    Visualy i have same scooter. Dont know model, but buyed in Hofer/Aldi. Last year i fix battery with this tutorial, Few days ago i tried again. Battery start charging from 17V to 22V then stoped. I take parts out and first i smell something burn in controller (aluimium case with wires). Then i take out battery and fell some smell. Inside baterry i believe it is BMS with DLX-9010B sign. I still have to take all battery apart and measure it one by one. My question is, where can i buy right controler and BMS for this scooter. Charger is 29,4 V. I found something on aliexpress, bit i dont know do i need controler for 24V or 36V ?

    Hey TechEyeMan, I have the same scooter and same problem because I bought it from a friend who had not used it for a very long time but I do not have the variable power supply. I have a drill battery that puts out 14 volts at 1.5 amps or a lawn mower battery that puts out 40 volts at 6 amps. My scooter is only supposed to have 29.4 volts at 2 amps, which one should I use or what should I do? Btw I have already tested my charger and it works fine.

    The XT 30 terminal you explained is that cable the actual output cable from the battery or charging input battery cable connected to BMI. Should you issolate the cable positive cable when charging from your boost power supply( will the BMI be damaged)

    • @imanel-gadaa7020
      @imanel-gadaa7020 2 роки тому

      Hi, Myung. The answer is they are the same cable. the bms runs the negative cable from the battery, through the bms then out to the load and the same for charging. remember that the bms job is to balance the battery in both charging and discharging. what we are wanting to do is bypass the bms and charge straight from the battery output. but in some cases it’s the charger and not the bms that detects the low voltage, in that case you can jump charge it after the bms.

    I have the same model scooter and want to replace the battery. One of the cells is busted and it shuts off at about 6 miles (supposed to go 10-12). Fully charged it and tried it a second time and it stopped at about the same distance as the day before. Someone told me that just replacing that one bad cell won't fix the problem and another will go bust soon. So I think I should replace the whole battery. I'd also like to see if it's possible to increase range or speed just by changing the battery to a different one that's compatible with the controller and motor. Will look at the rest of your channel to see if you've already covered it.

    • @TechEyeMan
      @TechEyeMan  10 місяців тому

      Hi, it’s an interesting question, it depends on the charger. Most chargers don’t allow current to pass unless there’s some feedback from the battery. If you could hook up a wire to the positive and negative of the charger and do the same bms bypass it could work, but if it doesn’t then the charger isn’t letting current through, it would need to be tricked using a resistor value but i haven’t tried this.

  • @Tkdmaster1991
    @Tkdmaster1991 8 днів тому

    So when doing this, is it important to have a variable power supply that can match the output voltage of the charger? I have a scooter that takes a 64.4V charge, so most fo the normal vairables I see are only 2-24V

    • @TechEyeMan
      @TechEyeMan  8 днів тому

      Yep that’s right, the higher voltages can be tricky. you could try using the charger directly via some wires but the charges usually don’t charge unless they detect the battery/bms. otherwise you might have to get into the battery to the cells and charge the groups of cells individually.

    Great video thanks .. Might you know how to wake-up a Unagi E500 e-scooter's 33.6V battery ?
    I reckon it may be in sleep mode because the owner left discharged and when he gave to me to fix it had dropped to around 20V.
    I used and external P/S connected directly so as to bypass the LiIon protection circuit and succesfully / carefully
    charged the BS-18650-8S3P battery back to max 33.6V (nominal 28.8V).
    However the battery still wont charge via the normal charge port when I use a scooter 33.6V 2A P/S with same connector
    adaptor and same rating as origional P/S
    It still wont cahrge even if I use the bench P/S to provide charge via the normal charging port. There's no current flowing !
    I dont have the original Unagi P/S as is lost and a replacxement is expensive.
    The 33.6V battery is a sealed one. I dont have it's protection circuit's electronic diagram to figure out how it works.
    Unagi refuse to help because owner has lost the proof of ownership reciept paperwork.

      If the voltage of cells or cell groups is OK (enough to keep the bms from shutting things down) I'd suspect the charger or bms. My bms for a large battery doesn't appear to be repairable and quite complex, I'd just replace. Same with a charger if the output voltage isn't right. I have this problem now but DON'T want to replace a 700.00 battery if I can help it.

    • @MrElapid
      @MrElapid 4 місяці тому

      Correction: not quite the same problem, battery dropped below the voltage needed to keep the BMS turned on. Guess my point was Charger: not that expensive, same with BMS. Quality batteries? Expensive as hell.

