- 5trains running. Long 55 car, distributed power with Mickey Mouse train, Amtrak, 736 hauling my work train and C/NW switcher and cab. The Mickey engine, C/NW engine and calf, Williams FP 45s and 736 all converted from conventional to TMCC.. the engines pulling the long freight are SD70Ace engines running distributed power.
WOW! What a layout. The Milw/BNSF freight w/DPU was very impressive. All those cars.....AWESOME.
Like to see more. Thanks for sharing with us.
Incredible Layout!! I solute you sir!
I don't think I have ever seen a 55 car long model train running.
Outstanding start for a large basement layout!👍🏻👍🏻
Very lovely space !!
I do admire the commitment to the rare track.
Fantastic layout. Hats off to you.
Hi Elliot W. I used Gargraves flex track when I initially laid the trackwork. Years ago, I met Mike Spanier at a DuPlainville swap meet.
He mentioned that there were a few men making wide radius Super O. At Mike’s suggestion I contacted Gene Becker who made 72” and 54” radii curves. I placed them where they fit the geometry of my Gargraves flex track. A few years later I then, at Mike’s suggestion co I heard that Rich Riley was making wide radius curves. I called Rich and he asked me what radius curves I need. I didn’t know what radius I had on
my widest curves. He told me to trace the curves on a large piece of paper. I sent him the tracings and Rich made a lot of 108” and 96” radii curves. By mixing them into my big wide curves, I was able to match the Gargraves curves I had. About 4 years ago, I visited Rich and he suggested that I learn how to rebend curves myself. Mike also suggested I bend my own. I use RR track software and.concidentally there’s a Super O category of custom Welz curves. Mike also told me that Lyle Leverich published instructions on how to make custom curves.
I now make my own curves. I’ve made a few straights out of curves. I still have some Gargraves flex track on the layout. I’ll be replacing them with custom Super O curves.
Rich Riley did the curves from my layout (very small compared to yours). He was great to work with and the track he modified looks factory-he does a great job!
Harry - Great video and most impressive how well all the trains operate throughout your layout! Not to mention all those custom curves Mike Spanier
I have a whole lot of Super O track and vintage cars, engines and accessories inventoried and about to go on sale. Nowhere to set it up. These were mine as a kid from the 50-60's. Wish I had a basement again!
Some pulling power right there!
Thinking the same thing.
omg wow great layout thanks for sharing
What mayhem? Everything seemed to run smoothly and non-stop!
Outstanding layout! So cool that it was built with Super O track!
looks great Harry!
That's what I call a layout bigger than what I got 🚂
Wow, some what larger than I am used to in the UK. Looks more like fun than mayhem. Camera work wasn't too kind though. 👍👍👍🇬🇧
Just so awesome . WOW .
New subscriber to you today . I run 2 O scale trains now myself , this is great .
Mike Espo.
Watching some of your videos now .
Still the best looking track ever!
No wonder I was never able to find any Super O. You have it all!
There’s plenty of Super O available. Best guy to get Super O is from Mike Spanier. He has a lot to sell.
😆
you can get all the Super O track from Mike Spanier.
This remembers me my dad so much, when we had a Lionel layout in the basement. (nothing like this, though) RIP dad
interesting to see the difference between modern day and post war engines- thx.
That's a lot of super O track very cool layout wish I had to run that long
Super!
Nice, big and nice.
Nice layout, looks like a lot left to do! Have fun
That’s an impressive amount of Super-O.
How do you keep the old center track pins in place?
I’m careful about putting them in. They just haven’t been a problem.
The 3 Lionel Legacy SD70’s do have a lot of pulling power. They also run very well synchronized in lashup.
Sweeeeet layout
what's mayhem is the camera operator
You’re right - The mayhem is behind the camera. There’s five trains going. The Amtrak & Steam freight are on the same mainline.
😆 🤣 😂
Correct! Mount the camera on a tripod, don't zoom in and out and don't wobble it back and forth.
Thanks for the tips. I will take your suggestions on my next video. I’m sure my moving around has to do with so much activity from 5 trains running at once and the size of the layout.
Horrible camera operator. Stay still
That is way to cool 😎
Spectacular! 🚂👍🏽 Huge amount of space required. . .is this a club layout? Also wondering what the minimum radius is.
Minimum radius on mainlines is 72” right in front of the mountain. Otherwise, it’s 96” & 108” radii.
WOW!!!!!! Very nice
Nice
Nice layout 👍
Where did you get the wide radius Super-0 curved or is that another make ?
I had super 0 track when i was a kid!!! In the sixties
Good to see a Packers car!
There’s TWO Packers cars!!
Track raised Slippers and third rail is unique.
If that's all that guy has to do boy I envy him
Supervisor 👍🤝
How big is this layout?
I prefer N Scale, but this is awesome!
I can’t imagine the size of this layout in N scale!!!
There’s 2 Packer cars!
How many cars in in the long consist with 3 locos?
55 cars
@@harryabramowitz5600 what an record probably
bet that cost a lot of money to build.very nice
I’ve kept the cost reasonable.
I often get things that are not in great condition and repair them.
i. e. That 736 was bought for $2.00! I added about $40.00 in swap meet acquired parts. That was in 1976. I ran it conventional till the late 1990’s when, much to many “ collectors chagrin, I converted it to TMCC with Train America Studio circuit boards.
TAS is outa business now. Replaced with ERR. I have 9 engines with ERR boards.
What brand of track are you using please
Lionel Super O.
@@harryabramowitz5600 I thought that was what I was saying I haven’t seen that since I was a kid
Only made late 50s to mid 60s. Trying to make O gauge more like HO track. I think it was just a bit too late in the game for Lionel. Oh, and I have a full Super O layout in my basement.

I tried to find someone who could translate your reply into english. No one I know can read your language.
Thanks for your interest in my layout. I hope you can find someone that might help us communicate.
jerky camera work
Sorry for bad camera work. Obviously I’m more into the trains than photography. I’ve been given suggestions that I will try to use so you’ll be able to better enjoy watching my trains.
I know I’m not great at video taping yet. But - those who are offended please be patient. I’m going to take the suggestions posted here to try to improve.
By the way - did you notice the trains? Seems like a few are more interested in my camera technique than my trains.
Awesome 👌
