No. It won't. If you use your brake instead of regen, it will stop much faster than it would with regen, while also regenerating energy like usual, but with an even higher current. Using strong regen isn't recommended anyway, it's just not necessary. Use weak or normal.
Hi. I've a foston s08 Pro 7.500mA 36v and I replaced the battery with a new one 10.000 mA 36v (from xiaomi mijia m365). The escooter turns on and I can use it normally but the battery is not charging (light always green). Is the new battery incompatible?
Hello. My battery has a LED that blinks blue. Do you have any idea what that means? The main problem is that my charger LED indicator doesn't turn red or green.
First of all I never used a tester before, anyway i used it as you explain and it shows 19,7. I checked the contacts as you did, without opening the film i noticed one contact was bended but it looked soldered anyway so i didn't touch it. My scooter has the problem that after changing the tyres (i installed the solid ones) the battery doesn't last enough. The scooter also switches off ( with almost full battery) and sometimes I can't switch it on until i don't connect the charger. Any suggestion? Thanks
I've had the same issues after putting a solid tyre on the back wheel after it kept puncturing. I think we have brought these battery problems on ourselves due to Xiaomi putting very poor inner tubes on the rear. These keep splitting.
Yes, it's working OK with solid rear tyre but it is very bumpy when the tyre is cold so I have sent for a better quality inner tube and will revert to pneumatic when it arrives. I have never had a puncture on the front tyre and probably would not put a solid tyre there for fear of damaging the motor.

Hi, I recently purchased a 2nd hand replacement battery that is missing a connector on the right side of the battery (the black wire). Do you know which connector I need to purchase for this? Thanks!
Hi. After stop in recuperation (in hard mode) and using a brake pads my m365 switched off. In house I plug in to 220V and at power adapter indicator show red color, but scooter do not switch on, I open the cover and see flashing blue light at idle mode and if i connect power source it blinking red. After 1 hour dc power source light green color and there is no more light at battery. I measure power at black and red power cable and voltmeter show 3.7V, in contacts at battery show 41.2V. What i should to do ?
It is also very expensive for me if I buy it locally. I have choose to buy it directly from China and the final price including all taxes and transport made it two times cheaper than it's selling in shops here. From what country are you from ? Maybe I can get you a half price deal :)
TechTronic9000 I'm from Poland and that half price would be very tempting :) also I wonder if it's possible to use it as a regular kick scooter, I won't be expecting to get any charge by that ;-)
The lowest price currently for Poland is 369.99$ and that includes: shipping (free), and it's also tax free (no need to pay for customs or VAT), i'm your neighbor from Romania, locally a M365 sells for: 750-800$ in shops. If you are interested let me know and I can give you the price offer (a discount coupon).
I even saw a price of 330$ but shipping was made by a train so it's around 40days(but I'd be willing to pay more to get it faster). Winter is coming and I wonder if that would be good enough to commute in colder weather.
Well there is a new offer now, the scooter is 379$ and for Poland they now have "Priority Line Express", it adds 54$ to shipping but it only does 8-18 days on the road, so it's very fast. This is the offer: goo.gl/69FkVZ
Hi all. I had problems with my scooters electrics from the beginning. Finaly I replaced BMS and controller to non Xiaomi make. But I never had a problem with my tyres. How many miles you did up to the first puncture? And how much pressure usualy you put in to tyres, please. Thanks
What BMS are you using ? I got the first puncture at 250km, after which I've changed the roads that I use and I was getting punctures very often, sometimes in less than 20 km !
I bought the cheapest 10S BMS with cell balancer, 40 amps. 40 amps is a bit too much as battery does 10 amps discharge only, according to some youtube videos. But I was worried, that cheap BMS might not last otherwise. Also I put 350W controller, which should't owerload battery. I done just 100km after repairs, but everything looks good, so fare. No issues, like I had before. How much you pump up your tyres, please?
