Friends don't let friends work on bmw...time to loose his number😂
Especially if the car doesn't show up on time.
Hahaha, i hate working on BMW's , VW, Audi. The people that design the cars are torturous.

I've always removed the intake manifold to help facilitate room to remove the starter. Glad to know it can be done from under the vehicle as well. Good job!
Me too..I just remove it. Do everything from the top...
Takes me about 45 mins to remove the intake and everything else around it to clear enough room for starter to be removed from on top. This was a wild way to do it.
Angel: You're wearing slippers or shoes ? Go put on shoes, you're pushing a car.
Daughter: But you're wearing slippers...
Angel: Do as I say...not as i do
more like: angel: "because I am not ganna push LOL"
HOLY CRAB ! That is a lot of work just for removing BMW starter. No wonder my mechanic friend told me he only fix Japanese car........ GOD bless you Mr FixItAngel.
I knew it was bad when i was quoted $1600 from the local dealer to do it. I did mine up top by removing the intake manifold, well i had just broken my hand so i convinced my brother, a BMW motorcycle mechanic, to do it for me. Cost me a six pack!
wait..what?? $1600!!?? nice that you convinced your brother. and only a sic pack?? lol
Dam Angel you got more patience than a hospital. I've would've taken a week to replace that. Keep up the good work
I think it's time for you to get your self a car lift sir I think you have earned it with all your hard work
BMW Nightmares!!! Amazing kuya how you film this stuff even though you barely have room for your hands 🤙🏽👍🏼
Wow, I respect you for doing the job from the bottom and still be able to get it done. Great job bro.
Your family has grown up so much.
Please people do this from the top.....I know it seems daunting to pull the intake but its really not, then everything is really easy to access. no jack, no lowering of transmission, no risk of dropping a car on yourself or the frustrations of try to reach up into that tiny space. and honestly its much faster.
great job on the video and your tenacity is to be admired.
Man that's old school great job I haven't seen nobody do that since the 80s I haven't had to do that since I had an old Toyota with a 4-speed or 5-speed shift from the early 80s rear wheel drive
You are AWESOME!..Thank you. I was trying to get the top bolt out and now I know I can.
Great work. I’ve done a few of these at work. I’ve always pulled the intake manifold; alittle more work but ALOT easier. Labor time is more than enough.
i will try from the top next time. i was just following the repair manual. But you can always say, there are other ways to do a repair. You don't have to always follow the book. Many have commented like yours. Go on the top and remove the intake manifold. I get it. thank you for the comment. Happy Thanksgiving.
you bring back memories of the absolute " bastards" of many jobs I once used to tackle for a living "...40 years of awkwardness is hard on the joints , neck and knees ....Look after yourself the best you can and your lovely family.....from Jonathan in Northern Ireland United Kingdom.....love your show and colourful honest language when describing some of the painful operations!....fan for years "Angel".....i will have to buy a souvenir from you as on of my favorite nice guys working hard for your family and lack of electro car lifts....I would have been a useful friend to you if i lived in your country as i was also making old cars like new to a high standard which brings in custom by the truck load!....Carry on the great work and providing for your kids etc. as it is well earned and deserved.
You're an angel to do this for your friend, wow.
Good job i did mine removing the intake manifold its a time consuming job
Can we get Angel some wooden blocks to prop the car up or extra jack-stands and hydraulic lifts to act as backups..I want to keep watching Angel's videos for many years to come.....
Great job, jack! That's called perseverence.
Good job Angel keep the videos coming you’re my pandemic entertainment.👍🤟
On some of those BMW's it's much easier to remove the intake manifold to gain access to the starter.
I will try that next time. Just following the repair manual procedure
Most pple seem to be recommending removing the intake
The first 3 minutes was hilarious.Anyway your daughter was helpful.
With all your efforts and all your knowledge..you should have your own car repair shop.I really enjoyed your videos.ty
You are a cool guy, I learned a lot from you. Good luck brother.
brother just take the intake manifold off and use a 10 mm box wrench to get the etorx bolts off the back of the starter, I did this whole job on my e46 in an hour. granted I have taken my intake manifold off over 10 times and it takes me 15 minutes at this point. Your commitment to getting it out from the bottom is admirable and I appreciate your effort.
