- TV performance by Alanis Morissette on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, where she performed Perfect (acoustic) from her 2005 album "Jagged Little Pill Acoustic" on July 25, 2005.
The way she transitions from full chest voice belting into falsetto back to chest voice is, well, perfection
Perfect
I'm sayin!! her flips between registers are always just so spot on
Pretty much sums up my childhood. Anyone else?
Jagged Little Pill is such an outstanding album.
The best album made by a woman in the 90s. by far!
Alanis is an outstanding soul and women Cxxx 💐🌹💚
The MisEducation of Alanis Morissette ✔️
"The first song to be shown to record company people, "Perfect" was written and recorded in twenty minutes. The version of the song that appeared on "Jagged Little Pill" was the only take that the pair recorded. Morissette improvised the lyrics on the spot, and Glen Ballard played guitar." - wiki
Perfect - Alanis Morissette
This is the anthem of the high expectations Asian parent. Lol
I cant with this :D
Yup 👍 sooo true
It's the first time i hear this song, it made me cry I think I demand too much to my children, they're just kids, I just love them too much I don't want anybody to hurt them i feel like shit
Daniel Ochoa i feel the same way ㅜㅜ
I just read your comment a year after you posted it. Wow, that's such a powerful realization and it makes you a better human being for acknowledging it. In addition, it inspires us to become better human beings too. Thank you!
This song should be played before any parent is allowed to take their newborn home. Then played every year on their B'day as a reminder.
Daniel Ochoa your not alone. Exact feeling😞
From a child, I thank you. You'll never quite know now how much your love means to your children. Hang on to them.
I love how she always makes sure to make at least one part of the song sound a little rough so it isn’t “perfect”
Such an underrated live performance! She is so sincere and unique and human.
This album came out when I was a teenager and I was going through it with my parents. I would have this song on repeat in my Sony discman and I would bawl my eyes out. She wrote and sang my life and so many of my friends. Thank you
I love this song and the message the lyrics send. I’ve never heard a better description of parents who live their life through their children., Putting undue pressure on them to be the best at everything they do. This premise is so true especially in today’s society. The song is so relative.
i'm going to play this song again even though its hurts to listen to
Jonathan Cullen it does indeed
Alanis Morissette is absolutely amazing. Her ability to switch between emotional, empowering and rock is fantastic, she brings out something in everyone :D
To my parents, I’ve never been happier,
I got my perfect wife, I’ve got kids who know what it feels like to be loved and accepted. What’s best is your not a part of our lives and we’re living and loving life again!
As a 22 year old I loved this song. As a 50 year old I love the lyrics 😢😢 the power of this song has knocked me for six.
EDIT: back again! What a voice!! ❤
Ive heard this a thousand times but hearing it live brought tears to my eyes
I was walking in the Broad Ripple area in Indianapolis in early 1996 and on the sign of "The Patio" nightclub (doesnt exist anymore), it said "Alanis Morissette $5". Sadly, I kept walking. 6 months later she came back to Indy and sold 20,000 tickets to a concert. I wish I would have seen her at the club. Finally, I will see her next week at the same venues she sold the 20,000 tickets too 25 years ago. Alanis is so good.
This song hits me every time. Brings back memories of 96. Such achingly poignant lyrics and phrasing. What a voice!
Living in Amsterdam when i first heard the album Jagged Little Pill....blew my mind all that summer unlike any of the other mind blowing substances available in that city, all of which pale into insignificance when compared to the experience of listening to that album.
This moved me.
This song is a gem, so happy to see her perform it. I’ve thrown out a lot of old cassette tapes but still have Jagged Little Pill. It’s worn out like crazy but it’s my favorite album that I want to treasure/keep forever❤️
Alanis, darling, this was a gorgeous version. It made me cry. Thanks, Nick for posting this.
yep. saltwater, here.
This is how I learned to treat myself. Got to try a little harder...got to measure up...to make them proud.
The problem is that you’re constantly putting on the mask of happiness while never achieving the ideal person you were taught you must be.
It’s not good enough to make me/ them proud.
This song help me through high school as a first generation Vietnamese coming to America i pressure was insane I play this for my kids when I drive them to school and tell them they are just perfect
Flawless vocal , so good
This song describes me...Alanis has the power to write abouts us and our deep and simple feelings...
Hard to type with this pool of tears on my keyboard
This is my favorite song from the album. So much raw emotion.
This is just so good...a true master of her craft....and we're lucky to hear it
One of the best song :-)
Sometimes is never quite enough ♪♪♪

Solo una verdadera artista canta con esa potencia. Te adoro. ❤😘👍
Best ever
Exactly. Perfect
I showed my parents this song and they said, "See this woman gets it, keep quiet and do better!" Now my parents angrily sing various sections of this song at me throughout the day.
The insane control this woman has over her voice is like.. evolution in front of our eyes or something lmao like I can't even fathom how she does it.
i still think it is love !
This song is the one I want to be played on my funeral whenever that will be, only the holy appendix knows when.
Amoooo❤🎶
shes got some pipes on her
Muy buena voz!!!
Brasil, i Love you, Alanis
they don't make woman singers like this anymore.
Cabeza de Gato I think you might be quite right...
4th all time selling album.
She’s channeling my mother I swear.
❤️❤️❤️⭐️⭐️⭐️😘😘😘
Cxxx 💐🌹💚 l love you
slay
The story of MY life!!! 🤦🏽♂️
Good lord, her voice isn't even human. Her vocals don't get enough credit compared to her song writing.
The album supposed former infatuation junkie is the best
be a good boy ...

Ah my parents expectation of me with my football division 1 scholarship and all the $$ they spent on trainers , to my freshman year to get rolled up on an tear my acl & an artery in my knee n almost losing my leg.
Don't particularly like the version, it's tuned for the audience that watches Leno, of course, I get that. It's overall too sweet and melodic, it's missing the voice beatings that are so well presented in the album version. I miss the 90's.
Playback is over ,score zero
What was that wierd shit leno did at the end of the video....