With tires it's important to keep the pressure right. I had a first pinch puncture in ~3 days of use :)... After that I keep the tyre pressure right and I didn't have punctures for 400kms. After that I had a worn inner tire, so I replaced it with the thicker one. Now I think it will be fine ... after i get the scooter on again lol.
My M365 only has 1 VDC . I tried direct charging but the charger is still in green light. Let for 1 hr still not charging, I tried pressing the connector all looks good, I left the battery not using for 6 months . I would appreciate if you can give some advice. Thanks a lot.
I use weak recovery rate as I live in a mostly flat city so it doesn't make a lot of sense to recover kinetic power, if it was after me I would have disabled regenerative braking completely. Also this is not related to regeneration, it was just a spot weld that failed. The regeneration + overcharge issue is a different story and until now it didn't happend to me and I'm already at 500km done.
Oh I forgot one thing when I power ON i see there is a red led light, blink 3 or 4 times then goes Off n charger still shows green led On. Meaning it's not charging. There are no Blue light as shown in your video. Please advice. Thanks
Dont use normal soldering as like this... heat is not a good for battery.. and also normal soldering easy to get impact again... Please find my video I use spot welding
Soldering to the nickel tabs quickly with high heat isn't bad, it's when you use a small iron and soak too much heat into the cell that it degrades. It's not ideal to solder to the + terminal since there's a pressure relief valve under it that heat can mess the spring up on, but soldering to the nickel tabs coming off of the cell is okay.
It should work, the BMS although smart reports to the controller, but works also as stand alone. The reverse doesn't work eg. the M365 scooter controller will not work without the genuine BMS.
@@TechTronic9000 I see, what do you think can be the probelm , I was riding in the rain and after a few hours it stopped working and It won’t charge I unplugged the main cabel of the battery And still no sign of life. Do you have any idea ?
Hey so my problem is that it doesnt turns on and charges but if i remove discharge plug it blinks red and stops also i did have problem my scooter didny turn on after turning it off
Battery doesn’t work has about 14 volts with the volt reader, battery has red flashing light, and when charge it charger has red flashing light. Scooter also doesn’t turn on at all
Hi, my problem is similar : Battery output is 36V (from the side), but battery output is only 3,5V (BMS output). Fuze were ok (I have 2 Z fuse), TC is 8.16 ohms. When pushing the BMS reset button, it blink in red and I can not turn the scutter on.. I have 6-7 times till now repaired, but now is different. The scutter have 2000 kilometers. Any idea?
Hello, it does not charge or turn on. The charger is green, the BMS always flashes red. I have looked at the battery and everything is in order. Maybe I have to change the BMS ..
Great video - thanks! After watching your video I have identified that I have a problem with BMS and I am wondering if you might be able to help me? I have checked the fuses, all of which are ok but I am suspicious of the biggest transistor in the unit. Every time I bypass the transistor I get the correct voltage. Do you know what sort of transistor this is, the amp and voltage?
Hello, the first time I charged the scooter, the charger showed the green light at 64% of battery level and it did not charge more. After that, I turned on the scooter and it arrived at 71% going to red to green many times and after a while I disconnected the charger. Somethimes, when I try to charge after a few hours, for less than a minute it charges but not continually till it stops as you can see here: drive.google.com/file/d/1t0OtJsBkSK9HA3L28jKuQoFfc3caET23/view?usp=sharing
Hi there, probably too late now, but the seller of my M365 Scooter said the blinking blue light means, it is good to go and you can start charging it. It's when the red light is blinking, then there is something wrong and the battery is in safe mode. She also told me (in the safe mode) that sometimes disconnecting the cables to the battery and reconnecting them might solve the small hick ups, that happen sometimes, as the battery can be triggered to go into safe mode by a temperature change or other unusual things, like charge spikes or etc. Next step would be using the reset button, which is right next to the blinking light under the protective plastic wrap. This will reset the BMS, I believe. Just thought this might help somebody.
Hi again. Now my scooter is not even switching on, i found the contact on the right corner unsoldered (same as you). I never used a solderer, should i just melt the metal wire between the contacts and press until they stick together?
