    Right there with you. I’ve been growing my store and not moving nearly enough. I’ve lowered lots of prices and run big sales. Finally seeing movement. 26k items but still only selling 100 dollars worth a day till I started adjusting my prices.
    Time to unload this stuff. I finally realized if I sold everything I have for a dollar each I would have 26,000. Time to move this stuff. 😂

      I wish you all the best - your mindset is good. I need to align with that!
      At one point I had about 8k items, then I scaled down to 2k, now I'm at 500 & counting. I decided I didn't want to put all that effort into listings without higher volume sales... Especially when listings disappear sometimes.

      Yup. I haven't quite set a number, but in the back of my head I feel like I'm heading from a 10k+ item store to a much smaller one that works better.

    Hey, I benefitted from your CSV bulk upload videos a while back, so thanks. I sell comics, and sometimes I see comic sellers who price way too high as well. I look at their solds and am amazed they sell anything, but its usually from best offers. I try to price at market or below, as it's essential to get the fastest turnaround you can just to pay for more inventory. Comics are way down from their 2022 highs, so sometimes I'll have an older key I think should go for more, but I try to look at what the market is telling me rather than what I think it should be. If I think it should be $50 but people are only paying 25, its best to bite the bullet, put it up for 25 and move on. I imagine ephemera is much the same, but probably harder to get comps on since some ephemera is really unique or rare. Anyway, glad you're sales are up.

      Yeah, I don't know a ton about comics, but I imagine it's similar to things like vintage postcards, which are both originally mass produced and currently rare at the same time, like comics can be.

    😎👍🏼👍🏼 Stay optimistic, Annie ! Thank you for sharing a wealth of your insights. While trying to not Give stuff away, I also have the saying "I'm not a museum" in mind. Keep things moving. Side note: you are a true story teller/writer. Another income generator for you one day. 😉

      Aw, thanks! I like to say "there's always more trash where that came from!" (I mean trash in the lovingest way).
      I've always liked writing... though I've mostly harnessed these powers for work-like applications. Hope to someday figure out how to write fiction, it's a goal without a plan at the moment, but always in the back of my mind.

    I'm just a part-time reseller. So I don't mind waiting for things to sell. But I am rethinking my prices. I have lots of views but not buyers.
    I have offers turned on, but I suspectost buyers don't like to make offers. I believe they will either accept the buy it now price or more on. It's rare that I make a sale from an offer.
    I will start repricing some items and bundle like items to clear my inventory.

    • @AnnieEbaySchool

      Interesting. I feel like I sell a huge percentage of items on offers. Personally, I look for good BINs when I'm buying things and don't really like making offers - but I always thing *other people* do. I wonder.

    Thanks again for sharing this relevant information. This happens and we have to deal with as other businesses handle unsold items. The money is made when we buy and when purchased correctly are costs are very low. Do we make mistakes in buying? Of course. The risks are absolutely worth it. The benefits in the New England area is that we still have local auctions (not as many) and flea markets to unload. With Brimfield approaching in May, guess what dealers may be looking for ? Inventory !

    • @AnnieEbaySchool
      @AnnieEbaySchool  8 місяців тому +1

      Fewer auctions all the time around here (they've moved online). Same with a lot of estate sales, but there are still lots of nice ones in-person too. I used to occasionally consign things at auction, but I've been trying to find creative ways to sell them myself (lots, etc) instead these days. And some local store consignment. I wonder how much old stock I can sell this way before I hit a bottleneck.

    Great video, Annie! I've always enjoyed your content... But this video in particular speaks to me and is very timely.
    I appreciate how concrete you are with your examples.
    I was surprised at your revelations. I assumed you were making much more just from eBay. I also have made part time money and couldn't understand why. In the last six months I've gone a different direction and done more off-line - estate sales and partnering in a mall space, among other things... But eBay is a niche I can't seem to completely walk away from. So your insights are deeply appreciated. All the best - I'm looking forward to hearing more.

    • @AnnieEbaySchool

      Thanks! That's exactly why I made that video. I know I wasn't being deceptive in past, per se, but it was bothering me that I wasn't being terribly transparent either. It's hard to be vulnerable in public, you know? But I figured if I'm going to do this thing (youtube) then I should be live up to my own value of being honest, even if it's more complicated.
      Have you been running estate sales? It's something I've toyed with many times...

    That perceived value didn’t work for me either. I repriced my whole store last spring, now list at high end of market prices unless it’s something really rare, promote, focus on acquiring things with better sell thru rates.

    For sales I tend to do them off and on ... usually a couple days each week and change up the items on sale. then sales tend to work better. For stuff like you could start them off high and if they aren't getting sold drop them a bit every couple weeks. Maybe you could keep the newer prices that work as your new prices too?

    • @AnnieEbaySchool
      @AnnieEbaySchool  8 місяців тому

      I'm just experimenting a lot with it at this point. I've heard other people say that giving sales a "rest" in between is helpful, and it makes sense. At the moment that's accomplished by forgetting to restart them until I wonder why nothing's selling. But I could be more systematic!

    • @Aaramlias
      @Aaramlias 8 місяців тому

      @@AnnieEbaySchool I find that Ebay seems to value consistency more. It really wants you to list the same amount of items every day and it tends to punish you when you don't with lack of sales, or reward you at items with extra sales. Items also get stale if they've been listed for over a month and the longer thy sit in your ebay store the less likely people will find them. I tend to delete and resell similar and tweak items that are more then a couple months old and it helps boost the items back up for a week or 2 and can get sales from new people of even my older items.
      For sales I have then usually for no more then 3 or 4 days at time then they end and I do them again the next week but I do them a bit differently each time,
      Every thing you do Ebay tends to notice and gives you bit of boost in your sales. Sometimes people will wait until the last day in the sale to buy stuff though, unless they feel the item might sell,

    Unfortunately I have to run offsite ads with eBay and pay promotions for every item just to make sales. With the algorithm you also have to show that your losing every day. You are a slave of the ebay algorithm. I’m going to start cross listing soon

    • @AnnieEbaySchool
      @AnnieEbaySchool  8 місяців тому

      I don't think you have to show you're "losing" every day. Having items that people look at, click on and buy, however is beneficial, as is creating "good" listings that score high on relevancy for the Best Match search. At least this is what I've learned from talking to the folks at ebay.
      I haven't done off-site ads and am not convinced of their efficacy - though I think it probably depends a lot on what kind of items you sell, and what kind of consumers are in the demographic for those items. More likely to search on google (or ebay, or tik tok?).

      Seriously. And they change a lot too, which is scary. But I'm trying to teach myself "how to fish" and come up with a repeatable process. Not that I would ever really fish for fish.