Removing the intake manifold is the best way to do this starter..
Kkkkkkk he didn't know how he knows
yep, that's how it's done. At the same time the CPS is replaced because that sensor is also a bitch to replace and it does fail. Doing it under is the most difficult route.
What’s the CPS?
@@mavricxx Crankshaft Position Sensor, same location as the starter.
@@mavricxx Crank Position Sensor
I did working in that kind of situation on my cars during my younger years, but now, can't do it anymore. I'm 75 y o now... hahaha. I admire your patience.
Hey Angel! Those old bottle jacks make perfect transmission jacks.
BMW👉🏼Bring My Wallet 💸
Got that Right,Especially if Your Heading for Dealer.Lol
Replaced a couple not a fun job except i did it from the top & removed intake. It's a little bit easier than from the bottom but a good video as always angel :)
perfect job for a sore neck. Good job.
He shows it all the good and the bad.👍
thank you Adam
That is one crazy repair.
Great job and love your videos! Especially since you show it from how to do it on the ground in your driveway. I wonder what that strap was that was hanging by the firewall with the eyelet. It seemed like an extra grounding strap and the starter looked like it was replaced before. Coincidence perhaps?
Nice work bro 👍🏽😎
The BMW E46 6-cylinder engine starter motor is located on the left side of the engine below the intake manifold. It is not the easiest part to access on your BMW and can be replaced a few different ways. On most rear wheel drive manual transmission models, you can access the starter from below. On rear wheel drive automatic transmission models, you can access it from below but there limited workspace. On all-wheel drive models, the sub frame has to be lowered to access the starter from below, so I prefer to pull the intake manifold .
You should be aware that in all 6-cylinder models you can pull the intake manifold out of the way to replace the starter. You have much better access and can avoid lying on your back for hours. Great video , well appreciated the effort you took. keep up the great work.
thank you for sharing. i appreciate it. have a nice day.
On e36 better to lower subrame in engine bay and lower gearbox a bit and do it from under the car than removing the intake many cus that wont give you much space to losen the bolts from starter
If you ever do one again, go from the top and remove the intake manifold. Way easier than going from below
Good 👍 job
U took time on this one Angel. I would have done this job in about 3 months LOL ur daughter wasnt that pleased when she came out to knock starter shes just like my daughter.
What a nightmare my friend. Yet you made it through and made me laugh many times here lol, all in all excellent work!! 🏁
A well deserved thumbs up!!!!!!
hitting the starter trick saved me one time I was 2 hrs. away from home and my SUV would not start
Mannn, that looked like a tough one .💯💪🏿👍🏿
Hey Angel that video was tight BRUH!
This was a pain! Nice work getting it out
Did this not too long ago. Intake manifold needs to come off. Pretty easy job

Stay Safe. AllMyBest to You and Yours this season
Thumbs up done ✅ brother ❤ watching from Canada 🇨🇦
Angel overkill on the jack stands, but not even a cheap pair of safety glasses...? SIGHT IS A WONDERFUL GIFT..👀😎🧐🤓👩👩👧👦🤙🏽
Very good angel
واصل ابداعك يا اخي مشاء الله
Good job !
full send gotta love harbor freight jack
Amazing man
Good job... Thanks...
Those Duralast replacement parts don't quite last very long!! If I was keeping that car I would stay away from AutoZone for any critical electrical parts!! Good video 👍
Dura NOT last
Oreilly's ,No Better.Probably 60-65% of House Brand Parts Are from China
You are soo right
Well done.
Ángel l love your patience take your time no comebacks 😊 is are goal :) 👍
Nice job! The rear shocks is a walk in the park compared to this.
My freaking 2001 Z3 Roadster just crapped out on me and I need to do the same, I am still debating if I want to work from the bottom or take the intake manifold and work from the top. thanks for sharing
Lmao you're giving me flashbacks when I changed the starter on my 97 M3. It would have been easy if the previous owner didn't tighten the shit out of those two bolts when he did a clutch job. First I removed manifold but that's when I found out the bolts were too tight so I had to go from underneath.
when you think things will go smoothly. lol
Good job
They should let the people who designed it do the work and see how they feel when mechanics or DIY try to fix their ignorance design. Overall nice work and love your videos.