It should be best to find someone skilled, it's very important to know what you are doing as lithium battery + heat is not recommended so you need a good soldering iron and to work fast !.
For the scooter repair I have used a gas power soldering iron, because it heats much more faster and has more thermal power, making the soldering action to take less time. This is my model: goo.gl/vH51Jv
To solder nickel, you will need an aggressive 'flux' so that the solder flows and doesn't just form a blob on the surface. And the OP is right, you have to work fast so that the battery cells aren't overheated. This will fix it until the next contact lifts off and you have to do it again. I have developed a long-term fix where I bypass these contacts. If you can get your battery to me in Brighton, I can fix it for you. All it will cost is the return shipping charge plus GBP1.50 for the new plastic shrink tubing. Note that Royal Mail have now put lithium batteries on the banned items list so you will have to use a carrier such as APC.
Hi I found your video but this was unfortunately not the same problem all my connections seem just fine having real issues with getting the battery back to 36v
TechTronic9000 I have the battery disconnected as we speak I have tried to charge it from the cable that plugs in red and black above the yellow cable still no luck not sure what to check
Hi guys, can I get some help, please? Issue is, I cannot power on the scooter, it is brand new, never ridden. Was like that out of the box. Already got my money back from aliexpress and they do not want it back. My M365 is a budged version with a 20 cell battery pack, which coincides with the 28V as it is basically 2/3 of the 40V , that I am reading on the solder contacts of the long red and black cable, that he soldered off in the video, after removing the waterproofing layer. (btw the sticker on the pack said 36V pack, but I assume that they just use one sticker for all variants) My issue is different from his, as I am measuring 14V on the battery power cable connector (black plug, big red and big black cable). A further issue is, that the charging voltage of the charger is 42V, s this kind of contradicts my theory, unless they just gave me the wrong charger or i am missing something else. I have also checked the usual online suggestions as spot welded connections on top of the battery pack and connection of cable going from controller to the handlebars, all seem t be fine. I do not get any beeps or error codes from the controller, but the red LED on the battery pack is blinking 4 short times and then stops, when I connect the charging cable to the scooter. I also tried resetting the BMS as per link below xiaomiscooter.wordpress.com/2017/04/25/solve-the-battery-or-ignition-problems-of-your-xiaomi-scooter/ I am not quite sure, what is happening when the voltage is just halved on a battery pack between the main contacts of the packs and the power cable contacts. Not very surprising, as i am more mechanically minded, than electrically, haha.
Your battery is still a 36V one, having 20 cells lowers the capacity, but not the voltage. Fully charged voltage is 42V so your charger is also the correct one. Having just 28V seem that the battery was over discharged somehow / faulty from the factory. There are several thing to try on, but the battery from the M365 is a sensitive and complicated one to diagnose and repair. From what country are you ?
@@TechTronic9000 originally from Germany, now living in the UK. Hmm ok, that makes sense, so it appears the issues lies with the battery and possibly its bms and probably not the rest of the scooter. So if I bought a new one or got this repaired the scooter would likely run? I also just found out yesterday, that the seller from AliExpress had shipped these faulty scooters to many people, so it seems they must have known about the fault, as you would clearly test these things before you send them off. Thanks for your help. It is starting to make sense now.
Mine keep turn off after few rides or few days. After I plugged out the red+black power cable for a while and plug in back and the plug in charger cable, the scooter able to turn on as normal. After few rides will turn off again. Anybody encounter the same issue or know how to solve this problem? Thank you very much.
@@TechTronic9000 can you do the same on my battery? If you can how much to repair? My friend gave me their scooter and I wanted to use it since they hadn’t used it for a couple years due to scooter accident falling. Please let me know and how much to get it working again.
I have a weird issue that no one else seems to have seen. The scooter powers on and rides. But will not charge? Blinking blue led and holding correct voltage I’m lost
It will not work with another BMS as the original one has data communication with the controller and without it you will have errors and the scooter might not work at all.
