I was glad when they ended up together , but I wanted some kind of acknowledgement of Finn since they had been enemies maybe just a condolence to Rachel before trying to date her.

Also, Lea asked RM that if Rachel had to end up with anyone it had to be Jessy. She didn't feel comfortable with anyone else.

In my opinion, I think the reason why Jesse and Rachel connected so well the first time they met. Is that they shared the same passion for the stage and were very ambitious towards their goals. I know a lot of fans wanted Finn and Rachel to be endgame, however I think that despite Finn passing away unexpectedly (RIP Corey💕) it made sense for Rachel and Jesse to end up together at the end. Finn didn’t have the same passion for the stage like Jesse. Jesse was Rachel’s soulmate or twin flame because those two are alike in so many ways
I still to this day do not understand how they went from this very sweet scene to him smashing a fucking egg on her head. Like seriously? How tf does that happen. Maybe if that had been BEFORE this I'd have understood, but honestly I just think it was a stupid way to make sure Rachel and Finn got back together, and a waste of a potentially interesting character, a waste of Jonathan's talent
1) Jonathon wasn’t staying. 2) He wasn’t being sweet he was being deceptive. Trying to get her to open up so he could fulfill the mission Shelby gave him. And 3) he explains perfectly what happened and why. He cared more about winning the championship than he did their relationship. I do believe he did care about her more than he expected. He admitted as much to Shelby when she gave him the tape of her singing for Rachel to “find” but he didn’t just come back for Rachel in season 2. He came back because he flunked out of college and wanted to go back to where he was comfortable and thought of as a hot shot, as opposed to a failure. I like Jesse and I appreciate the growth he showed from seasons 1-6, but there was nothing forced about the male version of Rachel choosing a trophy over a girl.

I know they ended up together only because of Finn's death, so I think more scenes like this between them would have made me feel like Jesse wasn't just her second choice because of Finn, like she loved Jesse as much as Finn. In the end, I just don't think so. But you don't always end up with your true love.
drlee2 Well Ryan Murphy always intended to have Finchel as endgame, so after season 1 he wasn’t going to continue showing Jesse and Rachel as a strong pairing. But I think he did show that Jesse always had a soft spot for Rachel, and she for him throughout the years. And the scenes with Rachel and Jesse in the series finale as a successful and happy married couple show that he was the right choice for Rachel. I don’t think it matters too much that he wasn’t her first choice. Your first choice isn’t always the right choice.
