I don't think she was going to laugh. I think she was feeling very intense emotions from Jesse's singing and piano playing, and her own role in the song, and just closed her eyes as a coping mechanism. She has done that at times.
I think a lot of people confuse real and reel with these two. Jonathon and Lea are ridiculously close friends and at this point in time she had just met Cory (who became the love of her life) storywise her preference was always clear. The writers/creators themselves said Finchel was always the planned endgame but Jon and Lea were so close and have such great chemistry that people have trouble separating the two from their characters.

When you think about it, Rachel and Finn never would’ve worked out in the end. They would’ve dragged each other down and sabotaged each other’s lives. They were meant for different places in life that wouldn’t have fit together. And their personalities were just too different to get along for an extended period of time. They needed breaks from each other and wouldn’t be able to cope if they were married. But Jesse and Rachel have basically the same personality. They both love the same things and want the same life, so neither would have to sacrifice their life to be with the other. They would’ve been able to criticise each other but they’d love each other enough to do it in a supportive way. They would understand each other completely. That would make for a much better relationship than Rachel and Finn. Also, Jesse is hotter than Finn.

How is it that it took me ten years to come back to watch Glee videos for kicks, find this one, and realize IT WAS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE A SERIOUS SHOW. Oh my Lord, I took it way to seriously way back then, but this clip is ironically genius, wow what a gem! The writers knew what this show was and rolled with it like children inside of a tractor tire down a hill. Oh, to be twelve and believe this was a top tier unironic drama again! The naivete! The self-importance! Everything about this is brilliant.
So many couple comments on this. You can sing really well with someone and feel that chemistry that is so compelling with someone who suits your voice so well. And yet at the end of the day that voice is connected to another person who might not be compatible with you. But the magnetism is compelling notwithstanding.

But obviously you criticize him without having taken the trouble to see the third season, or all in general, Finn always helped, love and support Rachel, even though she never deserved everything he did for her. Do not confuse Finn with Rachel, because between them she always put her dreams before him, that by the end of the third season, he simply accepted that he should let her go.
The cheshire cats Mom Rachel always deserved better. With her love and ambition for musical theatre, she needed a partner who could follow that path with her or was brave enough to support and push her to that path whether they’d be living on opposite schedules or not. Yes Finn was a football player but let’s be real he was very insecure and it was his girlfriends that made him confident. Lowkey, I think Quinn (don’t judge me) or Puck or Jesse would’ve been better choices.