CAN SOMEONE PLEEAAASEEEE PLEEEEAAAAASEEEE TELL ME WHICH IS THE SCREWDRIVER THEIR USING TO UNSCREW THESE SCREWS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SCOOTER PLEASE I REALLY NEED IT
Same here, just resoldering a couple of the tabs in the battery fixed it. The tabs were cracked, not unsoldered. What a pile of s#%t these scooters. Poor design, flimsy, battery can’t take the vibrations. The tabs are very very flimsy. Note that I don’t think that just adding solder will work for long. The solder will be stressed. I soldered a wire with some flex in it. Kind of a U loop. I hope this will last until… something else breaks…
Actually all batteries are spot welded, there are also the fuse wire ones such as in Tesla cars which are also spot welded. There are also some screw terminal cells but those are very big in size and weight so not commonly used in ebikes and escooters.
The issue is not the weld, it is the ‘bus bar’ that is made of very flimsy thin material and has no povision (flexibility) for vibrations. The welds (spot welds) were intact.
@@TechTronic9000 The thing is the battery has 42volts but output from the motherboard is 18volts. Both fuses are giving 18volts. I don't know what should i check or change. 🙁
Hey - So i recently run a flat on my rear tire, replaced with solid alternative and then two days later have a similar issue. Green light on the power adapter, no juice and can't turn it on. I'm making an assumption it is the same battery issue and wondering if anyone has had any success getting this fixed under warranty? I'm not overly keen on attempting to re-solder the battery tabs, but I guess, needs must! Can anyone advise if this permanently fixes the issue? Is it likely to repeat? Would people recommend putting pneumatic tires back on/replacing the inner tubes? Any good alternatives? My partner has a scooter too and has flat front and back tires after a few weeks of use. Many Thanks guys, all your help is much appreciated!
Well, you question is very good, original tyres are too thin and get a lot of punctures easy, the solid ones are good but they are too stiff and will not absorb shocks. Recently a new model of tires was released along with new inner tubes. Reports from some of my friends are very good, they seem to be much more better (thicker) and no more punctures. I'm also considering of going back the pneumatic tires. Here is tire: goo.gl/z4i81P and this is the inner tube: goo.gl/sTWFeP
Decided to pay. Crazy maybe. But this particular desigh I believe you cannot get anymore? So been sentimental like it's a pet. I decided to pay.. Looking forward to my scooters return as I have spent money beforehand to do some mods.. Paid for an air compresser body strips silver and so on.. Like a 50s car dolled up
The problem you resolve in this video is very similar to mine, ~20v open circuit, and drops to ~3v when you put anything more than a meter on it, I've checked the balancing tabs and they all seem well attached to the black runners they're welded to, and I've tried pressing the reset button on the BMS board, but still no joy. When I press the BMS button the LED blinks 4 times, then stays out. I'm thinking this is a diagnostic code but can't find what those blinks correlate to. Anyone know?
Hi everyone, I have received my scooter and it doesn't work at all since the beginning. I have never used it and it's brand new. It doesn't turn on in any way and the battery doesn't charge at all. The light on the charger remains green, it never turns red. I opened the bottom part and followed the instructions on this video and others I saw. When I plug in the wire to the battery, inside the battery I can see the red light flashing only 4 times. After 4 times it stops blinking. I saw the connections on the battery and they seemed well fused on it. No one is moving. What do you think it could be the problem? I thought about something about the battery that doesn't work properly. Can someone help me?
TechTronic9000 um that's weird because I work with solar panels I touched 2 terminals with 80 volts and my sweaty hands because of the sun and the roof and nothing 120 dc from the solar panels you just fell a little tingle but when you do have a cut it will shock hard trust me
It depends on a large number of factors such as skin, sensitivity, sweat, you sweat salinity, etc. Some people get shocked from 30-40 V DC in wet medium conditions.

Your battery fuse may have blown out due to maximum recovery mode.
Regenerating in hard mode with a 1-fuse battery is the same as killing your fuse.