    • @TechEyeMan

      hi steve, that’s correct, you need to jump it with a higher voltage than the battery pack, if you can’t get that high a power supply(which is hard) you could use several smaller batteries in series but if all else fails you will have to disassemble the back and charge the cells directly, each cell (or group of cells on parallel) will need to be charged to 4.2 volts.

Any help would be much appreciated!
    If I continue to leave it hooked up will it damage anything? When I pull it off and check the battery voltage with a meter it is going up slowly therefore it’s taking a charge. Just not sure why it’s not staying at a constant amp output.

    • @TechEyeMan
      @TechEyeMan  Рік тому +1

      Hey there! that’s strange, try to make sure that you can see that the cables you are connecting the charger to are indeed going straight to the battery cells and not through the bms. You should also be able to read a voltage from those wires before you charge and it shouldn’t be too low because the cells should still have some juice. i can’t see why the current would be dropping to zero and back unless it’s not going to the cells directly or there’s a break somewhere in the line. In the worst case scenario you can strip the pack down until you get to each of the cells and charge them directly to 4.2 volts each(some might be in parallel and that’s fine) i wouldn’t leave it unattended because there is no protection agains over charge or over heating if one or more cells are damaged.

    • @TechEyeMan

      Hey mate, sorry to hear about your sons scooter. So it was fine before he cleaned it? Basically shorting out the charge port will likely short out the BMS(battery management system which is inside the battery) or the controller. If you're lucky maybe your one does have a fuse and you can check if its blown. but if not the controllers are not very expensive, same for the BMS.
      while you have it open just check you have battery voltage (probably 25v for yours but could be different) going from the battery to the controller, if not then the bms is probably fried, if you have voltage then the controller is probably fried, Have a look at one of my other comments where I sent the link for a controller.

      Hi Isaac, sorry to hear about that. Hard to say exactly what happened but i’m going to assume you shorted out the display. there’s typically no protection such as a fuse for these so your best bet is to replace it and be careful when reinstalling it. it’s worth noting that sometimes if the brake lever is pressed or being triggered it could stop it from powering on(as you were working on the accelerator), so worth checking that too. i’m not familiar with that scooter but have a look around if there are any fuses that can be replaced and then the next step would be to replace the display.

      Hi Sammy, i would say that it probably will not work if your laptop charger is advanced enough it probably will not allow the dead battery to charge. but you might be lucky and it will charge it however it will only charge it to around 30v which might not be enough for your ebike charger to take over. give it a shot though. another thing is your battery voltage is very low. i suspect it’s totally destroyed the cells by now, unless you are only measuring voltage after the bms and not at the battery terminal itself. see if you can measure the voltage of each individual cell if you can get to them (the will look like big AA batteries.) and each cell should be around 3.7 volts

      This method is only good if your battery has dropped slightly below the cutoff. If your 42V battery is at 2V on the output, something is really wrong. When a lithium battery drops too far below the cutoff and you attempt to force recharge, conductive crystals can form inside cells that can form an internal short... very dangerous. Like TechEye said, each cell should be around 3.7 volts. You have several of these in series that add up to 42V, if the assembly is reading 2V, there is a serious malfunction. I would not attempt to charge that.

But the two large main ports that come off of the battery that plug up to the scooter when I put a multimeter on these and even on top of the wires where they come out of the battery there's no power coming out of them. 52v would be a 14s pack which would need to be charged to 58.8 volts, which is a bit high for most power supplies. you might have to charge the individual cells or the series of cells up inside the pack, that or find a battery or put some batteries in series so you can get to that higher voltage.

      i’m assuming you have access to the battery leads if you’re able to read that 44v. if it’s a 48 volt solar charger and it’s outputting more than 48 volts then it should be able to jump it as long as the bms doesn’t inhibit it. give it a shot for max 1 minute at a time (straight on the battery positive and negative) and keep measuring the voltage after each attempt. It should start rising. When it gets to above 48 volts the original charger should work like normal. Otherwise you’ll have to open the battery.

    I have a similar issue! I left my scooter fully charged around August last year. Today the sun was out so I pulled the scooter out and as expected, completely flat. I plugged in to charge and initially the light stayed green on the charger. I kept trying to turn it on and after about 30min, the scooter managed to turn on and began charging🎉 .. unfortunately that would have been too easy :(
    Excited af, I left to charge fully and ran downstairs to test when it was done. Something said make sure it works unplugged and as I said that, 10seconds later the battery was dead.😢😢😢
    Do you reckon this method will fix the battery? It was maintained very well before it was left to discharge or will it need another battery?
    Replacing will cost £500-600 which isn’t ideal, I wanted to upgrade my build but for this price it might make sense to upgrade to another scooter 💔
