- Replacing the tilt trim pump hydraulic lines (inside the the boat), is not going to be an easy task. If you are needing to undertake this procedure, good luck, and I hope this video helps!
You are wrong! Stop playing mechanic if you don’t know what your doing. All you have to do is take the pivot pins out of the outdrive so it drops down about 2” and remove the block they are connected to. They pull out from the back! I just did it yesterday on my 1988 OMC Cobra. That’s what made me search this video.
I’ll stop playing mechanic immediately, sorry I triggered you. Please subscribe and check out my other videos when you have some time. Thanks!
@@michaelromer2016 why would I check out your other videos if you are not teaching properly? Maybe I shoulda made a video to save people some work in pulling the motor. I did it without even pulling the outdrive
Please watch some of the other videos and let me know how I can improve my content. Otherwise, more people like you will get misled and no one will be able to use their boat. Please also subscribe so you can see if I’m making any mistakes on my up and coming content where I’m rebuilding a few new boats.
@@michaelromer2016 ok. I am in no way trying to be a douche. Just sucks to see people struggle more then they have to
How long does this take?
How to add fluid to this pump?
Fantastic explanation and video! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
I just changed on of those line and end up have to remove one of the gimbal mounted stud in order to remove the line, it's little more than how you're explaining it.
You can make a specialty tool to remove and replace the nut by cutting out most of the middle of a deep well impact socket and cutting a notch in the end of it to make it like a flare wrench. Didn't have to remove my motor just exhaust risers.
Thank you! I was able to make this tool using an angle grinder on a 7/16 inch deep well 1/4 inch drive socket.
Picture of the tool please.
The easiest way just take out the steering cable and leave the power assembly on the bracket
Michael, how I bleed the hydraulic cylinders system? (Volvo Pentagon SX out Drive).
I had a line burn thru on the lower exhaust collector and just had to pull the motor to replace it. my ? Is that the shift cable is dangerously close to the exhaust and I’m wondering if it is an issue that it might be touching the exhaust port?
hi thanks and good information. I have redesigned the system so that I no longer have to take out the engine, but of course it cost a bit of money but is worth it, and the idea is to redirect all the hoses, I will record a video this year so that people can think outside box, but also people who will criticize just because they are inside the Matrix thinking and not in Zion
I'm thinking for now, I might just go right up and over the top and outside. Take motor out jn the winter
Can you make a video about adjusting the HOLLEY carb? I need your advice... We tried to adjust it correctly as it didn't run smoothly.. Turned both little side screws (left side / right side) now it doesn't start anymore
Check his channel, he has a video on tuning the holly carb.
hey micheal, how about some advice on the neutral switch at the shifter, on a volvo/penta 5.0 fi 1996. many times i would turn the key to start the engine and have no power nothing at all to the starter....... then i would give the shiftier handle a good shaking and that would do it . turn the key and engine starts....what do you think?
Hello Michael, I enjoy watching your videos...I can learn a lot from them! I have a question about your video about the Omc Tilt Trim pump... I have the same tram pump, I have to replace it, I bought the same one again.... my question: where or how can I fill up the oil after changing the tram pump...? maybe you can help me please. I have an OMC Cobra 3.0L but the exact same dream pump as you in the video. I would be very grateful. best regards Sven
You fill from the red cap. Check out my other videos for how to bleed air out.
I’ve got an OMC Cobra that has an issue that I can’t figure out. I can run the boat perfectly for an hour or so but once I turn it off, it’s either extremely hard to get it to run again or it just won’t run. I’ll have to wait around 10 hours to turn it back on.
I have the same pump in my boat can you please tell me what is the correct fluid to put into the pump I just bought the boat and I have no instructions thank you so much!!!!??

Do I fill up hydrologic fluid from the red cap with the yellow label under it?? Is their a proper procedure to do so..... Trim is working very slowly, figured low on fluid or getting air in lines.
How u refill ?
How do you fill that reservoir? I seen a lot of videos about repair but nothing on how to fill it. Can you help? Thank you
Fill that little red cap that’s on the pump
how do you bleed the system
hose part number ?
Where is your video on pulling the motor to get to the lines? Thanks

It is possible to change without pulling out the engine. Just did it:) it can be changed from the drive side.
Sune Pedersen Send me your model and year. I’m thinking you have a smaller engine.
We have an OMC 3.0 4 cyl. Is it possible? We need to change the tubes as one of em leaks
Yeah ditto we have a 4.3l and I’m trying to figure out a way without removing the engine as well.
@@iloveyew77 any hints on setting up the carb? We tried to adjust it.. Now it doesn't run anymore
iloveyew77 I can tell by looking up your year and make model.
do you know how to add fluid ?
Yes, check out my other videos-I document the process. Basically, you need to add a little then stop once it drops out of the red knob. Don’t overfill.
