck in these painful situations but there is a way through!

Trying absolute lies, such as "yes, I'd love to have lunch with you, but this week I don't have time" may SOMEHOW lead a man to ask again the following week. Perhaps because you said you wanted to have lunch with him, and he assumed you were not a bald-faced liar with no shred of decency.

these kinds of situations can be annoying. something similar happened to me a few times. but not with a girl, i only ever had and have one female friend. is she into me? i can't be sure. (reference from one of the other videos made by casually explained).
but she is too childish for me, despite her being 18. *despite* her going through some really tough times, her immaturity and positivity can be admirable.

I think the whole friend zone concept might have a negative effect on mental health because the way that I see it is that it denormalizes platonic friendships and implies that there is no grey area

The friend zone isn't about not having friendships with women, it's not being able to have a romantic relationship with a potential love interest. Not all women, just the focus of one's affection.
