In my opinion the 991.2 Gt3 is more beautiful than the 992 gt3. Straight-line performance is identical.
As for the times at the Nurburgring, the difference on the 20 km track is around 12 seconds. However, the 991.2 gt3 was fitted with michelin Cup2 while the 992 gt3 was fitted with cup 2R, this means that if the 991.2 is fitted with the CupR, the gap is certainly not 12 seconds but a few seconds less. Having said that I'm not saying that the 991.2 is technically better than the 992, but the differences are very minimal. Probably only a very experienced pilot notices small details, everything else is just marketing.
On the European market, a 992 GT3 with few km (miles) is valued at around 240/250k.
A 991.2 Gt3 with few km (miles) is estimated at around 180 / 190 k.
In my opinion, the approximately 60k difference is not justified.
I completely agree . I have a 991.2 GT3 manual just bought it 5 months ago and love it . Upgraded with a sharkwerks exhaust and a numeric short throw shifter and not its perfect especially for the road and mountain roads. I don't plan on driving it on track i prefer to use theirs and not put the wear on mine
From an investment perspective I would say it is justified because it’s the „last“ real GT3
@@philrice3375last in what way plz?
@@mich5528last one with mcphearson front suspension
@@Alva2323 the 992 has front double wishbone so I don’t get your comment sorry
992 Front suspension is the main point of difference. It is an absolute step change in capability. The rest of the package differences whilst substantial are more subjective and I can understand why some like 991; Similarly, why some prefer 997
My Ford pickup has a double wishbone front suspension. What would Porsche wait so long to put something on that is on a normal passenger car?
You guys make a great team! Thanks for the video.
Great comparison guys 👍
I thought that this was a very good comparison and review. I appreciate everything that was covered in the Review 😊
Good vid gents!!
Great comparison between the 2.
.2 is prettier but 992 is more aggressive
Very informative regarding the incremental improvement of the 992 you have hit the nail on the head. The only downside is the PCM which is poor compared to 991 as it’s a distraction and in my opinion demands more heads in interfacing. A video on the 992 PCM and how to manage it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for a cracking video.
Fantastic video as always love to see one on a 991 turbo s my dream car thanks
Excellent content.
great info thanks guys
Great video 👍
Good content. Hard to pick for me I think they both rock.
Great video as always. I have a 991.2 gt3 and best 911 I’ve ever owned, feel the 992 gt3 is just too stiff for the road for me anyway.
Agreed, plus I think the 991.2 front end just looks much better. That big black plastic front nose is just not attractive on the 992
@@993mike and the rear too ...just an inspiration off RSR ,soory for my poor english !
What do you do for a living and how do i start
Cool, I didn’t know Matt Leblanc is still doing car related shows after Top Gear US. Good for him👍
As an owner of 992 GT3 & 991 GT3RS Tim has got his analogy spot on, my 992 is a manual so have a good contrast. Good video look forward to seeing more in the future.
In the video the 992 looks a lot more fidgity, looks like the suspension is much stiffer. Personally i think i prefer the older car, it might be less capable, but it looks like more fun. Am i correct in my assumptions?
@@milootje007 They are both very different cars now the 992 has double wishbone front suspension. The 992’s steering is very quick and responsive, I like a lively car but some don’t. By comparison the 991 feels more GTS compliant. I have a heart for both platforms👍
@@markhumberstone7068 Just bought the 991 GT3, plenty for me lol
@@milootje007 Having had all GT3's to date my current GT3 the 992 is such an amazing car a real step up in looks technology and drive feel. Looks are subjective I know however my take on the 991 v 992 looks debate see me preferring the 991.2 Touring to the 992 Touring however the 992 Winged car eclipses them all to me.
I have to say that the chatter about the suspension being stiff and making the car busy is somewhat unfounded on me. Expecting the worst I was so surprised at how well and composed the 992 actually rode. It's a very well put together suspension package that works everywhere just perhaps not as well on the English B roads.
@@SS-oj4enonly the 992 3RS looks better than 991, otherwise 991 looks better
Thank you
Trading my ‘17 Turbo S in for an ‘18 GT3 Clubsport in a couple of days. Watching videos like this on the lead up makes me more excited. Thanks! 😊
I drove both cars (Touring version). 991 is the winner. Feels like a glove, sounds rawer, there are less made, feels smaller. 992 feels larger, motor engine is reduced. Don’t know why but there is more space between the tires and the chassis on the 992, therefor 911 looks lower. Driving my 991 GT3 Touring daily and love it every mile ❤
Looks wise - the 991 is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!! And also it came with the right color wheels.
The 991 is a beauty!😍
I like this kind of comparison videos, both great cars.
And I doubt it's a 3 piston rear brake caliper...
4 pistons, definitely
Worth watching the review on Harry’s Garage, I found on test drive that the ride in my 991.1 GT3 was far better on a British B Road than the 992
Great informative video as usual chaps and as a former owner of a 991 RS agree the 992 GT3 feels as good as the RS on track.
