Normal is what and whom you are surrounded with. When Jay started way back when. His idea of Normal was different than what it is today. Example: if you are in a low income bracket. Normal to you may be having food on the table and a cheap car to drive. Rich may look like the middle class to you. But Jay has been around the rich and affluent long enough that Normal has changed drastically for him. Lamborghini and Ferrari are normal ideals to him. Whether it’s a tractor or a collector car or a new one out on the streets of where he lives. He has the every man mentality which is nice. Also not knowing him just what I see he likes to be generous with his toys he doesn’t seem a snob. And although he dresses in blue jeans. He would like to believe in the fact that he is just one of the guys. Even if you had no clue to who he is if you got him talking about automobiles it wouldn’t take long to figure out he wasn’t just some average guy at a car show or out cruising around. Not to say he wouldn’t take you for a ride if you asked. How cool would that be.
He's just joking, he started out washing cars at a car dealer, he's a regular guy that just happens to be worth 350 million, and have a 122,000 sq ft. garage.
You know what I love about this show and what appears to me, is that Jay Leno seems to truly have a love for the engineering and design of these machines. from Motorcycles and high end sports cars to little 2 cylinder air cooled vehicles and large trucks. I appreciate that the most, no brand is ignored, no model is looked down upon.(flaws will be pointed out..though) appreciating the craft of going from an idea to a drawing, clay and then fully engineering every aspect of the whole machine. plus, every time he drives a performance car and pins somebody in the passenger seat while accelerating, always causes a grin to force its way out as well getting that feeling in my chest. I am so glad that there are people out there that appreciate these classics and are happy to show them to all of us.
Here in Switzerland i see many of these tractors and i make myself a lot of service on them 5 years ago and there pretty much bullet proof simple and strong
@THAT Guy man in herefordshire uk the rural farmers are often using tractors from the 50s and 60s (ours is 71) its kinda rare to see something newer than 1990 on a normal farm (u see newer ones with the big farming companies)
I watch all kinds of enthusiast sites on UA-cam. Jay Leno is the one guy that always is pure in his joy of presenting a new, unknown machine. Never mean or rude. Always properly curious. Please Jay, keep sharing these finds with the rest of us.
They are beautiful tractors. I had the pleasure of finding one at a local tractor meetup. They sound like a modern truck rather than a clunky 60s tractor
ua-cam.com/video/0MYP95Nh8c8/v-deo.html please watch this!! The son of Ferruccio Lamborghini recounts how Lamborghini born and developed. I am italian so i know a little more than you
How much of a guy thing is the moment of Jay noticing how good the welds are and the responsible party beaming like his day has made? Hilarious! Love the all encompassing shear automotive/mechanical/technical geekiness of Jay and his videos. 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Not me, I don't even have a driving licence, but my parents had some different vehicles, including a Renault, a Mercedes, a Ferrari, and a Barkas. The Mercedes was a truck, the Ferrari a vineyard tractor but even smaller, and the Barkas was a van from a DDR brand, bought just after German reunification, when they tried to sell them in the West for bargain prices, unfortunately they failed quite soon after. But I can say I have driven a Ferrari.
I though Jay's comment that the tractor styling seemed dated and more like 1940's was odd. Frankly, for the late 1960's, this was an advanced Tractor. I had a 1941 Ford 9N, and that was very art deco. This tractor looks more, well, 1970's at least.
He was talking about the mechanics compared to American tractors.. American tractors such as case or John Deere, Allis Chalmers or International Harvester were more advanced than anything coming from Europe
I think they have licenced the Lamborghini name to a European tractor manufacturer. Lamborghini also still makes boat engines too, for the big off shore power boats.
I first saw a Lamborghini tractor just outside Modena Italy, and had to snap a photo to commemorate the rare occasion. I just changed my profile picture after seeing this video. Thanks Jay for an enlightening video that gave creedance to a feeling I had for a little Lambo tractor in Modena Italy.
Craig Kulig You've ever driven a tractor before? Nothing can beat them. The torque is just insane because of their enormous engines and low gearing. This lamborghini tractor is actually very small. There are giant monsters with tracks being made today that weighs up to 25 tons. They can pull fully loaded heavy trailers weighing 30 tons through mud.