Thanks
hello sir i bought a dc power supply but i don't know how to connect it , could you please help me ?
Dont use normal soldering as like this... heat is not a good for battery.. and also normal soldering easy to get impact again... Please find my video I use spot welding
Soldering to the nickel tabs quickly with high heat isn't bad, it's when you use a small iron and soak too much heat into the cell that it degrades. It's not ideal to solder to the + terminal since there's a pressure relief valve under it that heat can mess the spring up on, but soldering to the nickel tabs coming off of the cell is okay.
Can I use this battery for a ebike? Or it won't work if the BMS is not connected to the Xiaomi m365 controller?
It should work, the BMS although smart reports to the controller, but works also as stand alone. The reverse doesn't work eg. the M365 scooter controller will not work without the genuine BMS.
Hello, my scooter's power button has "sunk" and it is like it is always pressed. Does anyody know how to fix this?
Yes replace the button
I have water inside the scooter near the battery can it affect the problem
the battery is sealed so water should not get in.
@@TechTronic9000 I see, what do you think can be the probelm , I was riding in the rain and after a few hours it stopped working and It won’t charge
I unplugged the main cabel of the battery
And still no sign of life.
Do you have any idea ?
You need a voltage meter to check the battery voltage
Does scooter turn on when i plug only Red and Black cabble?
no, it only turns on when you start it from the controller.
Are you able to disconnect the batteries?
No, they are soldered / welded into a block.
Hey so my problem is that it doesnt turns on and charges but if i remove discharge plug it blinks red and stops also i did have problem my scooter didny turn on after turning it off
Can you please explain what each wire is used for...Xiaomi was no help...I'm trying to do an Electric Skateboard Mod with a M365 Battery
You mostly need the XT30 plug, red and black it can be used for charge and discharge.
@@TechTronic9000 thanks...
I hooked my charger up to the small white connection next to the XT30 plug...luckily it didn't fry anything...lol
Hi mate do you know anyone who could fix my battery issue
My scooter wouldn't charge after a few days of light use. Luckily i still had my warranty and got all of my money back.
Can you super glue all the pins ?
No, super glue is not conductive, it will not work and can become a fire hazard with poor contact.
Battery doesn’t work has about 14 volts with the volt reader, battery has red flashing light, and when charge it charger has red flashing light. Scooter also doesn’t turn on at all
Check this video ua-cam.com/video/EuutXrOgFro/v-deo.html
Hi, my problem is similar :
Battery output is 36V (from the side), but battery output is only 3,5V (BMS output). Fuze were ok (I have 2 Z fuse), TC is 8.16 ohms. When pushing the BMS reset button, it blink in red and I can not turn the scutter on.. I have 6-7 times till now repaired, but now is different. The scutter have 2000 kilometers. Any idea?
Does it still charge (red power brick light) ?
Hello, it does not charge or turn on. The charger is green, the BMS always flashes red. I have looked at the battery and everything is in order. Maybe I have to change the BMS ..
If the wires from the battery have 36+ volt and nothing comes out of the BMS then it might be a BMS fault.
Yes, I also think that, even though the fuses and the temperature controller are fine. Any idea, where can I buy new BMS?
I don't know if you can get just the BMS, and it will not work with a generic one.
I'm at 34v when i plug the multimeter into the charger port what does that mean..
It means that the battery still has enough power to start the scooter but it's close to empty.
5:24 remoove the battery to do this job.
To be honest I have never investigate BMS failures yet so don't know much about it.
It's probably a faulty charger.
Does anyone know what a blinking blue light on the battery pack board mean?
Sorry don't know the codes.
It looks like a bomb, it's quite intimidating.
Alessandro Orlandi I wish you told me sooner because it blew up my garage while I was at work.
What? Seriously it can't be real. You're scaring me for real because I have the same blue light in the battery! :D
TechTronic9000 would you suggest a good soldering iron to buy? I'm in uk.
Note that Royal Mail have now put lithium batteries on the banned items list so you will have to use a carrier such as APC.
mvarcadia Thank you. I think it would be better if I send the battery to you, will you also test it?