Meng Song: That's their point. They want to do it for you and then charge you an arm and a leg.
Serviceability in the field is the very last consideration if considered at all when designing these monstrosities from hell. Not to mention they really don't want you to fix it but rather buy a new car.
Totally agree
Not ignorance but planned service and maintenance nightmares. All the manufacturers are following suite for increased profits for the stealerships after the initial sale. Planned obsolescence is REAL.
Nice video
Had a Ford Sport Trac - two bolts, two wires and it pops right out ... But.. you can't get it out without removing the exhaust manifold! But this is way worse!!! Thanks for the heads up. Unfortunately for you if this was a friend or relatives car you didn't get any money for doing this. I'm in that boat! I work for hugs and " thank you's) . Great video. Thanks!
Good job Pro 🤠🤠🤠👍👍❤️
You sir, are a lifesaver. I wasn't changing my starter but I needed to replace the cable from the alternator to starter. No need to remove the intake manifold with this method. I actually was able to use a mirror and two extensions on my ratchet from the front of the car once my oil filter housing was out. I also removed the CCV lines. For installation of the cable I went under the car like you and used my mirror to guide me. Only thing was I lost the 13mm nut.
The E46 is super easy to work on but in this video you made it look like a nightmare lol.
Very well 👍🏽
Thanks for the sticker
Pffft you make that look EASY !!! : P
i love your videos, when replacing rear shock?
if you would have pulled intake this would have been 100% easier
congratulations friend. good job from spain. espero que le cobraras 1000$ por la reparcion. Menudo trabajo de locos.
Fantastic job muy bueno . Hope you and your family have a gfeat safe Thanksgiving. Pedro hamden,ct . Paz
when starting the car by pushing, I use 2nd gear - anyway nice job, without a lift!
BMW SERIES Removing the intake manifold is the best way to do this starter., I have done it..
On e36 six cilinder better lower the engine and gearbox a bit
Hi angel, which one is better to do change the transmission fluid or flushed out the transmission fluid? I have Toyota Venza 2015..thank you
الله يعطيك العافيه عمل جيد😘
O my gosh is was very hard work
Hey Angel, Have you done a starter job on a 2001 to 2007 Toyota V8? Its under the air intake manifold!!
😰
So does a 2010 Honda civic
That was some job! What a pain to work on!
I've done this back in 2012.. 2004 325I sport wagon
Increíble.
. A day to get a jump start
عمل متقن
Regards for you from Iraq
At 19:06 we can tell that someone had removed the starter before and didn't bolt the cable hanger with the loop using the starter outer bolt. This is why it seems these two E12 bolts are not too hard to loosen.
You should use a 24" long 1/2" externsion to remove these bolts working at the back of the tranny, not at the left side as you did.
There is a much easier way to get those mounting bolts out, for me anyway. I use the right size ratchet wrench from the top. It works just as well as a reverse torex socket.
😂 I haven’t watched the whole video and you are making me laugh with those comments.
I have a 323i ‘00 and I know what you are talking about ( once you know what to do, everything else is gravy tho). I always watch 50’s kid or shoplifetv for reference
Selena got fat as fuck!
Видио у тя классные брат 👍но у тя холодно дождь снег бывает когда-нибудь? Как не посмотрю всегда солнечно
It could have been started in reverse also no need to push back then forward. Also you should have just pushed it into the driveway 1st time. Agree on pulling the intake to do the starter waaaay easier then underneath. Good job tho.
That starter has been changed before you can tell by the part number and stickers
Did you lose any motor mounts to jack motor up a little
sorry bro, i laughed at "lara is home already" and you have removed just 1 bolt... 😹😂🤣
Ever figure out what the blue wire was for?
Quite challenging & detailed... Add on my learning... One thing if you dont mind? Why do you have a Phillipine Flag? I hope next would be automatic transmission.
i love you
