Jesse's villainized but seriously his intentions were never malicious. he wasn't trying to sabotage rachel or the new directions, he was trying to help his coach meet her daughter. although he did go about it the wrong way. but then again, I still think most of his interaction with rachel was genuine

To add salt to the wound she adopts Quinn's baby as a do-over for motherhood. How did I ever like this show?!

He does like her, but at the time when he used the eggs was also the time Rachel made the video that made Finn, Jesse, and Puck look as if they were fighting over her when she was romantically involved with Jesse at the time. He could’ve just been using that as an excuse to finish their relationship or he could’ve been legitimately hurt by the action. After all, he has shown to constantly not be over her, even in season three. He literally tried to convince NYADA’s headmaster to take Rachel in her school.
the egging happened AFTER they got back together. That happened after he forgave her for the video. Unless he was pretending that he was over the run joey run thing, which is entirely possible. I think the egging was just a nasty case of peer pressure. But yes, he's shown multiple times that he cares about her.
MsAmandaLynn I agree, I think he never planned to stay at McKinley and was just carrying out that part of the plan. When he got back to vocal adrenaline I think they wouldn’t stand for him being with Rachel so they probably made him choose and he chose them. I think they then made him go above and beyond to prove his allegiance.
i don't know what shelbys intentions were to send jesse to spy on new directions whether it was to reunite with rachel or to beat them at regionals and its messed up that rachel got hurt in the end because of shelbys manipulations
not one person in VA cared about New Directions as competitors. None of what happened with Jesse and Rachel was about sabotaging the competition. The New Directions thought he was a spy but he never was. It was completely about reuniting a mother and daughter. I wonder if Rachel ever figured that out or if she and the rest of the new directions continued believing that Jesse was some evil mastermind that "cost them regionals". Which btw is ironic since the whole time he was in ND they complained about him being there. Yet when he left again, their failure was somehow his fault. The reality is that VA was always going to beat ND whether Jesse was with them or not. Jesse was just smart enough to jump ship when he realized he was going to lose Rachel to Finn either way.

Her dads wanted a baby so they put an ad out for a surrogate mother who would provide the egg, be inseminated by one of them, carry and give birth to the baby who would then be raised by the couple. Shelby answered the ad and her egg was used to conceive Rachel whom she carried and gave birth to but she was never going to have a role in parenting Rachel with Rachel’s dads, Hiram and Leroy, since she was only involved as an egg donor and surrogate. In order to keep Rachel safe from possibly getting abducted by her bio mother (which can be an issue if the surrogate has trouble handing over a baby they carried in their body for 9 months), Hiram and Leroy had Shelby sign a contract that prevented her from directly contacting Rachel until she turned 18 and became a legal adult able to make her own decisions. That’s why she had her student Jesse befriend Rachel and give her a tape of her voice so that Rachel could find Shelby on her own without Shelby breaking the law and the terms of the contract where it never said that Rachel herself couldn’t seek out Shelby while she was still underage.

She wasn’t worried about ND in the least, at least that’s what she told Will. This was all about connecting with Rachel.
