I won a couple of tickets to see Kiss about 30 years ago. Eh, Kiss...ok, I guess I can see them live once in my life. Well...the opening act came out with a big sign above the stage that said "Cowboys from Hell". I had NO idea who Pantera was. They come out and that was it...1 minute in and I was a Pantera fan for life. After they rocked my world, the left the stage and Kiss came on and I think we left after 4 songs. On our way back to the car, my girlfriend said "They had those bands in the wrong order".
Dazed Viking The sound is incredible, even more so when you think they only have one guitarist compared to most other great metal bands. 101 proof the best live album I’ve heard

I feel like whenever most people fawn over a Pantera member its Dime, but man, whenever I watch the band perform live I just cannot take my eyes off Phil. His voice and his mannerisms on stage are singular and great.
I love Dime, and I feel absolutely awful saying this, but I feel they'd be equally fawned over if Darrell hadn't been murdered. Eventually they'd have patched things up and Phil's reputation would have recovered from what it was in 2004.
They started the concert out with Suicide Note pt 1. Then the curtain dropped and they busted into part two. This was the best concert I have ever been to.
I think this has lots to do with the Sadness of Dime & Vinnie being gone. Its tragic all the way around, but reallly sucks that the Powerful unstoppable force that was Pantera ....is just a thing of the past. Just a short chapter in music. Just another band of the past. And it Really Really sucks. It took me many years to realize, what with the Zach talk and all that,....that There IS no Pantera...without Dime in the band, PERIOD. Nobody on this planet would fill the shoes. Then when Vinnie past, . there was no hope of even a mediocre partial Pantera reunion. ..... So, I honestly dont know whats sadder ........Dime is Gone or Pantera is Gone. It just sucks all the way around. - Its making all their music that much better though, Now I hear way more articulate detail when I listen to Vulgar or Cowboys or Trendkill . I hear even more quality & more great music. .... I guess when something is gone, thats when you appreciate it more.
Too cool. I was at this show with my (then) wife and friends. I remember all of it... even that shirt... lol. Was one of many shows we went to between Chicago and Pitt. Even cooler was this was the one show we got backstage and Dime autographed our passes and tix. With a smile and I can say I have 'em sitting right here... 18 years later. Never let go or lost site of those passes and tix... or forgot that night. The energy was.... never duplicated or matched by any.

The memories this brings back..one of the best heavy bands ever. Dime and Vinnie are exactly the inspiration that a young musician needs. R.I.P. my brothers in metal.
Agreed musically however try and remember the long run is better...unfortunate Dime was killed...sad day in music...I was lucky enough to see Vinnie at the Cabo Wabo playing drums with Hagar.
I was 21 at this show in the pavillion with seats. I will never forget the crowd on the lawn behind the fence tore it down and bum rushed the stage. My buddy and I stood on our seats and pulled two girls up with us before they got trampled. The good old days!!
correct. that was in 97. I was there too. it was crazy. destroyed the place. saw em 3x within a yr. this show. then blossom at ozzfest in 97 and the infamous one we're talking about ozzfest at Polaris in 97.

These screams. Unreal. That's the difference to most of the screams you hear nowadays that have really not much projection and power. Surely better for the health of the voice and all but this stuff here is just pure and brutal yet soulful vocal tearing madness directly from hell and you can here it and feel the difference. Nothing compares to this, especially not these days.

Being from eastern Canada and in my late 30’s, saw Pantera in 01’ in Maine as of then now and forever the greatest experience in life. Well maybe tied with June 04’ when Damageplan and Slayer came to My home in New Brunswick and got Dime blasted all night with them.
Without these guys, metal would not be what we know today. They pioneered the groove metal genre, and contributed to the emergence of metalcore, whether you love it or hate it. They used breakdowns, sick as fuck breakdowns, before the term breakdown even exist.
I really wish i got to c them in concert man. Im 15 anyway n theres not mush good music nowadays. May Dimebag n Vinnie Rest In Peace u two r greatly missed