What do you have now love porsches
I think the 992 GT3 feels better on track than my 991.2 GT3 RS. I literally can’t get over how sharp the front end is and what a transformation it’s given the 911’s dynamics
@@Luke-pb4pcI have a 992 GT3 now, coming from a 991.1RS
@@jameswillard1totally agree, I compared against the 991.1 RS. Front end is amazing.
What do you do for a living and how do i start
NGL... I like the 991.2's front end looks, and I like the 992's rear end looks...
992 rear end (and the whole rear half of the car) is leagues ahead, but I think the original 991.1 front end is the best and prettiest. The 992 just refines the shape more, and crucially for me there's less body panel above the rear wheel as it's designed with 21" wheel in mind (991s with 21" rear wheel look "jacked" up to me). 991 rear end can look quite dated, especially bad with the clear tails in certain body colours.
I prefer the rear of 991.2
Absolutely love the 991
What about the size and feel on the road? Does the 992 not feel too big on the road?
Both of these cars are my favorite. I honestly don't know which 1 I like better. They look sooo good! I love both the wings on each. I love the front end on the 991.2 a lott more. But other than that, both cars are superr fabulous. 😎😎😎 Amazing job by #Porsche! Been a Porsche fan for so many years. It's amazing that in 2023, they're still able to impress and exceed expectations, and just make the coolest rides for car fans to enjoy. We are very lucky a brand like this exists. 😎❤
I had 2 GT3s with PCCBs. For the amount of upgrade in capability for normal drivers they’re not worth it. The Steels are fantastic for 99% of gt3 drivers
Really considering a 991.2 gt3 manual as a replacement for my 991.1 gts manual.
I replaced my 991.1GTS PDK for 991.2GT3 manual, and I must say, this is at least different league, if not a different game.
Great video but too bad that’s not what Miami blue looks like in person! A gulf blue PTS might be close.
The 991.2 still looks and feels like a 911. The 992 is a better car but not a better 911.
Well put. the 991 feels like a perfected 911, and the 992 took it too far, it's almost too gimicky. Even the interior, eventhough it is clearly a lot slicker and more beautiful it fits the Taycan more in my mind
991 looks odd to me from the front the smiley face thing 😊
I agree. It looks like the 992 stole a wing from McClaren. The 991 looks much more organic. The 992s big claim to fame was double wishbone. My Ford pickup has a double wishbone front suspension. That’s earth shattering?
@@SS-oj4en ur thinking of the pre facelift 991.1, the 991.2 in this video does not have a smiley face and looks significantly better then the the .1
@@milootje007i like the interior more tbh
Maybe the 991.2 more engaging as a road car? What’s the new GT3RS going to be like…..?❤
Great comparison and review. Perhaps for future videos practice your script a bit more as the uh and uhms fillers detract from all the hard work you guys put into making great content.
Is that 991.2 Miami Blue?
that 991 has 997 carbon buckets in it.... or did europe have those as an option?
Yes this was an option here in europe
Porsche makes some beautiful cars man.. I just wish I could afford one...
My 991.2 has a pcm delete ,best thing I did 💁🏿♂️
How much does it cost to gain the commercial helicopter license?
992 GT3 got a better performance (only notifiable & usable for expert drivers, or addicts with that on the paper...), but loose charm (face & rear + rear spoiler, ugly; front face too much sanitized while 991.2 has nice nose holes, & rear face is too massive), and, interior is not charming neither.
On my opinion, 991.2 is the best "modern 911" as "all-in-one compromise", it has good look, good performance, good & soft tech onboard (I like tachymeters & also middle console climbing), quite enough.
992 is just to "sell a new model", because modern world wants evolutions, but 992 became too much the sport car of the modern "bourgeois"!
I will personnaly prefer a 993 with famous angry rear face than a 992!
I think they got they HP numbers wrong. The 991.2 makes 500hp and the 992 makes 510hp
For the price of the 992 GT3 I rather buy the 991.2 GT3RS.
According to Porsche the 991.2 engine is DIRECTLY out of the gt3 RSR
The 991.2 GT3 doesn't have individual throttle butterflies.
Don't think that I would be overly comfortable buying an expensive car from a Sales Director that evidently cannot distinguish between what is the floor and the ground!
Why does he have to mention Gregs name ALL the time.. we know who he is
Apostrophe man is everywhere... Gearbox's
Nice video, but, front fenders are not in CFRP ( even on the 992 ) but in aluminum. The 992 is just a much better car for those you drove both. Period.
992 has an OPF which ruins the sound :-(
991 peak 911 all went too wide, too ridiculous with massive spoilers and vents
The 992 is no wider or longer than a 991
l absolutely love the GT3 until the better sounding midship engine GT4 RS joined the party!
The older one looks better.
I don't like the vents in the front 992🥴
991.2 looks absolutely beautiful compared to utter ugly 992.
Piace di più la 991 mk2 è una vera 911 ....la 992 no non mi piace....
Pies, pies, pies…….Dan Cammish……….
Your headline is wrong... 991.2 it should read.
Which one is more overpriced?
Neither and we no you can't afford either one 😂