Watched this video and a couple of weeks later one of these was parked on the side of the road here in New Zealand, still working. Think from memory they were sold here some time in the eighties.
@JayLeno and company: I am really enjoying these videos. I skipped being a gear-head growing up, but I've gradually grown to appreciate great engineering and design, as well as working a bit on my car... i really like your oddballs, and looking away from just SuperCars. Your historic pieces, one-offs and prototypes are really the most interesting. You were always a natural on TV, but I don't think you've ever really revealed yourself as much as with these videos too. And you seem more interesting than I thought before. ;) Great little video pieces, and like Lay's Potato Chips, you can't stop at just one.
Here in Canada, my uncle owned a 90's Lambo tractor that I've used some on his farm. The dealer stopped importing them to my country around 2006. Part of the "SLH" merged company ( SAME / Lamborghini / Hurliman ). It had a water cooled engine, and was almost the same tractor as another uncle's Deutz, that had an cooled engine.
Really loved segment on the Lamborghini tractor. My first exposure to Lamborghini tractors was in May of 2013 when I went to work for a few weeks in Italy at one of their Navy bases. I have a picture of me on the tractor looking like i'm going ludacris speed. They use them to tow the helicopters in and out of the hanger. Never knew they made tractors. Really cool!
The tractors came before the cars. Ferruccio bought himself a Ferrari car and wasn't impressed with it at all. He actually complained to Enzo himself who said words to the effect Stick to building tractors unless you think that you can build a better car than me! and thats how Lamborghini's got into car building.
There are plenty of Lamborghini tractors here in Spain, my granddad which worked as a blacksmith making plows, trailers and this kind of stuff for tractors or horses had the official selling point for Lamorghini tractors during his working time, I even have a very old publicity paper of its garage printed in blue which shows it...
The funniest part was when jay said he would have guessed this to be from the 40s XD compared to American tractors of the time... It looks about like any other 60s-70s tractor out there. Ferguson didn't even invent the 3point hitch until the late 30s early 40s let alone having a diesel tractor from the 40s ....XD look at the 8n and the farmall H vs this thing is is leaps and bounds ahead of those. beauty of a tractor wouldn't mind seeing how it does in front of my hay swather ...
It's got the squared off looks of Fords of the same era. The biggest difference I noticed was no lights. Italians don't seem like the type of people who farm after dark.

I worked for a farmer near Salem Oregon back in the late 60s early 70s who owned a Lamborghini crawler tractor that had the same engine. It was stronger than his D6 cat.
Jay - Very cool!!! Let's say they wanted to move their Lambo factory 38 feet to the East. They could just find a big hitch, then make phone call so Scotty & HIS Lambo could come over to beam it 38 feet (or 9.144 meters) to the East!! Beautiful restoration by the way!!
I once mired my pickup in deep mud and thought a rancher was joking when he said 'I'll just pull you out with my 'Lamborghini'. He indeed had Lamborghini - bulldozer! It was made before Lambo began making high performance cars.
Wow all i can say Jay you got some museum of cars and what have you and you make everything you got of so much interest and those tires are something else on the tractor

Got 2 air cooled diesel motors outside, Deutz makes em. One on my 2000 bobcat 864, been running strong, 20 yrs, and one on my Rayco stump grinder, at least 25 yrs , thousands of hrs. Great motors, oddly the motor oil on the grinder never gets black, stays gold/ brown looking all the time.
That sure doesn't look like an orchard tractor. Looks like a standard puller. The sheet metal on the hood should come up and over the steering wheel. Sometimes they even offered a small windshield of sorts that was tilted back inline with the sheet metal for improved visibility. The fenders should look like something batman would create. They usually cover the rear wheel down to the axle on the outside and swoop down to the bottom of the tractor in the front of the fender. These are common features to nearly every orchard tractor that keep the controls and operator from being whipped and the orchard limbs and vines from getting caught in the wheels.
Jay, you a good guy, it is always fun to see what you are up to. Your love of these different vehicles is cool to watch.