Hi I found your video but this was unfortunately not the same problem all my connections seem just fine having real issues with getting the battery back to 36v
Have you tried to charge it through the discharge plug?

(btw the sticker on the pack said 36V pack, but I assume that they just use one sticker for all variants)
My issue is different from his, as I am measuring 14V on the battery power cable connector (black plug, big red and big black cable).
I also tried resetting the BMS as per link below
xiaomiscooter.wordpress.com/2017/04/25/solve-the-battery-or-ignition-problems-of-your-xiaomi-scooter/
I am not quite sure, what is happening when the voltage is just halved on a battery pack between the main contacts of the packs and the power cable contacts.
My scooter is not charging and the blue light is blingking...how to fix that?
I have a red light blinking inside what does that mean? Can someone help me out?
If it blinks red or blue it's not dead. It signals different things but most are unknown.
Helo anybody here.? Now I can Power On but the 4 led lights then gradually. Can't charge the battery
Can you replace the BMS and the power supply to make it fast charge or does it need a connection to a microcontroller?
No you can not, the controller has a data interface with the BMS and will give you warnings and errors without it.
I live in London do you know anyone over here
Maybe an electronics shop?
Mine keep turn off after few rides or few days. After I plugged out the red+black power cable for a while and plug in back and the plug in charger cable, the scooter able to turn on as normal.
After few rides will turn off again.
Anybody encounter the same issue or know how to solve this problem?
Thank you very much.
Might be a faulty contact from a cell group.
Have the same problem have u solved it?
Should I purchase a new battery?
Depends, usually this is fixable, but requires some skill.
@@TechTronic9000 can you do the same on my battery? If you can how much to repair? My friend gave me their scooter and I wanted to use it since they hadn’t used it for a couple years due to scooter accident falling. Please let me know and how much to get it working again.
Sorry I don't do repairs.
I have a weird issue that no one else seems to have seen. The scooter powers on and rides. But will not charge? Blinking blue led and holding correct voltage I’m lost
The charger stays green ?
TechTronic9000 yes I believe it’s the BMS so I’m going to install a better one I found online
It will not work with another BMS as the original one has data communication with the controller and without it you will have errors and the scooter might not work at all.
TechTronic9000 The solder joints were checked and are fine and the bms is working so I will leave it. What else could be causing this?
Hi Devin, did you fix your problem? If yes how?
CAN SOMEONE PLEEAAASEEEE PLEEEEAAAAASEEEE TELL ME WHICH IS THE SCREWDRIVER THEIR USING TO UNSCREW THESE SCREWS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SCOOTER PLEASE I REALLY NEED IT
Makita
Torx - the type of screw head.
Same with mine
The welds (spot welds) were intact.
thouse terminals breakes fast a lot...
Especially if you have solid or honeycomb tires.
How to tell if the fuse is blown?
you could check if power from the battery enters the BMS, also you might measure the fuse with a multimeter.
@@TechTronic9000 The thing is the battery has 42volts but output from the motherboard is 18volts. Both fuses are giving 18volts. I don't know what should i check or change. 🙁
That sound like a broken cell tab, check if all of them are properly connected.
@@TechTronic9000 But if it's a broken battery cell tab then why voltage is 42? Shouldn't it be lower?
@@AzanAli- Where have you measured the 42V exactly?

Could be the same problem, o just over discharged protected battery such as in this video ua-cam.com/video/EuutXrOgFro/v-deo.html
What was the problem? Dud battery cells?
Mine is doing the same . Did you fond anything ?
I’m having the same problem. Any solution?
Hi do you know anyone in UK who can fix these?
Look through this video comments, there was someone from UK being able to fix them.
pure scooters
Is the charger led showing any color ? Green or Red ?
Green. It remains green anytime!
I also saw that the battery pack, inside the scooter is much shorter than this one shown.
That means it's not charging.

42vdc wont shock you not even 80 vdc will shock you
If you have sweaty hands it will.
