Here’s a tip for you and others out there that own/drive their gt3/rs cars. When the maximum oil light comes on and says “driving permitted”, please don’t drive it like the oil light isnt on and redline it. Instead, pull over, turn off the car, open the rear deck lid, open the oil cap to release the pressure, put it back on and start the car. If the light is off, proceed to drive it like you stole it. If its still on, drive at a reasonable rate and take it to the dealer for service. Cheers!
Meh. The difference between that light being on or off is quite literally 0.3 liters of oil. That's 1 1/4 cups. It's not going to hurt anything unless the shop grossly overfilled the oil. And if you drive the piss out of the car, it will burn off the excess anyway lol
@@jroman5834 lol yeah you can just open the cap to vent. And if light comes back on at least you know it's overfilled for reals. But having it overfilled a little isn't the end of the world. Unless someone dumped an extra liter in there...
I think I watched this video a million times … not only because I’m hesitating between the 2 to buy next year but also because I love the way the video was made, and your comments genuinely are sweet to the ears ! But in the end the RS takes the cake when it comes to me .. anyway thank you for this video man
Funny you say that. I own the 991.2 gt3 with manual. Was trying to decide if I should upgrade to the 991.2 RS or the new 992 GT3 Like you said- manual is great but I have another sports car with manual- and like Serg I’ve watched this video quite a few times. Ultimately I just cracked a deal to trade my GT3 in for a low miles well cared for RS And yes, it was the looks. I want the car that looks like the poster in a young man’s room!
I have owned both.. Although the 992 GT3 Steering is heavenly and that wing is absolutely gorgeous…… the interior not so much… No character…The Analog dials and of the 991.2 RS are much much nicer! In the Sound department there is no comparison… RS is so so much more Visceral! As for Transmission , to me nothing comes close to PDK…. Specially when driving aggressively…. So instant and free of distractions… and it is absolutely glorious in manual Mode !!!! and Its the faster of the two transmissions… I ended up back on the 991.2 GT3 RS after owning the 992 GT3…. It is just a more Visceral/Exciting car and ahhhh that sound! The only thing i miss is the awesome double wishbone on the 992 GT3!
Great video, great car, but the McLaren steering is still the best in the business, yes even better than Porsche. Thanks for the comparison review between these two 911s.
How about a review of the Manual ZL1/1LE? Those things are super rare and we never get to see those on the road. GT3's are as common as the Corolla in most places now.

I can’t get a headlight that is cracking under warranty and I purchased the car brand new 6 months ago. They have given me every excuse under the sun!
Great video lots of open roads to truly enjoy the car . So I got a question the Gt3 with the wishbone in your opinion is what makes the difference. So do you think the RS version may be too much of race car and not enough of a street car ?
I appreciate you my brother 👍🏻🙏🏻. I think the new RS will be even more rough. That being said I think it will be absolutely incredible but maybe a bit too rough on roads
I own a 991.2 GT3 RS and I have never bettered my PB in a 992 GT3 😀 Also, the interior of the 992 GT3 could be from a Merc or Bimmer. Although it is well done its a real negative for me, I like real dials and binary option buttons that you can activate without looking. Not a real fan of the 992 GT3 RS either, technically excellent but somewhat gimmicky and round a track the difference between a 991.2 GT3 RS and a 992 GT3 RS comes down to the tires. If one car is on Cup 2R and the other is on Cup 2, the car with the Cup2 R will put down the quickest laptime. You may not know this, the reason the GT3 front end feels more twitchy and the steering feels "sharper" is because Porsche put a faster rack in the 992 GT3 and upped the stock camber - it doesn't benefit anything, just gives the illusion of more feel and feedback and on some roads its a real negative.
Great feedback. Thank you for your knowledge. Wanted to ask what you would recommend doing to the 4RS to make it better? Is it just an alignment problem? Car feels loose, understeers and back starts dancing under heavy braking. Great to know about the 991.2 VS the 992. What a bargain the 991.2 is right now
@@MiamiMiles The two very simple things you can do with the 4RS are (1) drop the front sway bar to the softest setting and (2) get a high quality alignment check and if all is good go to a more aggressive alignment within what is possible before modifications. See how this feels first up. For most drivers just doing (1) makes a difference to the front end. With (2) make sure the alignment is in spec and balanced. Then adjust from there. There are modifications that can be added if this doesn't work for you e.g. shims and more adjustable control arms etc. PS don't just rely on threshold braking when coming into a tight corner from a fast straight, use threshold and transition into trail braking.
Man … I keep watching this video because I wanna buy one of these 2 next year (2024) and my heart goes towards the 991.2 RS … after reading your comment I’m like fuck it that it … gt3 rs 991.2 is the way to go !
Another fun video, Mick. Kind of boring scenery in Mexico, though...Lizard green with the billboard GT3RS on the side!?! Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaggggggg...!!!! Your McL's green is great, BRG is cool, but that green--or BMW Isle of Mann Green--which would have been the last choice on my M4 Comp, are putrid. But what fun to drive. I'd go PDK simply for the much faster straight line, but you're right about the fun--and challenge--with the manual. Enjoy driving my wife's Civic SI 6 speed. Maybe the Porsche is a bit better, but nothing anywhere near its price point compares to the Honda's. It may be down hundreds of horses on really powerful cars, but the fun factor makes up for it. Same applies to the Porsche 0-60/1/4 mile vice PDK. Nice to have them both available.
Yes it is. Amazing garage my friend. The Lizard green is a little too much for me as well. I’m much more of a fan of the green on my McLaren 😀 the Honda SI is quite the car for the price too. Would love for you to thrash that 992 GT3 though, it is so much fun 🤩
Dude, we need more 991 v 992 videos! You’re a lucky man and thanks for taking us along for the ride. I’m gonna vote 991 but trust your opinion and can’t wait to try a 992 out!
I think aesthetically you're right. Dynamically though, it is so good. I drove the touring version with the PDK this weekend and it blew my mind. That being said I think 991 will be a much more collectible and legendary generation.
Great enthusiasm shown again. Nice photography. I have always been a manual fan but as I get older and see the improvement in the PDK, I wonder if I will miss the manual, as I am buying a GT4RS which uses the blindingly quick PDK from the 991 GT3RS - so there is no option. Agree with you that the lime green RS here looks the better car. The 992 is svelte and clean but unappealing to me.
Comment on point my friend. I think the 4RS is a winning proposition for you and I can’t wait to hear how much you like it. Congratulations on the incredible acquisition 👍🏻
@@MiamiMiles I keep coming back to this video to see which of these cars I'm gonna get. I think I have to go with 992 GT3, because my buddy will call me a bitch if I get the PDK gearbox. He's driving around in a 1998 911 Carrera 4S... I drove it the other day... the manual gearbox in that, the clutch, brakes, steering... it's so mechanical... it would take me a week to get smooth on it. Ha.
How people can not just see the 992 generation is so ugly, new design killed all the original charm of the 911... New generations are usually always better about performance & gadgets, but that's all, even the 992's interior is too modernized, this looks like the sport car of the modern business man, & similar design than other subbrands like VW, Audi... Front & back faces are ugly, too much "standard", while the 991 has nostrils in front as example, which makes it more cool.
I agree that the 991 is a better looking car overall. The 992's rear is more aggressive IMO. Agreed about the interior being too modern. Either way, both cars are great to drive, but I still prefer the 991 which is why I have one
